Hey, your studio is neater than ours. I set our studio tour to a rousing little acoustic rock song with some eastern influence. If your interested Search "Deep Blue dJinn in the studio, Jan 2011" Thanks,
Great studio! I will be nice to spend a week training at your place. I'm researching the Ghost/ HD 24 for a home Studio. If for some strange reason you had to replace them today will you go with the Ghost/ HD 24 combination.
is there any way you can see the wave file recorded on the Alesis? and edit them ? or you have to download it to a computer then upload it to the machine ?
if you edit outside the box you don't need to "see" the waveform. this can be done in the signal chain with the rack gear either before the hd recorder or before summing the channels into master (the 2-track recording which is usually edited with mastering tools).
Hi man, great studio. I don't know if you can help me with a doubt that I have. I wanna buy the Alesis HD24 but I'm not sure yet, lets say tha you are recording a full band and you use 18 channels of the HD24, later if you wanna record another channel (for a Guitar supousse) in the minute 1:05 of the song, How do you do?? You can go to that point with the HD24, or you have to wait and record all the track until come this part. I hope you understand me. Thank you very much! Marcos
I mix down from the Alesis through the Soundcraft Ghost, using the Ghost's wonderful EQs, adding outboard effects, compressors, and the tube head, saving the half track stereo mix to either the DAT deck or the computer. I master and digitally edit the final stereo tracks on the PC.
I love the sound craft ghost. I think it sounds much better than Mackie boards. The British really know how to make quality consoles. The alesis hd 24 is awsome to. Why don't you use pro tools instead of the alesis?
The HD 24 is much cheaper than the needed hardware to replicate 24 tracks of simultaneous recording. I love outboard gear. I don't hit the software until it's time to master.
I to love outboard gear as well, that is why i would use outboard compressors, gates, console, efx, patch bay.. with pro tools. I just feel that using the hd 24 alesis is limiting. Also, the sound quality of digidesign interface is another reason. Especially if you use the 192 hd. Anyway, with all the gear you have, you can still achieve a very prof. sound. Mainly cause of your sound craft. That console is amazing. Take care, nice talking to you.

So confused.... I was thinking about buying the hd24. Do you have to have a 24 track mixing board?
coreywhitton 3 years ago
Yes, the Soundcraft Ghost is my console.
fuzzbient 3 years ago
So all I need is a 24 channel board and one of those and i'll be ready to record? Do you plug a screen into it?
coreywhitton 3 years ago
No screen. It works just like an ADAT deck.
fuzzbient 3 years ago
So the first time you get your "tracks" onto a LCD-screen is when you transfer from the Alesis to a computer unit to final mix and master?
