  • JOHNNY GUITAR WATSON DIED IN 2005 RIP

  • i dig the violins on this. the horns are so cool on this jam.

  • theres two versions of this song. i like the other one better.

  • There will never be another one like JGW, my oldest brother turned me on to him when i was young and i liked his music ever since, my heart just broked when i first heard of his passing in '96, this musical genious will be truly missed.

  • Reminds me of back home in Chicago's South Side and Herb Kent and those stepper sets. Great times!

  • he broke it all the way down on this lol

  • A VERY NICE SONG.

  • Truly superb. It was out of left field in '75 but what a sonic groove! Just genius!

  • this is a cold cut and yes i visited the 50 yard line a few weeks ago from stl . they be getting it in on that floor! right on with the right on!

  • i wanna go back to 1975...and feel that vibe again.......miss those days.............

  • absolut genius

  • Great stuff!

  • Nobody Wants To Be....ManO Man...Sing That Song Johnny,Whoa!

  • I use to play this 45 all the time. That tells you my age without saying it!!!!

  • Chicago I see represents. This is the music of our City!!! R.I.P. J.G.W. I have stepped to this song a many nights in clubs around Chicago!!!

  • 1975 was a great year.

  • Luv it! Right on with the right on!

  • This man was talented. Brilliant.

  • many thanks brother johnny g for this lovely tune!!

  • GOD I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!

I couldn't remember who wrote this song until now. THANKS FOR POSTING THIS! :-)

  • You're welcome :O)

  • Thank you so much for this particular post! Brings back memories of Sweet Home Chicago and the dusty stepper sets at the 50 Yard Line on 71st and Artis' on 87th/Kimbark with the Hall of Fame DJ Herb Kent. We long so much to see the Gangster of Love again in the resurrection! One more of the long list of "true-funk soldiers" fallen in the line of duty that Prince spoke about in Musicology a few years back. Carry on, Kemosabe! LOLOL!

  • Glad you have enjoyed it :O)

  • wow that thang is still sho-nuff mighty fine. wow i wuz in high school going to summer school in 1975 when they were jammin at dunbar high with this. had on my high waist double knit dress pants and platforms and my velvet big-apple cap and i wuz stylin. rite own time.he wuz one of the greatest soul artists back then. i wish i could bring back those days.

  • du bon son comme on les aimes

  • I first heard JGW at the first Top Rank Reading alldayer. DJ Chris Hill introduced me to "I Need It". I have loved his music ever since and especially this one.

  • My favorite track by Johnny Guitar Watson

  • Long time since I heard this. Loved it all those years ago, still sounds great now and still puts a smile on my face. You're missed Kimosabe!

  • I first got my nose opened to JGW in 1976 at 10 yrs old and every since then have loved his music and became even more enamored with his flamboyant/player style in all of its pseudo pimpishness, when I learned he hailed from Houston as I do. As saddened as I was when he passed he left a large body of work to be appreciated

  • BIG PIMPIN' JOHNNY WATSON !

  • If your here then you already know, what a bad boy tune, just brings back days of croc skins and more gold than Mr T ha ha

  • Great bluesman....an original city bluesman

  • Still one of the best blues men around. Chesk out the new bio on JGW by Vincent Bakker. Great read!

  • I love this version over the other one I've heard. Johnny had a unique style and sound. When you heard a "Guitar" Watson song, you knew it was him before anyone had to tell you. He was a very underappreciated talent. He was definitely loved here in my hometown, Chicago. I miss Johnny and that era's music. Well, at least I have the memories. Thanks for sharing this.

  • wat it up with these artist getting more recognition after they are dead

  • MUN

I don't know if that's true. The people of my era certainly were digging Johnny when he was making these tunes. I still have some of the wax albums he made back then.

  • JOHNNY "GUITAR" WATSON was Always one of the HOTTEST ARTIST in

CHICAGO ~ Like beeshor1~ I have Alot of JGW on "WAX" too

His music has never STOPPED being played in the CHI, barbeques, card parties, fish frys, Famiily Reunions, etc.

  • I would bring you back frm the dead johnny as you would say if i had the power.

  • Fell in love with this record in the mid 70's when I was about 13 or 14 listening to JBC FM back in Kingston Jamaica!

  • Magnifico, thank you Johnny Guitar

  • One of my favourite tracks, great posting. Johnny was truly a genius!!!

  • I love this tune...reminds me of the early 90's with a lot of lovin goin on :)

  • This is the jam I played in my Impala riding down the streets with the black leather seats and wind blowing through the windows on a hot summer night. "Poetry in Motion"

  • I like this version. Its different from the version I had on his album. Johnny Guitar Watson had it goin on. Superman Lover on a good stereo with a good bass was one of the best tunes you ever want to hear. Thanks for posting.

  • What a classic, those were the days I will never forget them!

  • This brings a few memories back

  • For me too :O) Debz

  • oh Debz! every word of it..:0)xx
