Just listenening to him tuning up and ousting the first colorful chords from his guitar is 1.6 trillion (don;t worry ive done the math) better then any stuff being made today.
@obeyance.We go 2 c live music performed as it was meant 2 b heard, the differences in vocals or the absence of polish from the studio IS the key,the beauty of hearing the song in it's most natural state. It's also nice 2 hear a somewhat altered version of a song,1 can fall in love all over again with some subtle changes 2 a song.I bet U quit buying albums/cd's because U THINK all the other songs(besides the 1 song that inspired u 2 buy it in the 1st place) were all wierd or no good, right?

Is there not a "non live" version of this song? I want to link it to someone going through some troubles and this song fits but... I dont want them to hear "Clapclapclapc clapa" or 'YAH OR WOOOO" or what have you with live stuff. Live is for those that went to see the artist at that event to relive it... The quality is usually bad and the singer is usually off key or doesnt sing the song right.
@xROFLawsonx I agree I am 26 years old I have listened to him since I could rememeber thanks to my Dad who would always listen and then my uncle would play the guitar and play neil young and we would all sing along....I thought maybe because it was a part of me growing up that is where the emotion came from but I am thankful also for this amazing raw footage to see and hear him play I sit on here and look up all the rockers thanks youtube and youtubers!!!
Didn't he write this song on the tour bus one day with 5 other hits one day? I't was way before he went from the blue and into the black. Great campfire song, if you can sing sort of.
I have completed a critical inspection of this shabby, hirsute and hysterical Neanderthal girl. I confidently offer my assessment of the young trollop. A slattern of equal aspect has not, nor is likely to ever grace the stage. This frightful young woman yowls and screeches in a feral manner, the tenor of which reminds me of those wayward felines trapped and beaten nightly by my forthright and stalwart groundsman, James. Surely this girl was raised by wild beasts. James! Hurry!
I don't know about you guys, but Neil Young's music elicits such emotions from me that other music cannot compare to. His voice, lyrics, guitar...everything. So thankful for this video.
Why do they always just show the face of the artist! It pisses me off being a guitar player and always looking for that one lick or chord that you always wanted to see how it was played and all you see is face! What a waste to see all these classic videos of just faces! What a waste!
@GregDrayGregDray Most of the time, the face is where the emotion comes out. It would be a totally different thing if during Nirvana's Unplugged album if they had got a close shot of Kurt's guitar for the end of the last song. You really can get a different feeling from the expression on their faces.
my friend drove me up north to a recording studio in the woods where neil young and the stones did some of their recordings. my phone was in my pocket and we were rough-housing in the snow outside. my phone must of slipped out. even now, i kinda expect a call from neil like: "hello? i found your phone."
@roeky86 I think 'find someone who's turning' is a simple play on words. it emphasizes 'and youll come around' in a poetic way of creating a visualization. take someones hand and find a better way around things. its simple, really. a beautiful lyricist and songwriter.
why is it weird that i l think nickelback is better? that's what's great about music is everyone can have a different opinion. i do think most people would agree with me though.
This song reminds me of a strange world, red and black -colored, with newspapers flying about in Sin City -like light and old hobos in potato sacks, begging for money and waiting for the life in them die. But they're not worried, 'cause Neil Young's voice makes it seem alright.
well i mean sure neil young has a better voice, no question about it, and probably a technically better guitar player, but he's just not as good a songwriter as the guys from nickelback. and even though neil young's voice is better, it's not as passionate
waaat have i become--listening to my old friend sing his poetry, trading currencies and watching kramer on cnbc. i need to step back and just get the groove on again. (and you will come around)
He plays this song great in all the live versions I've seen. He sounds pretty high on the studio version, especially when he says "burning" and "turning".
I get what you mean by "Canadian" music... but great music transcends boarders. He is a national treasure, to be sure, but his music reaches so for beyond any one country. And, yes... it IS awesome.
My all-time favorite Neil song, but this is the 1st version I've heard that he screws up the chord changes (from the 1:00 minute mark) & you know he was not too happy about it, but what are you going to do? You just keep going. That's what I do when I screw up on stage. I also do this great tune, but who can do Neil justice?
Neil Young was a true rockstar. If you notice in the beginning of the majority of his live videos, he's altering his tuning. Newer "rockstars" just have like 3 different guitars. Neil just uses 1 haha
@zachwasson2001 Neil Young has like 5 guitars he plays live, especially around this time because he had been signed for a while. They're all vintage Martins and Gibson's too if I am not mistaken
