  • "i think we were alll stumped by that"..the smart 18% from out of town wasnt.

  • LOL. THAT'S HILARIOUS. I LOVE HOW SHE SAID NEW YORKERS WERE THE SMARTEST PEOPLE IN THE WORLD. XD

  • Those answers they gave her were such a dick move. I mean every answer had only one or two letters changed of words with very similar spelling and meanings and for some people specific spelling of terms is really hard especially with scientific terms that they've never seen or heard of outside of school in the real world for years.

And to boot she couldn't rule out any of the wrong answers because they're all so similar in spelling AND meaning. WWTBAM pulled a total dick move there.

  • americans in a nutshell

  • Yes. Every one of these people is a complete and total moron because they don't know how to spell a word that not one of them has used in 20 years.

    MAKES PERFECT SENSE

  • That really is a stupid question to put on Millionaire. No one would have the time to use the phone-a-friend on that one. I got the answer right, but still...there's no way anyone could spell out all of those answers, let alone read the question, in 30 seconds. Granted, it is possible to have someone waiting at a computer to type in the first answer and use the help of Auto-correct to instantly find it, but even that would be cutting it close.

  • Wow...I also thought it was C...I need to work on my spelling!

  • Fucking thick bastards.

  • Asking the audience on a spelling question... She deserved it >_<

  • genea, "generation"; logos, "knowledge". Now, you can't get wrong. Right?

  • show host pronounced it wronggg

  • I really feel sorry for her....

  • Proof that New Yorkers are not the smartest people in the world! :P

  • @YxtreaM Far from it too....

  • HSAHAHAHA

  • @AlexisBrookeM

    Sure

  • I thougt it was B, and I am not even native speaking...xD

  • @Sp4rks1 Yeah I know it's spelt like that because it's the most retarded looking way it's spelt LOL

  • I thought it was C too

  • "New Yorkers are the smartest people in the world", something about that statement doesn't sound particularly correct.

  • damn i thought it was d

  • Comment removed

  • I am being absolutely honest here. I thought it was "b". It was the only one that had "gene" and "alogy" in the name, it made sense.

  • @thespacecream that's what i was thinking, none of the others really made sense..

  • Meredith loves dumping them by them by the roadside. After the show she kicks their ass and strikes them repeatedly about the head and shoulders with a wet noodle.

  • New Yorkers are the smartest people in the world? That entire country is fucking stupid!!!

  • @milinm

That entire country? Do you have an axe to grind against America?

  • @herofromthedark You should ask yourself that having posted your original comment.

  • @milinm Lol. I bet you have never even been there. Haters gonna hate.

  • @attiyeh422 omg you really are dumb. I read the news, buddy. Don't know about you.

  • thought it was d

  • I'll be honest, c had me by the short n curlies!

  • Thumbs up if you knew the correct answer

  • this is what happens when we grow up learning how to read in this country with the phonetic approach instead of the RIGHT way - the whole-words approach

  • Without looking B.

  • Omg I'm laughing so hard at the fact that she said, "Well, New Yorkers are some of the smartest people in the world" then lost. New Yorkers are fucking dumbasses.

  • @gwren611

Hilarious, I was thinking exactly the same thing.. couldn't have deserved it more.

  • Rofl, fucking morons.

  • I would have said C too :/ but i dont fail at life, i fail at spelling geneology xD

  • @MoreLikeCappuccino

and believe it or not, you still do!

  • Did you see the vid of a european walking around in New york asking random people to name 1 country that begins with U? out of the like 50 people one person actually managed to say Uruguay, but not ONE said United States of America or just USA. And yet this woman claims they're the smartest xD

  • @imnaree Because people don't think of it like that. The "United States of America" is simply America to the general populace.

  • I knew it was B, and English is not even my native language, nor do I speak it daily...

  • New Yorkers being pompous yet again

  • She from workaholics?

  • urp. yeah, the general public tends not to be very good at grammar or spelling.

  • I think it may be genealogy, or it could be genealogy not sure

  • Genealogy is one of the most common misspelled words in the entire English language. I have sources too! I was going to post them, but apparently YouTube hates that =)

  • I majored in the English language throughout high-school and college, received mentions and accolades for my perfect New York English regents score, had a flawless 4.0 GPA throughout college for English and still somehow got this wrong. I feel so ashamed right now I could vomit. I'm going to be sick. Damn you New York!

  • "New Yorkers are the smartest people in the world!" Right.

  • The fact that she said "New Yorkers are the smartest people in the world!" right before losing makes it even worse...

