@11xzxzxz : The "81" was a dance, and this song is about doing it - much like "doing the twist" created a fad in '61 for Chubby Checker's #1 hit. THe While it wasn't as popular, the "81" was a BIG hit here on the East Coast, and some of us old-heads can still "do" the 81!! I wish someone had a vid of people doing it.

Also I am usually not into dance music or songs like the Twist but this is special as is Monkey Time by Major Lance, written by Curtis Mayfield. Remember Um Um Um Um Um by Major L ?That is great as is Going to a Go Go by Smokey R. Take care and if I ever see a video of the 81, I will let you know

I remember it being on the American Bandstand Show. WOW am I getting Old !
