  • Jesus, I am old. But before I get all down on myself, the fact that this was some of the first kids programmining and we were the first generation to grow up being aware that WE TOO could be on tv, if we were cute enough, talented enough or lucky enough. We were the generation that played the first video games, watched the first MTV, got the first cable. Everything else is an echo of what we went through. We are pioneers!

  • this is so old school this was one of the best shows they ever had put pbs kids now time to go watch pokemon season 1

  • Gahhh, I kind of wish I grew up in the 70's! The old zoom> new zoom by FAR!

  • Joe needs a hair cut

  • @tach409 totlally agree

  • this was my first intro to american tv.

  • sounds like all the kids are from brooklyn or manhattan., specially when singing.

  • I think Mark Wahlberg was inspired by this show.

  • I use 2 watch dis wen i was lil n im only 13

  • Awesome job! Would be nice if anyone had full episodes of he 70's series

  • I'm 40 now, and I clearly remember watching this in the 70's. We had the COOLEST PBS shows. This show was AWESOME.

  • I was addicted to Zoom!

  • WOW! The memories this brings back!! Really tripped out! Early 70's...I was about 5-6, very cool and just has a place in the psyche, hard to explain.

  • I'm a 90's kid yet i remember this show...

  • I did grow up in the 70s, but for some reason I always avoided this show. I remember switching the channel as soon as I heard the beginning of that theme song. Hearing it now gives me the creeps.

  • Joe had an awesome head of 70's hair. Jon always reminded me of Roddy MacDowell.

  • Im going to guess by how much she dwarfs everyone else, that lanky gal Nina didn't get asked to dance much

  • I grew up with this show, I am 48 now!

  • this is so funny im not used to this its all about the 90'2 baby

  • @1reazen Its really not that Funny. Be Glad that your did not have to grow up in the 70's and even the sixty's. My advise go out and refore undue this left wing Marxist crap! THese Department of Health Education and Welfare education techniques are why INDIA AND CHINA ARE BOOMING NOT ZOOMING.

  • @MsPerogi Sweetie your reply was greatly un-needed...

And with that I understand where your coming from...

I was just saying its funny how different the openings are...

  • @MsPerogi are you some kinda nut? it was great growing up in the 70's. I was there I know.

  • @mrFalconlem THe ivory tower white boys who sat back and smoked pot are out reality. To them the world was great back then. Now take a deep breath and look back.

  • Did this song inspire Wrecx-N'-Effect's hit song?

  • @grapefruitm00n i hope that's not a serious question

  • omg wuts wit joes hair :o

  • I still know how to do tricks w/my arms that they taught LOL!

  • Ahh the memories. The good ol' daze.

  • @noluv2u Absolutely!! They were truly the good ol' daze WAY before Teletubbies and all that little libertyville for dummies came out. Makes us want to hide! It was the best & the LAST modern time to bring up children. There were no such things as metal detectors or police guards in the schools. Kids did not blow up shit back then. We weren't angels, but we weren't America's Most Wanted neither. We were fun-loving, a little snooty, but not of the "mean girls" psycho-ward variety

  • @GenX4ever80s Amen!

  • this is so cute! I am a 90s baby and I love the new ZOOM, but this looks like it was awesome too! I bet I would have loved Joe and Kenny

  • @Eve4000 :-)

  • @Eve4000 Nothing can ever beat the original! I should know.

  • @SnugglySara Thank YOU! NOTHING can beat the original!

  • Man, the 70's were a weird time to be a kid.....I lived it....

  • This is freakin' hilarious! I love the look of confusion on Kenny's face at 0:40.

  • zuboom ubis thube bubest shubow ubevuber !!!

  • I bought the DVD of Zoom back to the 70's. unfortunately it only has 4 episodes on it (not enough!) so I'm watching it sparingly, not all 4 consecutively; these take me back in time, so I want to preserve the moment. I wonder what the kids' last names are (or were, if the girls got married) and where they are now. it would be nice if WGBH put all or some full seasons on DVD, like Sesame Street and the Electric Company was.

  • @CosmicCowboy25 Yup -- hear you. I wish there were more out there. Somebody once posted the entire first episode but it was eventually pulled down by YT (WGBH?). I miss my childhood...

  • @WonkaVator72 The GenX'ers were the best...we were the brightest and the least trouble making generation. Have you noticed that there were more people born after 1968-1970 who ended up arrested or were more criminal. We are even better than idiot greedy Baby Boomers. Baby Boomers did create better programming and were better as a younger generation, but boy did the Baby Boomers tank when they aged! Forget about anything after Gen X. More like, Gen-O-psychotic!

  • @WonkaVator72 I miss my childhood too! People were a tad bit better than today's kids, even the teachers were. People really did care back then. Not today. We of the 1970s-very early 80s had it pretty good....

  • @CosmicCowboy25 sadly WGBH has waaay lesser money than back then

  • @CosmicCowboy25 Thats exactly what it does to me, takes me back in time. Its almost like i'm living the moment all over again. I didn't know how much i missed that until i heard this. My thanx to the uploader.

  • @CosmicCowboy25 If you go to wikipedia and search "ZOOM (1972 TV series)" the article has all of kids' full names. If you google them, you can find out what most of them are up to now. For instance, Joe teaches psychiatry at Harvard.

