  • excellent..Saved to favorites

  • to fast...!

but still mega woooww wtf omg awesome!

  • This is one of the best guitar jam videos on youtube, there should be more like it. Great job man.

  • i feel like im in disco central fever station and im high on acid ... oh those colorful petals ! ahh theres a pig in the sky! .. great job though talented

  • anyone no what effects pedals is used in dani California? i need to get it:)?

  • Vincent!!! what a smart motherfucker we have here!!!

  • shit this should be in mp3 *.*

  • dude, whats the one aspect you need to know when improvising?

  • I don't know, but I have a feeling your about to tell me?

  • @soundwrks how long have you been playing for, mate? i've been playing for nearly a year now and im at that phase where ive started to improvise to sogs kind of, but it just sounds like garbage and my solos are just noise :/ i just wanna know, does it come with time or are you just a sick guitar player?

  • @cudatheferocious i play for 2 years now.. improvisations started sounding good about a month ago.. so just time and practicepracticepractice!

  • is that a 7 string with only 6 strings?

  • Yup. It was quite an usual strat (squire). Sold it about a year ago, quite miss it now!

  • nice!!

  • complimenti!! sei veramente bravo =)

  • hi, that was really good.

May I know what are your equipments ?

  • Sure, it's all in the description. Click 'more info' in the right hand box. Thanks for watching!

  • sounds like a bit of auto-wah, a little chorus and compression/sustain to aid the attack of the notes perhaps. Throw in lots of mids into the mix but only a teeny-tiny bit of reverb 'cause you need that saturated feel to your tone. You could use either a humbucking or a single coil guitar (or one with coil tapping if you're lucky enough to have one). but you want your untouched clean tone slightly twangy to begin with

  • love it! very creative and funky

  • Nice wah sound! Wich pedal, dunlop?

By the way nice work 5/5

  • Thank you! Nah, a Vox 847. :)

  • yo what scales are u using i freaking lov this is it diatonic or pentatonic? or u just jammin? k dud lol also love ur bluesy style funk rock lol

    KEEP ROCKIN

  • i think he use the pentatonic ;)

  • A natural minor (and the blues/pentatonic minor which is just the 1, 3, 4, 5 and 7th notes from the natural minor anyways) - Sounds like a bit of the C major pentatonic too (not sure though, you'd have to confirm that with the maker ^^) but you could also use Fmajor scale and the Dminor pentatonic/blues which is what the original solo is in (however the chord sequence is a bit different for the rhythm section under the solo).

  • this is awesome, very nice improvisation and such a nice tone! very soft and cool

  • thank you!

  • good job man! keep it rock

  • Sure thing, I'll be putting a few things up soon.

  • nice one , man!

  • jazz and funk

  • nice. sorry for the dumb q, is that aSquier 7 string?

  • Yup it is. With no 7th string, at that moment in time. Sold it now, kind of miss it!

  • did you use an A key?

  • Yup, A minor.

  • sweet jam bro..sounds awsome!!! :)

  • cool ^^

  • i am shure that you were playing with an vox wah. don´t you?

  • Yes, it's all in the info box!

  • This sounds great :D you are a good guitarist. I didn't really like that compressor when I tried it out but it sounds really good here! good work :P

  • This would sound so awesome if you had just a tad more delay (If you have any it's very light).

I recognize that CS-3 anywhere, it sounds great. Very nice, I did a funky jam over a similar chord progression in C that's actually quite a bit like this. We have pretty much the same style. I think you'd like my video, it's called Funky Blues Jam or something. Anyways, sweet playing, great sound

    Peace

  • one last question, how long did it last you to make this improvisation?

  • I spent about ten minutes prior to recording just double checking what scales I could use, and jamming in that "style" to figure out what sort of things work particularly well. But essentially an improv is an improv, you do what you feel like on the spot!

  • Cool Jam.. nice clean sound.

  • what pedal(s) are you actually using?

and what are the chords? Am-G-?-Am

  • Dm is the missing chord. Pedals are in the description!

  • teach me!!

  • : O

    My master!

  • DAYYUM! U HAWT:D

    AND U PLAY GOOD:)

  • Nice stuff!!!!

