makes us see the double standards of the nobility, was in a delicate political situation, and thus so much invention since then was not a Saint, killer but few nobles not did it? Because the burghers if already had fame allowed him to their daughters? I think a character quite common at the time and the truth will always be a fascinating myth but since then the book gives us a vision more advanced than the legend of the blood
I always had the idea that there were many lies environment this woman, has captivated me and not by the sadistic side, but the research, to understand it we must understand that the elite of the 16th century was cruel with servants, so that , the lady was not peculiar, it seems to me not a psychopath is most unlike the concept that I had before she was calculator giving money to the Protestant Church and award scholarships to some unprotected as intercede in favour of the raped girl makes us
lovely ad, extraordinary book - one of my most praised additions to my collection, i even got two other people to buy it :) i used to carry it to and fro like a bible, haha!
It would have been nice if the author of this video had put the name of the author in here - the video is too grainy for me to see the last name. I could see the first name is Kimberly.
Its also a fact, that the only people who ever admitted doing any killings, were her 4 servants. in fact, one of them, the midget boy, would go around bragging, about the girls he had killed. Im not saying the countess did nothing wrong. but those that don't quite understand, what her life was like, could never understand her. and the amount of stress she was under. Imagine being a woman back then and being the most powerful person around. that angered alot of men.
I've done a lot of Bathory research but never saw some of those pictures in this video. I heard the man in the suit of armor is her father in law, and the lady is her mother in law, Usula.
This new book is excellent, especially if you're tired of all the Bathory fiction, but it's kind of graphic (not for sensitive readers). I read it in one sitting. I couldn't put it down even though I was really horrified half way through. Nobody is really scared today about Lady Bathory being a vampire or bathing in blood, but when you read about what she REALLY did, it's creepy. She kind of makes Hannibal Lechter look like an amateur.
@gothgirlmage if you read the book, you are aware, that the only people ever caught doing any torturing or killings were her 4 servants. on the night they raided her castle, the countess wasn't even there. only her 4 servants were. You say she made Hannibal Lechter look like an ameteur. what do you base that on. you do realize, that the evidence against the countess was so flimsy. I'm currently writing a book about her.which shows what kinda woman she truly was. Intelligent, passionate.

@MedRenStudies That's correct. The man in the armor is Támas Nádasdy, Bathory's father-in-law. The lady who follows is his wife, Orsolya Nádasdy.