  • wow new yorkers are smart

  • "You folks should* go away. We have no more contestants for you to ridicule*"

  • I saw an even more stupid question in WWTBAM and the question was something like this: Which plant belongs to the (some latin name) family and the guy and woman that were going to answer, didn't know the answer so they used 50 / 50 after that, 2 was left (obviously lol) and then the woman said she thought it was a, and after talking for a min, they asked the audience, and they said a with 70% so they picked a, and then failed :O damn audience voting for that just coz she talked about it xD

  • @gospelkeys07 Really? My 10 year old brother does...

  • New yorker are the smartest people in the world wtf you arent the only country in the world...there are 10000000 smarter people in the world.

  • Tough question.

  • wow so if NY is smart. then 18% of them must be dumb then?

  • I feel dumb. Now I know how most people feel.

  • It would have been funny if she just said "Genealogy, final answer" without giving the letter. What would Meredith's reaction have been?

  • Fucking greek words.

  • @akori18 go to hell! I t doesn't mean that if your not smart enough to know some vocabulary It's the greeks fault that they invented them!

  • Only in new york alicia keys ha haha

  • Americans FTW!

  • I was thinking B or C. C sounds more correct but knowing the English language B looked quite tempting.

  • "good thing i planted bombs under all of their seats in case this happened"

  • I learned something!

  • New Yorkers are the smartest people in the world?!?? lmfao... quite the opposite.

  • i thought it was C too, how is there an a after the e if the word is "Gene"?!?!

  • The 18% must be pisssssed...

  • Smartest people in the world my ass.

  • @gbeach85 lmao

  • i would have blamed the host for pronoucing it wrong!!!!!

    damn the audience were idiots

  • incorrect pronunciation kills

  • "I think we were all stumped by that."

... not 18% of the audience.

  • wow, I thought it was C too

  • Public education claims another victim.... Well..... Hundreds of other victims.

  • Such a shame. And this fate could have been avoided if only she had realized that recycled plastic knows more about grammar than the general public.

  • How is spelling a question on Who Want's to be a Millionaire? We have spell check for a reason

  • I knew it was B. Being a grammar Nazi pays off!

  • @misjif2341 God, i love your comment. Same here.

  • @EarsSoSmall You know you're supposed to capitalize "I" when referring to yourself, correct?

  • @misjif2341 Lol, you sir, are correct and a true grammar Nazi.

  • @EarsSoSmall *Takes a bow*

  • @misjif2341 Exactly!

  • @misjif2341: This is more spelling than it is grammar...>_>

  • @armani1326 Grammar is the structure of language, friend. Not only where you put the words, but how you put them together, as well.

  • @misjif2341 this isn't grammar. It's spelling

  • Comment removed

  • @misjif2341

This is spelling, not grammar... lolz

  • @SamuelJoaodaSuica same difference dumbass

  • @MrToragsowner

It's not dumb ass... spelling (vocabulary) and grammar are TWO SEPARATE things...

And "dumb ass" are two words, not one word...

  • @SamuelJoaodaSuica - "And "dumb ass" are two words, not one word..."

Actually, the phrase "dumb ass" refers specifically to an ass that is dumb. It would probably only be appropriate for describing a stupid donkey.

If you're looking for the disparaging slur against a stupid *person*, that'd be "dumbass".

  • After seeing and sharing with several cultures its obvious that the United States citizens have a mayor lack of knowledge, not only for their vocabulary but also for their own history. I will not mention the fact that most of them do not know or have small no knowledge of what happens outside of the US. It is not really their fault but how the united states education has been sinking over the past years. TV Shows, wars and junk food are priority #1 over healthy food, better education and books.

  • I don't think she'll ever misspell that word again.

  • I knew it was B, so I am smarter than all New yorkers in the world.

  • i thought it was C hahaha

  • I knew it was B right away, but I have been acing spelling and grammar since kindergarten literally

  • New york says this:

    watch?v=tdftcvkgvJQ

  • @Elephantintheroom01 New York remembers 9/11:

    watch?v=27f0IimLQpU

  • It SHOULD be C, but it isnt.

Ology comes from the word logos, meaning, the study of. Alogy doesnt mean anything. That was a trick question. I'm beginning to think Rick Rosner was right.

    Also, new york says this:

    watch?v=tdftcvkgvJQ

  • @Elephantintheroom01

Actually, Logy is derived from the greek word logos which means Knowledge. Genea is derived from the greek word for Generation..

    Genea + logy = Genealogy

  • I LOLD @ title till I also picked C

  • imagine what a blind guy would pick

  • if native english speakers bothered to learn foreign languages they would be better at spelling their own language

  • If she thinks New Yorkers are the smartest people in the world, she surely isnt smart

  • If you look at the stats, the audience is really giving her a middle finger.

  • The only fail in this video is the English language.

