mongoose (including meerkat) belong to the same family, mustelidae. includes weasel, stoat, otter, wolverine, mink, badger, marten, polecat, ferret etc.
i had to look that up (in a book. with pages. before i'd trust my computer lol) & you are exactly right. i thought they'd come under the mustelid clans but they belong to viverridae eg civets, genets, mongooses & meerkats (& a few other related beasts) not often i learn a new thing about animals. my thanks.
most of these photo's are ferrets and black footed ferrets

What does that skunk at the end have to do with weasel? lol

@827900850 Until 1998, the skunk was included in the weasel family. But the meerkat is a mongoose, not a weasel!

Damn, that song has the background sound of Soft Cell's version of Tainted Love. It's like a cover of a cover.

this was before the tainted love dude.

It wasn't. Let's get the facts straight:
1965: Gloria Jones - Tainted Love (original)
1981: Soft Cell - Tainted Love (cover)
2006: Rihanna - S.O.S. (sample of above)

Actually though, 50 million years ago, the earliest dogs& cats looked like weasels& mongooses

Another nice clip. You know that meerkats aren't weasels though. They're mongooses. Check it on Wikipedia.

Mongooses belong to a different family than weasels. Meerkats also belong to that mongoose family.
