  • I love california, doesn't get any better

  • If this song is tagged inappropriate. Then they should tag Lady GaGa stuff too!

  • this def makes me wanna go to the beach lol

  • Best summer song ever

  • I am going to the canaries in january and cant wait!

  • What the Hell BY Avril L springs to mind!!!

  • this song made blue jeans become a little lighter, sun light white: California Jeans in 1972

  • Pure garage-band sound. Too bad the poofs running record companies today would pass up something like this for a mediocre cut by Britney or Rhianna....

  • somebody says this is bad?!? shower of puffs!

  • how is this video flagged as inappropriate??? weird

  • My dad is the lead guitar player and has recently passed away. A great tribute to him as he never thought of it as a big deal making this record! We will always love this song!

  • "this content may be inappropriate for some users". Does that mean you have to be 18 years or older to go to the beach?

  • What a great place Southern California used to be.

  • @LTF6161

Don't say used to be. I went there on vacation in March 2010. Dance clubs, gyms, and shopping are still among the best in the USA.

  • @weirdo1060

Well...I lived there for 21 years and my parents still do. And trust me...it ain't the same place that I grew up in. And that is not a good thing. Glad I left.

  • @LTF6161 still is

  • At this time Blue Jeans became light-yellow, named CALIFORNIA-Jeans.

  • does anyone know if the band members are still alive. this song ROCKS

  • Hmm the lesson here is that surfing builds perfect bodies...

  • I love the reaction I get when I drive my camaro around with this blasting on the radio haha

  • What sounds like the tom tom in this song is really their drummer just hammering the bass drum faster than I've ever seen. Our drummer had to go on stage and hold the drum in place for them. So there is allen down on his knees holding the drum in place, he came back complaining of deafness.

  • Summer is what its all about_ Farmer tans, water, and girls =D

  • surf's up

  • surf's up from s. cal....

  • Does anyone know why this song in its original version is not available on ITunes? Only karaoke versions are. And other Rivera's songs are. But "California Sun" is conspicuously missing. Bummer!

  • @EzrinJem2 I know right?!

I've been waiting for it to show up forever!

    I'm going to check amazon.com

  • Can't sit still when I listen to this.

  • Hmmm. Croyde suddenly seams a million years away.

  • the original california jeans was invented in summer 1972

  • the original california jeans (light khaki white) was invented in 1972, opposite answer to blue jeans!!!!

  • The Original "California Jeans" (no more Blue Jeans?!?!?) was invented in summer of 1972

  • Its always hard trying to find a vietnamese man named Charlie, their all named Lao, or Chang, It's really difficult.

  • @Antihippie24 Victor Charlie, the viet cong. The war aim was accomplished. Now Viet Nam has been catholic for a while. Many protestant lives were destroyed by death, drugs, or despair.

  • GOOOOOOOOOOOD MOOOOORNNNNING VIETNAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!

  • Hey Andy, thanks for a great job on a hot tune from my childhood. Back in Long Island , N.Y. this song made everyone wanna leave and head West!

  • Really a nice bunch of pooter

  • The Ramones do this tune in 'Rock and Roll 'HIGH' School. Great punk version.

But jaqand's montage is sure 'HARD' to 'BEAT'

  • Cheesy Combo organ. Most likely Vox?

I made money back in the day playing this tune in a cover band as a drummer. Great drummers tune.

Must have been before the BeachBoys came all over California....

  • @kpkpdeyahoodee Came out in the mid-sixties (it's on the soundtrack for "Good Morning, Viet Nam"). the band was from Indiana- they were a 'garage band' that hit the jackpot on their first try. The sound is pure garage band- absolutely wonderful today.

  • @kpkpdeyahoodee This song was released in 1964 and on February 29th it peaked at #5.

  • great song, great girls - well done :-)

  • love california girls

  • this would have been a perfect doors song to cover when they were first starting out

  • @greatcomedian18 When i was 8 years old and saw the movie "The Doors", i thought that this was a song of "The Doors".

  • @guerrero1Jim i don't blame you it sounds like something they would do but instead of a bass guitar ray would use his rhodes piano bass

  • @greatcomedian18 Yes, and the singer's voice seems a bit like Jim's voice.

  • @guerrero1Jim i heard this song from the doors movie, and ive been trying to find it for the longest time lolol

  • @weasleherpies That good that you found it, haha.

  • No se por que al escuchar esta cancion, se me viene a la mente a Jim Morrison caminando por las playas de Venice. Las chicas del video estan muy buenas, las chicas californianas son muy hermosas.

I don't know why to listen this song, comes to mind to Jim Morrison walking on the Venice Beach. The girls of video are very good, the californian girls are very beautiful.

  • @guerrero1Jim cause maybe you saw the doors movie where this song was featured with jim walking to beach stalking pam?? thats actually not how they met

  • @greatcomedian18 Yes, i knew it, i didn't say seriously. Pam and Jim, they met when "The Doors" had their first performances.

  • @guerrero1Jim yes youre correct she was at the london fog and john found her first but then jim found her and john just sort of backed away

  • this is my uncle bill singing this he is the singer

  • Too bad the culture in California changed so quickly; the difference between 1964 and 1967 there was HUGE!

  • @pannoni1 Surf beats Psychedelic anyday! It's almost like what happened to Hair Metal when Grunge took over; you went from a "fun, party atmosphere" to a "Mind controlling, drugs, torture atmosphere"; but this was the Baby Boomers' version of that transition.

  • Surf music is going to big in China. They are getting into surfing like crazy.

  • Yep, that was Otto Nuss on the organ. I saw the Rivieras rehearsing once back around 1965 and I believe he was playing some kind of Lowrey organ, not a Farfisa.

Last I heard the band was still gigging around their hometown of South Bend, Indiana, with at least some of the original members. Good times, good memories!

  • Hey folks, this group from Indiana, believe it or not, had a monster of a hit in 1964 just at the start of the beach party songs revolution joining the ranks of The Beach Boys and Jan & Dean in that flavor of music. It would climb to the # 5 spot on the billboard charts and this video addition by Jaqand is quite awesome to say the least. I would love to get a woody and go surfing with this group of girls, wouldn't you, but there is one major requirement, you need to know how to swim!!!

  • Believe it or not this was not a original Rivieras song... It was actually written by my Grandfather who was the lead singer for the Tempests. The Tempests was another group from the same area of Indiana as the Rivieras. However the Tempests made the mistake of not copy writing it so it was taken from them two or three words were changed and it became the Rivieras hit.... Thats just the Sevison luck I guess...

  • @sevi316 oh man : ( i wouldn't beat yourself up over it. the real talent is in your blood