  • that was flippin funky, great job

  • omg ive actually just started making a song with basic chords and will be adding solos like this, that weird i like this though sounds great :)

  • you sick motherfunker!!

  • very sick

  • awesome sound!

  • very nice!

  • awesome dude!

  • dude this is it this is the stuff

  • wow.good stuff:)

    what wah wah sound;

    saved

  • i love it!

  • Love the jazzy feel, great job!

  • cool work you look a little bit like hillel :P

  • Yeah this is more jazzy than frusciante or hendrix. Nice.

  • john frusciante for fuckin life. i bought one of his albums yesterday, listened to it through and blew the rest of my cash on every single one of his solo albums! PPL!!! buy artists music, dont be a pussy and use limewire cause then they wont have the cash to make any music anyway, peace.

  • the emyprean?

  • no my first album was curtains. then emyprean. i love empryean cause it brings back the idea of the album, not the single. just....awsome. best listened to in a dark room playing as loud as possible. i added a candle and some ganj....JF@@@!!!!!

  • listening to it a pitch black room is one of the best experiences

  • truely

  • I totally agree here. He is as great a singer as he is a guitarist.

  • Good work.

  • Great job. I can really hear the mix of Hendrix and Frusciante. Keep it up! 5/5

  • wft??? Neither Hendrix or Frusciante plays like this...

  • I hear some Jimi influences, is that correct?;)

    Pretty cool improvisation!:)

Could use some vibrato and legato, but that's just my opinion. I'm more of the fast metal licks:)

    Great vid.

  • I can tell you really love Frusciante's work =] =P

  • can u teach us how to do that

  • That sounded really cool. Nice job

  • good job!

  • you're good

  • why spam him? hes right. it would be so much more awesome if it wasnt a stream of notes. if he wanted that "soulful" aproach, that would be the way. hes playing funk like a shredder would atm tbh

  • Ill be the first to admit it could have done with better phrasing and such (and bends, vibrato, ect - as has been mentioned) - although it was kind of a conscious effort to keep on going - as said in the description, this whole jam was supposed to be just a test/warm-up for another song so I didnt think too much about any of those things. Ill be uploading some other things in the future thatll hopefully show I can better phrase things. :)

  • I will look forward to the upload :)

  • Pretty cool man. What kind of wah do you use?

  • Cheers. I'm using a Vox 847 in that vid.

  • this just minor pentatonic?

  • Not just that, check the info box at the bottom!

  • cool it's really nice i just wonder how do poeple come up withj all those things cause their improvised how do u do it?

  • heh, dunno mate. I guess people just get comfortable with certain scales and ideas and build from there.

  • a humbucker on a neck pickup?wow never seen that before,I got a Fender Mexican Standard Strat, and in 1h i'm going to get a Fender American HSS Strat,Sienna Sunburst

  • the intro in which pickups you play? middle and neck or what?

  • I use the neck-pickup all the way through. (Dunno if you can make it out, but it's actually two humbuckers on that strat).

  • I though because of the sound it produces

  • Is that a Strat?

  • it is! a squire though.

  • iieeaahhh... i like it. it sounds really good. you got it. grz

  • that's an a minor scale.....pretty cool jamming!

  • Awesome improvisations. But as stated, you could add a hint of Froo in the mix:)

I'm going to figure out a new part for the pre verse right after the first chorus.

What scales were you using for this?

  • Check the info box, a lot of people keep asking me this so I'll add in there in a sec! Thanks for the input!

  • a-w-e-s-o-m-e

  • that was d0ope but u gotta add more frusciante in that man

  • Love it. Awesome, fresh take on a great song.

  • Incredible...you're amazing

  • ahhh!!!! sexy!!!

  • hey, I just got back from gigging this tune :)

I reckon you've got a bit too much compression - its causing a nasty peak at the start of every note, so use your yummy amp on a slightly crunchy setting without reverb, and you should get a tighter, punchier, guitarier tone! Your playings good, but would be nice to hear it recorded nicely with a mic :)

  • Hey. Cheers for the input mate. I think the problem with the tone is its pretty much all digital, the HRD was only used as a monitor for me - the amp is bypassed completely in the recording you hear. + I didn't really have a full understandig of the pedals I was using.

