In response to Humble's question, the first reddish looking flower we always called "indian paint brush". We were told it was used to make red war paint, pottery stain, etc. Here is a fun fact about the Columbine, the second flower, if you separate the petals from the flower and bite off the base, there is a sweet "sugary" substance to enjoy! My grandmother would always grab one and hand us each a petal to gnaw on...

sweet pics trouttrek, those are some amazing cutts. I love your photo journals!!! What is the name of blue flower you had in a few pictures. I found that same flower at my favorite lake in the high country and clipped a pic, but i couldn't find it in any of my identification books. Any ideas?
