hey look me up and watch my video and tell me what Im doing wrong...never had lessons and the mandolin one was a hoot...only had it for a month before I tried that nightmare...lol...but I would like to know what you think
@marcopicker Thanks Marc, I'm glad you're enjoying them. I sure appreciate you listening and taking the time to leave a comment. I always say the guitars sing much better than I do...lol. Thanks again.
@DrTom444 Hey DrTom444 First off, thanks for the kind words I appreciate you taking the time to listen. I really like the D-18A's. They have a killer tone like no other Martin I have seen. They are exceptional. I highly reccomend them...it's just that price tag...lol. I'm glad you enjoyed the video and the guitar.
@TheCountrygit Wow, can't beat that for a comment. Thanks so much for the kind word....lol. I appreciate you taking the time to listen and leave a comment.
@waynerjson Hey wayne, Again, sorry for the belated reply. However, thank you for the kind words I really appreciate you taking the time to listen and leave a comment. I think this version had more Doc, than George, but it is a great tune none the less. I really enjoy playing this song.
another great picking performance and great sounding guitar of course. Thanks for sharing this. If you don't mind the question. How much more difficult would you say is "Here comes the Sun" to pick, compared to "Dust in the Wind" ?
Thanks for the kind words and taking the time to listen. "Here Comes the Sun" will be a bit more difficult than "Dust in the Wind" because it is not pattern oriented. DITW is nice because your right hand is following the same pattern over each chord, where HCTS will have some variation for your right hand to catch the melody. Just start it slowly, work out where your hands need to go and, when you're comfortable with it, start speeding it up. Songs with the melody line are always tougher.
Thanks for the info. I have started to identify the different parts in HCTS and have started the practicing process. Lots of new stuff in here in regards of right hand work and also the tempo changes (I always say I'd be a pretty good musician if it wouldn't be about the timing ;-). cheers
Absolutely beautiful picking and a awesome sounding guitar. I love those D18A's. I have a D18GE ,but it does not sound that good. Didn't you have a sunburst D18A also? Keep up the great videos.
Hey pugsley, thanks so much for the kind words and taking the time to listen. At the risk of sounding like a Martin commercial (which I frequently do anyway...lol) their Authentic series is a whole different level of guitar. I have a Golden Ear too, it has been my main guitar for 15 years and this guitar makes it sound one dimensional by comparision. I do have a new sunburst D-18A, but I haven't really had time to play with it. I hope to have some videos of it up in the near future.
That's probably the strings...lol, it seems like every time I get a chance to record something, the Authentic has dead strings on it. I tend to think it's the long gone strings instead of the capo. I'll do an open version in the near future and we'll compare.
Thanks so much for the kind words and taking the time to watch (or listen). I have really come to enjoy this tune lately. It is very fun to play. I'm glad you liked it.
Hey Dale, thanks for taking time to watch and leave a comment. I have been watching a number of your videos and I have really been enjoying your comparison videos. I have to say that D-18A (and it's little brother the 000-18A) have really changed the face of my guitar "herd". They are about all I play anymore.
Hey William, I'm glad you enjoyed it. No, this really isn't bluegrass. This would go under the catagory of fingerstyle or finger picking guitar. It's a really fun style that requires the player to layer guitar parts (essentially you are playing two parts at once). My thumb is creating the bass line and my fingers are playing the melody part. I think part of the fun of guitar is how versatile an instrument it is, from Bluegrass, to Jazz, to Fingerstyle.
Boy, I'd sure like to hear you record into a decent mic. Either way I really enjoyed that.

Great job.....you captured the melody nicely, which is a rare quality. Doc and George would be proud.

Wow i really like how smooth and relaxing the song is, even though I only play hard Bluegrass, which is kind of exciting and fast. Is this bluegrass?
