Thank you to the bitchin luthiers out there building things that nobody has ever seen or heard and putting them in the hands of people willing to go beyond 6 strings (^_^)
it is impressive, but people are failing to realize that it's just a guitar with a few extra strings with set tunings, if he already knew how to play the guitar, it would have been fairly easy for him to pick this up.
I find Harp Guitars really impressiv, but I have to say, say that for me making music is something social, sharing good music with others while making it is something essential for me! So I'm impressed, but lets do that with 3 people and make 3 people happy instead of jst 1^^
it's beautiful! where can i find one of those things? its almost like the very bottom strings are drone sitar strings and the rest is like almost everyother harp guitar ive seen. never seen one before..great playing!
Fantastic arrangement and playing, fantastic instrument and fantastic filming. How anyone could call this anything other than good filming greatly confuses me.
It's good to finally hear this instrument, I remember reading about it some time ago and I thinkt it a great expansion on the more common kinds of harp guitars.
The guitar is by a guy named Fred Carlson, who is a woods-wizard, and has been alive for thousands of years. Fred was actually a playmate of Tom Bombadil, back in the day. The first instrument he made was the Tuned Pebbles, which he would drop over descending rocks in a woodland brook. He has built guitars from the remains of Ents, bequeathed to him by the Ents themselves, when they decided to pass on. If Fred tells you this instrument is made of Entwood, you'd better believe him.
I totally believe this is made out of entwood. On the other hand: Ents have been much too lovely to be killed for a guitar.
Anyway, this is my biggest dream to one day own a guitar from Fred Carlson, especially this one. I feel like not playing anymore before I have that one.
laughter is good. I'm not kidding about a single word of it. Test it out scientifically. Listen to the music. Try to describe the thrill. Fred may be the reincarnation of Tom Bombadil! -edwinson
Just want to say I've enjoyed watching this video many times. It's through people like yourself we can enjoy these treats on youtube. I think the camera angles showed nice detail of the instrument as well musicsol.
I disagree with that comment musicsoluble, I think the filming quality is brilliant, he did a really great job with capturing a haunting tune. The instrument is also portrayed clearly!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Beautiful performance, wonderful instrument. Poor angle choice in the edit! It was :30 in at least before I saw the instrument. This cut should show more interesting angles and feature this exquisite instrument better. Not just the headstock! A master shot is ok. Whoever cut this, does not know the instrument he is looking at. What strings are sympathetically ringing?
Wow! Your comment is the first to criticize my ability as a filmmaker in nearly a year. I did the lighting, camerawork, and the edit as a one man band. Alex DeGrassi was pleased, Fred Carlson (the designer) really liked it, and Greg Miner (the man who distributed the audio recording) had nothing but compliments as well. Not to mention countless nice comments and a continual five star rating. But I guess I can't please everyone. We have a German judge here.
It's not a guitar. It's a sympitar called "the flying dream." I'm pretty sure he only made one of them, so I doubt you'll ever come close to owning it.
You are correct. It's a sympitar, however it is called THE NEW DREAM. I just put guitar in the title so more people would find it in the search. Nobody searches for sympitar as a key work.
