  • hghjgjhghghghghghg........nice melody but it sounds like a violin :P

  • Welcome to Hogwarts, Harry Potter-san XD

  • this "Koto" is a family household instrument. pretty much like a piano to us.

  • Don't know why people are going "wtf" on the instrument. It's lovely when playing traditional Chinese/Japanese songs.

You did a good job =)

  • Korean*

  • it sounds even more beautiful.

    great job.

  • What the hell r u playing?

  • needs tooning

  • i thinks it's quite good, esp tt's a chinese instrument... and it only has do rea mi so la. fa and ti can only be produced by pressing the strings on the left side. Producing these sounds accurately requires years of practice.

  • true... its not a chinese instrument, its japanese.

  • okay.... what the heck is that thing? it looks like a stretched out lama with strings on it...

    Seriously tho... what is it?

  • Hi,

The instrument of which you asked is called a "Koto". It is a Japanese zither of Chinese origen. The name of the instrument that gave rise to the Koto is called a "Guzheng" pronounced "Goojung" (approximately). The traditional version of the Koto has 13-strings, although these days you can 17,20-25 stringed instruments. The Chisene traditional version has 16 strings. The modern versions range between 25 and higher??

  • nice instrment, but u could use a

    little bit more practice

  • you're playing it wrong....very wrong

  • post a vid show us how to play. we'd all appreciate it so much.

  • it's not that he's playing it wrong. but because this instrument can't play certain notes.

  • You did very well, but (I'm being /really/ picky here. don't bite my head off) in the second half of the song, they key changes, or there's acsidentals or something that you kept missing. Other than that, you did really well.

  • Wow! It's not easy playing thet thing, innit? I wish I could though. Seems interesting.

  • Thatss so kool!! i want to havee one of that instruments

    jojojo

  • ohh I loved it ^__^ Hedwig's theme is so awesome

  • that was really awesome~I really loved it ::nods:: it came out really kewl :) keep it up!

  • That sounded weird .. but great :-D

  • yeah, the sound quality is really bad, koto usually sounds much deeper. If you go to my website you can hear some of my songs with better quality. You can find my website by googling chocolate dragon music.

  • This is a koto, which is the Japanese ascendent of the Chinese gu zheng. The Korean long zither is called "kayagum" and the Vietnamese long zither is called dan tranh. An ancient zither of China is gu qin, which only has 7 strings and is even older than the gu zheng.

  • for all u ignorant ppl out there, this is a chinese instrument, called a gu zhen. beautifully played, dude. Keep it up!

  • koto is japanese, dude

  • hurray for ignorant people talking like they no something. the origons of the instrument are from china passed through korea, to japan. so ultimately chinese but glorified through korea. remember japan is an island and anything they acquire is most likely through korea (a major port). karate, kimonos, the katana, even the ideals of the samurai went to japan through korea.

  • wow that was cool :)..check my guitar version of this out *its..umm..interesting to say the least lol*

  • THATS A KOREAN INSTRUMENT

  • Sounds a bit lame..but okay

  • that is soo not lame its awesome...kotodragon dont liten to him

  • totally rocks!

  • it looks like a japenesse eletric guitar. Pratice more young one..

  • THATS A KOREAN INSTRUMENT

  • Very well done! A great movie too!!!

    Thank you for your posts,

Vi An (I hope you will check out my own videos too).

  • What the hell are you playing?

  • you should have practised more grasshopper

  • A very common instrument I see in my music DVD's.

  • I was hoping that some one who had played past the beginning would aleast play the rest of the song, the part where it goes up two complete octives and back with 32th notes at 100 bpm then go up and down at 32th notes like the rest of the song should be and show me its possible. Because I can only play up to where you stopped but the ending, looks impossible.

  • omg thats loks so hard! .. and i belive it is.. i couldn`t learn guitar.. won`t talk about this! XD cool.. pretty cool...

  • Cool! Kotos are awsome.

The Koto is a japanese instrament.

  • wow, thats amazing, ive never even heard of the instrument before, much better than my version.
