Yeah, I agree that Roald Dahl is one of the great children's writers. As I kid I used to read his books over and over: I would literally finish a book, get bored of the real world after about a minute, and then just start reading it again. I read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at least twenty-five times.

These days I'm reading him again - aged 37, and with two degrees in English Literature, I still think he rules!

His short stories are just brillaint.. his 2 best are "The great automatic grammatizator and other stories" and "skin and other stories".. at the end of his stories i literally gasp out loud.. he's just brilliant:)

I saw this entire episode years ago and it was very strange but had good flight footage of a Spitfire james and the giant peach.  The background music was cool as well. Is this entire episode available?

Roald Dahl was coming from Norway.....he and J.K.Rowling is the best!

Actually, if he was "from" anywhere, it was Wales, although his mannerisms are decidedly English due to his schooling.

He was decidedly of Norweigan descent though, both of his parents being immigrants.

Good for you. I'm well into my thirties and I still read them. The last page in Danny The Champion of the World is one any adult should read oncer a week for their whole life, lest they become boring and crusty.
