  • Sir i agree that at this stage it doesnt suit but i request you to sing a few swaras of this raga. As i am a teacher i know to sing raga puriya hmm is very tough. One of the hardest ragas ever found in indian history.. I believe please check ourself before commenting.. Sorry to be to rude...

  • Very nice.

  • it was because in the beginning, the harmonium guy only played sa & pa. So it looked like she was offtune. In the end, it was fine since he was plyed with the song.

  • @TablaThe100 no sir in this the player plays only sa and ni. Please just for your jind information

  • not everyone has your opinion. I myself am a classical vocalist and prefer the use of harmonium. Yes, if i had a sarangi player everywhere i performed, how nice, but unfortunately this is not the case. I do admit, this particular har-player somehow spoiled the mood of the raag while she was singing swatantra alaap at the beginning, but he catched on towards the ending of her performance. An artiste however should not depend a whole lot on harmonium while singing.

  • @roopria246: All great classical singers of yesteryears used to sing with sarangi...harmonium has come in only in the last 40 years or so...harmonium has no meend aang and is inappropriate for Indian music....But it grew popular due to its ease of playing..

  • She is brilliant star and great artist. What a shame it is that such a great singer has to share the horror of a harmonium! Hope Indian classical singers will one day wake up to the absurdity of this inappropriate instrument.

  • @gokuldas34 I find the sound of the sarangi more appealing but the harmonium is more practical in terms of tuning etc. On the other hand, Iit's true that sometimes the harmonium is either too high(volume) or spoils the mood, but sometimes tabla players do the same too, so...

  • @gokuldas34 All top singers insist on Harmonium and good harmonium players are very sought after. One of my teachers Jayant Bhalodkar was one of the top players around and his accompaniment and solos were beautiful. Harmonium is too loud in here and should be a softer. Classical harmoniums are totally different in its bellows construction. Its got a proper Indian name - Samwadhini, my Guruji was instrumental in getting name made official in India.

  • @gokuldas34 Haha! But seriously, harmonium for khayal esp. is amazing.

  • @gokuldas34 I think you don't know what alone a harmonium can do, you should have known that indian classicals are incomplete with harmonium & tabla. Don't blame harmonium, else blame the player.

  • @gokuldas34 i'm not very educated in the history of indian music. do you not like the harmonium because it isn't traditional? personally, my favorite pieces of indian music have some sort of drone going on. although i admit the harmonium seems to clutter this particular piece.
