  • Rank and File employees do NOT get "numbers". I even asked for the "numbers" when I worked at a non-profit when I was in my undergraduate in business. I wanted to do a report on the company I worked for. HA. HR and accounting looked at me as if I was crazy. Numbers are for managers or sales poeple. I wish more hiring managers understood this fact. you can't just "ask for the numbers" and expect to get them as a rank and file employee. Remember, management does not trust the rank and file.

    Rank and file employees may not get "numbers" the way sales folks do. You are absolutely correct. However, every employee better be able to articulate what they have contributed to the bottom line (even the janitor). These many not be hard and fast numbers, but your department is responsible for something to do with making money, saving money or saving labor or mitigating financial risk. Figure out a way to discuss this in an interview.....
