Really nice fabulous song very moody & haunting. I love the waltz feel,it makes it different. People could be dancing to this. You have this haunting sound my buddy Andreas it's the sensitive way you sing a song, really feeling the lyrics all the time. I love that about you. Always beautiful guitar work too,the way you fingerpick and strum is brilliant. This has a lonely beautiful feel to it. I loved it my bro! Nice b&w pic. That $100 Alvarez sounds just awesome! who needs a Martin? lol ;)))
thanks so much for the comments paradise my friend, you're the best!! :)) sometimes I like to "explore" a song by making some changes, and look what happens. I'm convinced that most songs bear more potential than one take can express. so some songwriters (like Elliott too) do different versions of one song. I think that's pretty interesting. so glad you liked it. I like this alvarez a lot, and besides, it has a wider (44) fretboard than my taka. more comfortable to me. they have all their own...
Now this is really something special. Sung from the heart and played to perfection on a $100 guitar that sounds like a million bucks. All the best. ~ Mark
Andreas, you did a great job! I wasnt familiar with elliot smiths work so i had to do some research. First try is very often the best ;-)
And the guitar sounds allright to me..[looking outside my window where its raining (guess it must be also at your place), theres nothing better to do than finding a warm place and trying out the new instrument this weekend. Have fun!].
hi dear Lou, I enjoy you coming by and that I could introduce into Elliott a little. I think he was one of the superb wizards of the 90's, died far too soon! I like the Alvarez, this is tuned down to D. specially in this key she sounds warm and strong, this is from the cheap segment (RD)but built very solid. I think I'll provide her specially for such pieces.- we have sort of Irish weather now, overcast, sun and rain changing all the time... :o/ you have a prachtig weekeinde too! thaaanks!!! :))
thanks a lot James, definitely glad you liked it! Elliott Smith was an outstanding musician, an extraordinary appearance for sure, and ended so sadly...
thank you so much Ron for the kind comment! I altered the original strumming just for experiment, and to have a surprised look what's inside this extraordinary piece! very glad you enjoyed it!! :)
Well, of course, I love the waltz backing. And twang too?! What more to ask. ;) Beautiful song, sung in your sensitive, tender voice. I would want you to post the other version too, but then this is so lovely. NAncy
hey Nancy, gosh that was a translation mistake - guess I meant picking instead. "twang" was a wrong suggestion, it seems to label a special country style with preferably e-guitars. did send you the other version and hope it arrived? thankyou for listening... :o))
