  • Holly .I am an American living here in Ireland with my B/F for 5 years now. You are more than welcome to stop in for a visit. I wrote a song called My Ireland on my first visit to Ireland and like yourself, when you get to Ireland, being a songwriter I can only imagine the beautiful songs that are going to come from your heart ..wow!!! I just thought of the title of a song for you to write on your first visit to Ireland...Ireland brings the songs from my heart.

  • The men of Claddagh village were out upon the sea

Fishing for some food to feed their families

For there were many dangers on the fishing trip

But of these few the greatest, a Spanish pirate ship

The pirates did appear once on that fateful day

They captured all the men, and hurried them away

Along the distant shores from upon the rolling waves

And sold them to a goldsmith, to spend their lives as slaves

  • @UrbanFarmboy

Young Richard was the saddest, for he had left behind

A girl that he loved dearly, so tender and so kind

For many years had passed and poor Richard felt the pain

A pain that he would never see, his one true love again

To keep his spirits up and to keep hope in his heart

Each day he stole a speck of gold and made into art

And with the tiny pieces, he made a golden ring

To give it to his love one day, to make her true heart sing

  • And then the day had finally come, when all the men were free

To start their trip to Ireland, upon the rolling sea

And Richard's heart lept with joy, when finally he did learn

His love had stayed faithful, on wait of his return

For it was on that day, after so many years

After all the hardship, after all the tears

That Richard held his loved one and made her true heart sing

He gave to her his work of love, the beautiful Claddagh Ring

    The beautiful Claddagh Ring

    The beautiful Claddagh Ring

  • Your voice is wonderful. :) thank you for sharing it with us.

  • hi holly how are you today??

just whanted to say that this song that you have done with that voice and lyrics is so awsome together they what do you say "completes each other" take care girl

  • She is certainly singing the song herself. Very very good. It is made to have the slight echo with a computer program, thats why you think it looks like she's not singing.

  • Your voice is stanning, Holly! Congratulations, you've been blessed by St. Patrick ;-)

I really really like this song, it's so beautiful!

  • Incredibly beautiful!

    I´m pretty sure that you´re a siren. ;-)

  • This is one of my favourite songs from you Holly.

  • I know I've already expressed a million times over how much I love you and your music. I love how "real" you are in your "hello" videos and music videos. I was just wondering though...are you a Siren? Because that would explain alot! Who's with me on this possibility?

  • yes yes, siren, sounds like a good possibility. Great voice, beautiful everything else. And yes you have pronunciation right on it, or at least close enough I don't notice(not that I'm irish but I know enough of it's pronounciation).

  • Echo.. me

  • pretty girl

  • Y'Know, I want to love this song, but the video looks lipsynched. Please tell me I'm wrong. If not, please feature the actual singer.

  • Holly has 65 other videos on YT.

I am sure if you take a listen to any of the others you will know that she is singing them herself.

Sometimes she records them first then sings along, depending on the quality of the equipment she is using but it is always her singing :)

  • Good to hear- but she should use the film from the actual recording, it comes off a bit phoney otherwise.

    Beautiful voice!

  • Thankyou very much rumbygum :)

This one is an actual recording as I remember her singing it many many times to get it just how she wanted it - perfectionist!! :)

    Take care

    jesse

  • And perfect, it is!

  • your wrong shes actually singing

  • Apparently your songs doesn't need a very hi-fi videos......the songs are lovely, and very imaginative, and on the video not much movement but ur expression tends to speak a lot....and covers it all.....Good work.

  • LOVEly.

  • You are very kind tuber - thank you very much :-)

  • beautiful voice. but the claddagh ring was created by richard joyce, who was a galway native who was captured by algerian pirates, when he was on a trip to the west indies. he was sold as a slave to a goldsmith then. when he came back to galway around 1690 he invented the claddagh ring, earliest examples of the ring were found around 1700. claddagh was a wee town in glaway, they had their own traditions and traditional clothes.

  • Hi tinyweebee :-)

  • Hi Holly :-)

I didn't know the story about the Claddagh Ring before. You and Rob turned it so lovingly into a song. I like this kind of songs so much. It's like a story written into a poem and then turned into a song. It is a beautiful, quite traditional-like tune, exactly matching the content of the story and you sing it with so much empathy towards the story's character(s), allowing the listener to 'experience' the story rather than just reading or hearing about it.

    Very Best Wishes

    Johannes

  • Hello Johannes :-)

Thankyou very much for your wonderful comment.

I am not sure if this is the exact story of the Claddagh ring, but Rob researched it and wrote these lyrics, which I think are brilliant.

Many people love a story song and I love any music that sounds a little Irish so I enjoyed putting the two together.

I am very happy that you like it :-)
