As far as the whole Beyonce vs. Aaliyah thing, they are two completely different artists. Aaliyah was R&B and Beyonce is Pop. When Bey first started out she was R&B but not anymore. I will say this though. I don't think Beyonce would have went solo THAT QUICK if Aaliyah had lived. I think she would have stayed in Destiny's Child a little longer. I was a huge fan of Bey once upon a time, but i'm not feeling the new music.

It's an injustice to compare Aaliyah and Beyonce vocally. First, Aaliyah isn't alive, so there's no telling how she would sound or how much her voice would have progressed. Beyonce has been around longer and therefore has had more time to improve her voice. Neither of them are/were powerhouse singers, but Beyonce's voice (which is decent) didn't become this prolific until recently. She's come a long way since Aaliyah died, and I'm sure Aaliyah would have come a long way too.
Ciara's a better dancer? So what! Her dance moves are choreographed just like Aaliyah's was, and they have different styles of music. Ciara dances to the rhythm of her records, which are hyper and fast-paced. Aaliyah's music was smooth and mildly energetic. Therefore her dance moves were the same. As recording artists who happen to dance, they must have choreography that complements their records. Suppose Aaliyah recorded "1,2 Step." She would have performed it just as well, and sang it better.

People bought her records more after she died, but she was selling nonetheless when she was here. The Aaliyah album ranked #2 on the Billboard 200 in its first week. One In A Million reached double platinum status in 1997; the same year you say she fell off. I was here when Aaliyah was around, and I don't remember her "falling off." She always had hits. Back N' Forth, One In A Million, If Your Girl Only Knew, One I Gave My Heart To, Rock The Boat, etc, were all hit songs from her albums.
It's obvious that Aaliyah wated to take break so she could enjoy being a young woman. She was still a teenager. When One in A Million was releast released her sinor year of high school. She was just seventeen. Im sure she wanted to do prom and celebrate was she already accomplished at that point. Aaliyah wasn't a slave to the industry. I don't think is't necessary for for to pump out an album every year.

As far as the whole Beyonce vs. Aaliyah thing, they are two completely different artists. Aaliyah was R&B and Beyonce is Pop. When Bey first started out she was R&B but not anymore. I will say this though. I don't think Beyonce would have went solo THAT QUICK if Aaliyah had lived. I think she would have stayed in Destiny's Child a little longer. I was a huge fan of Bey once upon a time, but i'm not feeling the new music.

Aaliyah's last cd is a CLASSIC. 10 yrs later, it still sounds fresh. Liyah sold 5Xplatinum before the soundtrks. Aaliyah(LP) sold 350K it's first week off jus 1 promo single. Liyah then sold 700K in month and half before the next singles were released B4 her untimely death.

She had a PRETTY voice but it wasn't particularly strong. Unlike Beyonce, Aaliyah's voice was NOT obnoxious or overdone. With dancing, Aaliyah was in a league all her own, PURE BEAUTY. Beyonce doesn't dance she just moves in slutty ways. Ciara is just a beast, period. She can dance but it's rarely pleasant to look at.

It's an injustice to compare Aaliyah and Beyonce vocally. First, Aaliyah isn't alive, so there's no telling how she would sound or how much her voice would have progressed. Beyonce has been around longer and therefore has had more time to improve her voice. Neither of them are/were powerhouse singers, but Beyonce's voice (which is decent) didn't become this prolific until recently. She's come a long way since Aaliyah died, and I'm sure Aaliyah would have come a long way too.

Ciara dances to the rhythm of her records, which are hyper and fast-paced. Aaliyah's music was smooth and mildly energetic. Therefore her dance moves were the same. As recording artists who happen to dance, they must have choreography that complements their records. Suppose Aaliyah recorded "1,2 Step." She would have performed it just as well, and sang it better.

Aaliyah didnt achieve the same fame as Brandy, but many people thought Aaliyah was DIFFERENT. Her music was unique and nobody sounded like her. Whenever I heard about Aaliyah, I never associated her with Brandy or Monica. She stood out to me, and many others.

What you call "fell off" is what thoughtful musicians call taking a break, something all great artists do. MJ, Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey, Madonna, Prince, Whitney Houston - all these artists stopped making albums for a short period but it didn't diminish the quality of their artistry. Artists who drop albums every year and don't take breaks are usually the first ones to "fall off" and they don't last long.

One In A Million reached double platinum status in 1997; the same year you say she fell off. I was here when Aaliyah was around, and I don't remember her "falling off." She always had hits. Back N' Forth, One In A Million, If Your Girl Only Knew, One I Gave My Heart To, Rock The Boat, etc, were all hit songs from her albums.

Try again was the first song in history to go # 1 on airplay alone
she has 4 top 10 hits. 15 top 40's, and 4 top 20's. How is that not topping the charts well? And on top of that, her singles wernt even released in commercial format so they had to chart based on radio spins alone.

@theoriginaldmoney stop hating. aaliyah was very talented but she didn't have the same success as brandy and monica so let's keep it real. aaliyah could've blown up but when she died she didn't get that chance. you must be an aaliyah fan because a lot of you always bash others to make aaliyah looked better and that's not fair. just accept the fact aaliyah wasn't as big before she died and i'm not bashing her.

@bigvinamac aaliyah sold 32 million albums BEFORE she died....dat was nine yrs ago....brandy and monica STILL havent reached dat amount =)

@bigvinamac what part are u not understanding aaliyah outsold them with only 3 albums brandy and monica have yet to catch up...not to mention aaliyah was teh first and ONLY artist to ever reach #1 on the billboard hot 100 with AIRPLAY alone....dont get popularity and success confused brandy was more successful in the 90s but she was irrevalant after moesha and monica was never more successful than aaliyah smh or more popular.aaliyah had a song dat was nominated for an oscar they didnt
