I think Tool fans would also like Opeth, if they like Tool for the same melodic, flooding guitar sounds and poignancy of lyric like I do. If so, check out The Drapery Falls.
True. Everyone in the band contributes. Let's not bicker over things like that though and just agree that we need more music like this nowadays. I have to say 10000 days also seemed different to me. But come to think of it, so does each and every album. I love every fucking album these guys have made and cannot dilute it down to one as a particular favorite. I just have to say maynard's work has been one of my biggest influences as a lyricist.
THIS IS BY FAR THE WORST ALBUM TOOL HAS EVER MADE NEXT TO LATERALUS. THEY NEED TO GO BACK TO WHEN THEY FIRST CAME OUT ENOUGH OF THIS MELLOW BULLSHIT. OK THEY TRIED SOMETHING NEW IT DIDNT WORK OUT NOW THEY NEED TO GO BACK TO THE DAYS OF OPIATE AND UNDERTOW. I DONT KNOW IF I WOULD BUY A NEW TOOL ALBUM AFTER THIS ONE SUCKED SO BAD.
@vivalafiends sad as it is, i agree with your entire statement. Money and fame can change people. They lost all their anger and they became relaxed meditative guru types. Money will always be more powerful than anything on earth.
I give much respect to Maynard for his persuasive, subjective, and intelligent lyrics and his accurate and angry voice, but Tool has 4 members in it. They all create the song, Danny, Adam, and Justin just create the feel of of the song. They create counter melodies to toy with our minds and make us feel ecstacy. Tool has some of the best chemistry for a band that ive heard for a long time. So please stop giving only Maynard credit for the beautiful and dark songs on this and other albums.
not one of their albums sounds like the other...and all of them are epic...Tool has never made a bad song imo...cant wait to see them again this weekend
I dont know why everyone dislikes 10000 days just because it doesnt sound like undertow or Ænima I personally think thats its their best Maynard was going through some tuff times with his mom dying during the making of this album (which is what this songs about) so it shows how emotional Tool can get
I agree, I dont think its one of there best albums, but it also stands alone. Theres an underlying feeling of tragedy to it, which really shows in this song. Each one of there albums has a different element to it. Enima was mostly about turning anger into something more effective, and thinking for yourself, whereas lateralus was about taking it a step further, and breaking beyond the boundaries of perception and reason, but this one is more about death and loss, and pulling yourself together
@Stinkfist43 There isnt one tool album I dislike, scratch that....there isnt one tool song I dislike. So theres one for your pile of people that doesn't think that.
I feel this one actually harks back to aenima I feel ...lateralus was their "dark side of the moon"...it was their "perfect" album, similar to shpongles 3rd album or "kind of blue" by miles davis....these albums in their totality are a singular piece of music that generally compel you to sit through it all.
@Stinkfist43 I'm a great big Tool fan. But with the best of intentions towards all the hurt, it really isn't an Ænima is it... I'm a fan of the riffs, not the life story.
@JayT851 Tool is one band where the word "hope" is not a part of their fans' anticipation of the next album. Guaranteed quality, as long as they pull their fingers out at least once more.
@Stinkfist43 really? haha... when this album come out it took me a while to warm up to it ( being a habitual creature with it being different as you said from other albums) but this song was always my favorite from first hearing it, then as i listened more, it grew on me how awesome it was, this song has always been my favorite regardless...
Tools music puts me in a serene and very creative mood. most of my best art pieces were created listening to 10,000 days, which imho was one of their BEST albums.
well dude everyone has different tastes personally i like 10,000 days better then undertow myself i find it a more mature album it has so much world music influence you know to each his own
I think the members of Tool would be pissed to know there music is influencing dumbasses to go get in fights and shit, there definitely not hoping fans will do that shit.... in my opinion Tools music is supposed to help you get your agression out without fighting or doing something destructive...
love this album

Yes, i have to admit, that it was kinda "hard" for me, not to compare 10000days with lateralus.
Lateralus is Tool's masterpiece in my opinion. But after a view hearings 10000days did work well for me. XD

They're much better than that.