  • @Thebebop2008 lol i know English has so many dumb rules

  • It's not "C"?

  • oooh the irony/... I did a bit of Genealogy and I answered D! LOL!!!

  • haha it's genealogy this was our vocabulary word at school last week . :D

  • @catreflex You have vocabulary words? What the hell kind of school do you go to

  • @redkef a noormal one ?

  • it should be the million's question :s

  • Holly Hell it is spelt with the"a"...no wonder I can't find my family, i'm looking in the wrong place :)

  • Haha! Oh wait, I thought it was C too :|

  • new yorkers are the smartest people in the world? lol omfg

  • Ain't that a bitch.

  • LOOOOL it fucked me over!!!!! i actually thought it was a spoof

  • 18% (or dose it say 19?) of the pepole that where there are smart lol

  • lol smartest my ass

  • That's a big middle finger to the audience lol

  • 18% of the population is worth listening to ... it makes sense not to listen to the whole population who are like a sheep

  • i was thinking the same wrong answer

  • even i would have got it wrong lol!!!

  • hahahahaha dumb slut new york is filled with retard i should know i live here

  • u know i was really hoping it was A so that 1% that voted A would feel proud

  • I'm a dyslexic monkey living in a hole with one eye and no balls and I knew it was B! Yay for me for knowing that!! I'm so cool for knowing it, right everybody?! I knew it was B! I knew it was B!!

  • I'm actually good at spelling but I still thought it was C. B was my backup lol

  • I'm going to have to go with Genealogy.. which one?.. the one thats spelled correctly.

  • wow she looks so stupid

  • io thought b and i'am not english xD

  • @arvids817 you beat me and Im a native english speaker :-/ lol

  • It might just be my Dyslexia, but I don't see a difference between the first 3 choices

  • @Deathnotefan97

The only differences is the 'a' 'e' 'o' is swapped around.

The Audience is a bunch of idiots.

  • Good thing the $1000 dollar question wasn't "Who are the smartest people in the world?"

  • I said B and I am from Saudi Arabia, and I don't know what is the big deal here

  • im lebanese palestinian i was born in dubai and i live in canada for 18 years now and im fucking FRENCH and i knew it was B ...easiest question of all times

  • I'm freaking portuguese and I knew it was B.

  • Oh, dear I am ashamed of my country sometimes.

  • where the fuck is Regis?

  • I thought it was A.... Good thing i'm not on Who Wants To Be a Millionaire, right?

  • yea thats a tricky question its B lol c tries to trick you thinkin its the answer to fuck your day up and piss you off

  • Hah! I guessed it right! .... And I'm not from New York.

Just a guess though, but Genealogy sound more latin than the others..

  • I thought it was gynaecology

  • i really did think it was C....

  • @badass970123 Same!

  • Comment removed

  • @badass970123

    Because it wasn't.

  • Colonel = Army

Kernel = Computer Term... aint english great lol ;)

  • @ROFLSoldiers Kernel also = un-popped popcorn :D

    Yes. English is great.

  • 'And because Americans are the smartest people in the world: I'll pick C.'

    *Le wrong*

Bitch, that'll teach you and your nationalistic attitude. xD

  • @arilee64 oops. Than. I'm really tired sorry haha

  • the english language is not spelled phonetically stupids!!!

  • genealogy, lol fail

  • If New Yorkers are the "smartest people in the world", I'd hate to see the rest of the world.

  • @PeeboTyson They're probably all tourists

  • The Aesop: don't ask dumbfucks that have the time to waste sitting in a syndicated game show audience for spelling advice.

  • So 18% of the audience is not from New York?

  • This is why Latin and Greek vocabulary should be taught in high school. The actual "study of" suffix is -logy, not -ology, from Greek "logía". Most Greek roots add -o- as a linking vowel in compounds, but roots that end in a vowel, like genea-, don't. Here, the 'a' is part of the root. If students knew these Latin and Greek rules, 99% of the "difficult" words in English wouldn't be difficult at all.

  • @qhapaqinka you are one fart smeller

  • I said C in my head 0.o....

  • well, I thought it was D.. myself.. C and A where ruled out straight away for me and I just thought "it's got to be an ology"

  • fails at life, haha what a nerd.

  • new yorkers are the smartest people in the world.....? LOLOL

  • It was such an easy question, and yet she asked the stupid audience.

  • This mustve been in the UK

  • @WeStSiDeBL00DZ1 Well your clearly an american since It says $1,000 not $1000 you cocky shit

  • @WeStSiDeBL00DZ1 nah America listen

  • @WeStSiDeBL00DZ1 considering the fact that there is no New York in the UK, I believe it's in the US

  • I'm croatian, but I still guessed correctly.

  • This would never happen in the UK!
