The E63 drives like a limousine and has all the mod cons that you'd expect from a high end saloon (Sat-Nav, DVD, AC etc).

It has the practical boot space just short of an SUV, so it is great for carrying people as well as luggage.

Unlike an SUV, it handles like a car when on the road.

You can keep a low profile since nobody suspects anything from a station wagon.

Oh yeah, and it drives like a Super Car. 0-60 in less than 4.5 seconds.

It is the greatest all-round car you can get, but I am biased.

E63 Estate is a heavy car. CLK63 AMG is less heavy.

It's true. My friend owns both an S63 and a CLK63. He planned on chipping both, so he wanted to put them on a dyno first. After both of them (still stock) ran on the dyno the results were as expected. The S63 put 452 rwhp down (519 hp at the crank), while the CLK63 put down 449 rwhp (516 hp at the crank). Marketing is the only reason Benz claims power differences in the 63 models.

i think the reason why u see so much imparity between amg cars is the fact that the engines are hand made... so the performance varies throught and u have to consider human error as well:)

Can you not follow a train of thought? He was talking about engines and that they are hand-built and thus there is a chance to human error during the build (i.e. not all engines necessarily put out the same numbers).

It is possible the driver forgot to put it into "sport" (Changes gears in higher rev range).

Or he may have put it into paddle shift mode, in which case he may have hit the rev limiter before changing up gears.

In my own E63 wagon I've comfortable kept up with with an Ferrari 430, so this test has surprised me.

The E63 can get from 0-100kph in 4.3 seconds - so yes, it can keep up with some very fast cars including ferraris, porsches etc.

Wow. I really didn't expect that. I know the CLK63 has a less powerful version of the V8 that's in the E63, so I guess the CLK63's weight advantage won it. That's understandable, but I never thought the CLK63 would pull ahead that much. That was a massive win. The CLK wasn't a Black Series right?

The E63 Estate is one sexy car, especially in the Barolo red. I've only seen one E55 Estate in person and one E63 in person as they are special order cars in the US. I'd really wish they imported the M5 estate & Audi RS6 estate to the US as I'd really love to have one of them.

I think that if Audi & BMW at the least followed Mercedes Benz and offered them as special order, they'd do fine. I know the RS6's would go, especially here in the North East area of the US where I live. We've got so many damn Cayenne Turbos...I'd trade ours in for the Audi if we didn't need a tow vehicle!

Yeah, we don't get them at all over here. Not even an RS4 Estate or, believe this, a CLK63 Coupe. We do get the Convertible & did get the black series but not the coupe. I guess it was too close to the SL63, CL63, E63 & CLS63. Now that fuel prices have been rising, I think enthusiasts would start buying more wagons, even if the fuel mileage is marginally better than an ML63 or Cayenne Turbo.