  • Nina Cochina! XD

  • I liked Jon and Nina.......remember Fanny Dooli ?

  • I LOVED Zoom. I always wanted to be on Zoom too. I liked the Ubbi Dubbi. I liked Mike and Edith.

  • I had a huge crush on Tommy. I think he and Nina should've gotten married when they grew up. I was JUST the right age to watch this.

  • lmbo!!!!!!!!! Kenny! hahaha; I LOVE ZOOM!

  • KPITT1204...nice to know someone else was crushing on the ZOOM gals as well! LOL...they were all a tad older than me of course....well..alot older at the time. But still....

  • gotta love those future stoner kids.

  • pause at 0:41 LOL

  • OMG! I can't beleive that I remember these kids! TRUE CONFESSION: I had the biggest crush on Nancy! I wrote her, but received a postcard form Lynn instead. I can't believe that I can see my beloved Nancy again!!!!!! LOL

  • I'm 13 and I remember this show!!!

  • oh mi gosh was that really the beginning im 15 so i dont know this far back lol

  • If this was in 1971, Tracie and Nancy were probably just a little older than I was. Wow.

  • Was watching this in late 90s. Only thing i can remember is the straw-taped-to-balloon-on-a-string episode.

  • wow i really did't know that zoom was this old....

  • i watched this in the 90s till i thought PBS got boring and then there was pokemon :D

  • nostalgic win.

  • ahaa omgee. i used to watch this! :D

  • Woah...the 70s?! I was watchin this in the 90s

  • im 48...and i was 10 when it came out..i feel old..ty youtube

  • Don't feel old. I'm gonna' be 40 on August 30, 2010 and, thanks to YouTube, I, STILL, LOVE watching vintage childrens "edu-tainment" such as ZOOM, or "retro-entertainment," in general!

  • I am going to be 50 in December of 2010 and I remember these shows first run.Great show.I love Tommy's Bostonian accent.I should talk I am from New Yawk.LOL!

  • Wow, i seriously never knew this show was from the 70's. I used to watch this when i was a kid in the late 90's, now im 15...

  • yeah me too

  • @SMyD77777 Amazing, you mean people were alive before you were born? ;) LOL Glad to see you are expanding your horizons.

  • WOW I never knew this was originally from the 70s!

  • For some reason this show really bugged my dad (even though it was on PBS, which he would have gladly sold us to support)... maybe it was the kids acting odd all the time, running around and what not, but this show was a LOT better than Wonderama in his eyes!

  • I remember this show from those days (I was about 8) and for some reason I didn't really like it either. I think maybe I found the black backdrop depressing.

  • i use to watch the more recent zoom episodes but this show has been going on way before i was born!

  • This is how the intro should have been to The Warriors....

  • Is there a way to get these episodes back on youtube?

  • hmm this was before the striped shirts... striped shirts is what made zoom... zoom!

  • remember ubbi dubbi?

  • PLEASE leave that subject dead... all we need now is a resurgence of ubbi dubbi!!!!

  • @birdzbrainz could never understand what they were saying. i think i might be slightly retarded.

  • @birdzbrainz Yubes!!!! ubbi dubbi was the best!

  • @birdzbrainz Yubes. Someone posted an Edith vid where she speaks it.

  • @birdzbrainz Make that "yubb-es." ;-).

  • Right. This is the original from the early 70s :-).

  • What happened to the episodes they had of this on youtube?

  • I think WGBH forced them down.

  • I hate how videos are always being removed.

  • Love you, Tracy, from a first season ZOOM fan! All best!

  • I know is soo cute.

  • lmfao im scared of nina it's like her song is from a scary movie XD

  • talk about a blast from the past cool stuff

  • i dont remember all episodes but i dont remember the theme either...noto to change subject ro spam btu anyone remember George Shrinks

  • Kenny is just pissed.

  • this was my favorite show! PBS rocked it!

  • hey, did anyone have a crush on me? LOL...I had lotsa fan mail.

  • Groovy, i like to see this version of zoom,as a techno intro and I plan to work on making zoom for all youth, both of young and old.

  • This induces an involuntary fugue state in my regressive brain centers (born 1970).

It seems like for a minute there THE MAN didn't have a stranglehold on the tube .

  • great memories...thank you......

  • Thanks for this!

  • Jazz Hands!

  • what happend to the first episode of this? it used to be on youtube. Can someone please tell me where it is on yourtube, or did it get removed?

  • This was GREAT. I miss this show so much. And Im almost 40. If i had kids, I'd buy DVDs for all these shows and make them watch it, along with Electric Co. and old school Sesame Street. This stuff is soooooooo much better than what kids get fed today. Looking back I feel spoiled and somewhat fortunate.

  • OMG, I still have the original Zoom Album with this cast. I used to have such a crush on Nancy, who I found out lived not too far from me. What memories. Thanks for posting this.

  • I also had a crush on Nancy. When I lived in Niagara Falls, New York from 1970-73, I sent her a love letter, but I never did receive a reply.

  • I finally met her in 1983. I finally got the chance to tell her how much of a crush I had on her. She was sweet.
