  • I use tap water and dye free/perfume free dish soap and a soft synthetic sponge or microfiber cloth to clean my used records, and I would put this method up against any machine for sound quality and safety/longevity of the record.

The key is to use a gentle touch, rinse extremely thoroughly with room temperature water, and then dry immediately with a very soft many-times-washed cotton cloth or t-shirt.

There is a reason why this is the method favored by most collectors of rare vinyl.

  • you might as well say something about ozone particles falling on your lp. sh$%^t that thing should be banned by the db police. i am deaf from listening to that machine. oh now you might as well throw away the album cover too.

  • Nick Mason !!

  • @psychedeligoat doesn't work huh? thanks for the tip.

  • @dimebagdave77 It "works" yes, but not to make your records better. The only way that can happen is if they are as clean as possible. No fucking fluid is going to make the modulation better. LAST is something you should not even use LAST. Water will do fine.

  • @freqazoidiak i don't keep LP's unless they are pristine.some have even called me obsessive,i am.i don't need the fluid to make my LP's sound better,i need it to keep them protected.

The product is called Last and is available from Music Direct .com. Last is available as a kit with applicators and eye dropper.

I have been using this product for over thirty years with excellent results.

  • @ProAudioConsultants thank you very much! that fluid is like a dream come true for me.can't wait to use it and rest easy when i play my expensive LP's.

A carbon Fiber brush is a good all purpose product to use. But it will only remove dust and loose debris like pet hair from the surface. Heavily soiled records need to be machine cleaned.
