You need to get all the life upgrades, so you can get the Water Sword, that's when you'll be able to fight the Dahaka.

Yes, what you say is right, if he had died in that moment with the Dahaka, he would had never reached the mask. The only thing I can think of is that he takes the place of himself in the Past because he was there, but is too confusing. For me it's wrong, he should have died with the mask too.

The mask of wraiths acts like a counter he dies but at the exact moment he took of the mask so in essence he would still be alive and it said it would allow the same being to exist as 2 in the same time line so as soon as he died he could become the original prince again.

because its the mask of wraith gave him a second chance sort of speak, otherwise he could of died 2. remember the part where he was on his way to the throne room the same prince( that he didn't knew was him) jumped infront of him. when the dahaka was about to attack him. the wraith prince died instead of him, that's why he didn't die because he made a mistake

@9crusader It's because the actual prince is the sand wraith and the other prince is just a copy of the prince of what happened in the past. He killed himself that he didn't need, so then he could take the mask off. Hope this made sense.

@9crusader its because of the mask, when the prince wore the mask and went to the past for the first time, the mask helped him altering his own timeline and thus allowing the second existence of the prince and that is why he can not get rid of the mask unless his other self is dead, because the mask will not allow two similar prince at the same time.

To put off the mask he needed to kill the prince ! so when Dahaka cornered the prince he dodged the Dahaka's attack so Dahaka killed the prince :( so then he could took off his mask and voilla the prince is back and unhurt hope you understood :D

This isn't the "Prince of The Past" and "The Prince of The Present" kind of thing. The Prince we play is a Sand-Wraith, an outer being with the concious of The Prince, trying to change his own fate. That is how he is given a second chance. By killing the original Prince, he is, in fact, "replacing" him.

There is not fake prince. You are playing the prince's outer being. You're practically already dead. You are just killing yourself in the past, so that you can take his place in that timeline. There can't be two princes at once, so he kills one to replace with the other.

The time is not a river, not a straight line. It's an ocean, a matrix, a spider net or whaterver you call. It contains many dimensions with parallel time-lines.

When the prince wear the mask, he already create a whole new similar dimension and travel there as a foreign object and replace it-other-self.

Just like you copy a file A from folder and paste on another folder, replace a SAME-NAME file B,whatever you do with B has nothing to do with A.

the same scene takes place twice.once wen u r the real prince and once when u r the sandwraith. when u r the prince dahaka takes the sandwraith and when u r the sandwraith dahaka takes the prince. you become the sandwraith later on in the game.