I do intend on mic'ing up my amp for some new vids. Gotta replace the tubes first though!

  • Very nicely played, Mate! Good flow, well versed

    phrases, an abundance of ideas!

    Cheers!

  • amazing=)

  • Nice sound!♥

  • luv the flow...

  • nice wah sound

  • woow dude that was awesome really thats maybe the best improv thing i ever saw really

    which scale do you use??

    btw your sound is wicked!!!

  • i am blown away that was amazing the tone sounds good too.!!!!!!!

  • Sweet 7 string.

  • Wooooah, that was prettty cool!

  • Real nice job on this - cool guitar, too!

  • is that a squier strat your playing???because i want to know how you get such a good tone from it!?

  • Heh, it is. I think it's from the early 90s, an era when Squires had a better reputation than they do now, so that might explain it. I got it about eight years ago for £400 which is pretty expensive for the brand.

    Just sold it actually!

  • Hehe, never thought that a Squier could sound so good. Nice job!

  • interesting tone, i liked it.

i actually thought this was more diverse than some of frusciantes solos. rhcp is my favorite band, but ive noticed that hes usually around the 5, 7, 10, and 12 frets. you seemed like you moved around a lot more than that. well done.

  • Excellent!

  • great really nice how much was the pedal

  • great playing, better than I can play at the moment. Just a little tip as a fellow guitar player. Remember that not playing is just as important as playing. Give your self some breathing time when soloing/improvising. The tone could have been better, but I liked the jam it did sound a bit like frusciante.

  • I came a little. UG FTW

  • that was cool

  • WOW so negative comment !! I loved the sound man so keep jamming!!Cheers

  • ur so fuckin good

  • thats some funky shizzle, lol, 5 stars

  • what petal are you useing it sounds godly^^ wicked playing btw

  • Thanks. As far as I can remember, I think I was just using a Vox 847, a Boss compressor and a GE7 equalizer.

  • Really great stuff man, keep it up :)

  • any tips? u r way amazing btw

  • i feel infinitely outdone. i wish i could play guitar as well as you can.

funny though, i have the same guitar as you do.

just thought i'd throw that in ;P

you are better than anyone i've heard at improv.

    keep playing.

  • woah, thanks very much!

  • Almost sounds vinyl!

    Awesome.

  • you rokk

  • fucking amazing! i liked the little bit at the end!

  • Nice guitar playing, you're really good.

  • very nice work man..keep it up

  • You certainly wont be waiting long before you're jammin like Johnny boy :) really good buddy ;) very impressive :)

  • cheers mate!

  • Cool - I came to check out the seven-string - that's prety wild. Nice solo - it'd work for "Last Dance for Mary Jane" too!

  • Wow that was pretty hot man! Nice!

  • This is really cool! Thanks for the comments on my video, too!

  • great work but some parts are copied from the solo or the second guitar, but anyway great :)

  • yeah, it was intentional. cheers! :)

  • AMAZING!!!!!!!!

  • NICE

    YOU WROTE THIS?

  • Nah, all improvisation off the top of my head. Then I just tried to develop some of those phrases whilst also trying for some of Frusciante's licks from the real tune.

  • Excellent! Loved it. *thumbs up*

  • Cool..

  • very smooth, funky, nice sounding with great effects

  • awesomeness youre amazing.. keep it up!

  • Man you are offically my hero jk but your amazing keep it goin

  • UG WAS HERE!

  • Wow!it is really very interesting, not tipical version.i like it!!!

  • sick dude. really sick

  • cheers everyone!

  • nice one, i really liked it.

  • Sounds good! Are you recording the audio into some kind of interface or is it straight from the camera's microphone?

I like your playing! Have you ever tried using an Auto Wah like the Electro Harmonics Q-tron? If you haven't, I'd bet you'd like it.

  • I'm using a Micro BR Recorder to layer the chords underneath the solo. It's a very handy piece of kit and surprisingly cheap.

I've thought about auto-wah before, must get round to checking one out.

    Cheers for the comments everyone!

  • great!!!!

  • Amazing stuff! that was awesome. I really love the sounds of that guitar.

Keep up the great work : )
