One question about vocoders... When recording the MIDI track, do you have to play a melody so that the carrier can make the trigger sound (vox) be a melody? I'm getting really weird effects with the carrier being the melody. I just want the melody of the vox to be there, without sounding dodgy. I used a single chord to trigger my vocoder effect on a different track and it worked beautifully. I've also tried the TAL vocoder but failed so I'm crawling back to EVOC20PS.
PJ, a million thanks! You explained and showed the exact solution I needed--from your tutorial to my recorded vocoder track in 15 minutes after a few hours of frustration. Thanks for posting this!
This is the third video I've watched trying to figure this out and I finally got it. The thing is, I've found that if, in playback, I mute the audio track up there in the arrange window, it mutes the vocoder too and I hear nothing. I have to go into automation for the audio track to mute it, or bring the volume down on it. I'm using Logic Express, so I don't know if that makes a difference. Anyway, if anyone else is having that problem in playback, that's my solution.
Great vid! Having some fun with the EVOC easily!
