The Reichstag was a German Parliament building in the late 19th Century. It was ironic that it became a fortress to be held and to be taken by soldiers from Germany and Russia.

Also, the building fire in 1933 was used as an excuse by the Nazis to get rid of Communists and of Jews inside the Third Reich.

@mvn591014 It was damaged very badly and it was not until after German reunification that it was rebuilt and it was designed by a British person. There were still many graffiti left behind by Soviet soldiers inside after it was captured.

It was renamed the Bundestag and the dome was made of glass but similar in shape as the old one. When the capital moved from Bonn to Berlin the MPs went into newly reopened Bundestag.
