I doubt they would use this for SRW. People get pissed when there is no Getter Robo, imagine if there was no Kouji Kabuto. And I really cannot see them putting this side by side with any other mazinger franchise. Although, they could brainwash Tetsuya and he could pilot it. Great Mazinkaiser
@ThanatosRW On the contrary, considering SRW Z's concept of alternate universes (thanks in part to Orguss's story), it makes it a possibility that SKL exists in one of those said universes. We know that Shin Getter in Z2 is from a different universe than classic Getter from Z1. The Shin Mazinger Zero manga also mentions of Mazingers existing in parallel universes, with classic Mazinger being among them (Shin Mazinger is set in another). Thus, SKL's existence among them.

With Terada already saying Shin Mazinger will be the standard for future SRW games, it's highly unlikely we'll see a SRW game without Koji, even if SKL is included (unless Koji's familiarity from Japanese fans faded over time).

But because Japanese gamers don't like the characters to stray away from the original source canon, the stories and characters in the franchise behave as such. There are a few exceptions, such as the Ideon ending in SRW F Final and SRW Alpha 3 as completely avoidable.

SRW J made me wanna check out Layzner, videos for Z2 makes me wanna check out VOTOMS, and the recommended bar next to the layzner opening makes me want to watch Dragonar. It is good for older or lesser known series to get a spotlight (yay, Daiguard), but sometimes, it would be nice to see series actually blend rather than exist side-by-side. Keep it in character, no problems.

Mazinkaiser swing sword yea it's okay, but using pistols/dagger? What blasphemy is this? And instead of waiting for the turbo smasher punch coming back, they should have followed up with Koushiryoku Beam, Rust Tornado and Fire Blaster combo. Even an army like Mycenae was render unto nothingness in like three minutes, which would actually save the animators a lot of time and the company a lot of cash.
Still seeing the battle style, this Kaiser seems to be more close combat oriented.

No, no, no! Guns are good for Shin Getter since it has more of a gangster feel to it, but Kaiser just doesn't feel right with guns. They destroy its majestic air.

@WingZero1223 SKL takes place in an alternate universe where much of the world is in ruins. The staff of the series made it clear that Koji and the other casts of the original Mazinger series will not appear in SKL because their characters doesn't suit the grim world of SKL. Ken and Ryo are the spiritual successors of Koji and Tetsuya.
@Getterzinger What I meant is that the original characters from Mazinger Z (Koji, Sayaka, Dr. Hell, etc) will not appear at all. Instead, references to other Go Nagai works will be used (Tezuka Star System). Ken and Ryo are designed to look like Koji and Tetsuya. Devilman's face appears on the Breast Triggers when fused to SKL's chest. The Psycho Gears (female mecha) and pilots are all based on Cutey Honey, etc.
A damaged Mazinger Z appears to fight in the novel version apparently but the pilot remains a mystery and it's not going to appear in the OVA unfortunately ;_;
I've seen plenty of classic HK shooter flicks. I'm saying that the scenes of the Mazinger shooting up the other mechs in the last third of this clip were lifted directly from a 2002 American film called Equilibrium. Check it out some time, then you'll know what you're talking about. ; )
Btw, did i hear at least two familiar voices, right? Ken (melee fighter) -> Kenji from Koutetsishin Jeeg; GRK-7's pilot's voice sounds like one of Invader-possesed ambassadors' voice from Shin Getter - Sekai Saigo no Hi, even appearence is somewhat simular, amirite?
@amuro0093 The DVD is for those who buy the Chogokin Starter Pack, which is in very limited quantity. The general release of the OVA for both DVD and Blu-Ray is Jan 28 2011, while the theatrical release version comes Nov 25th 2010.

To be fair, Shin Mazinger WAS a little light on the action at times.

In a nutshell, Shin Mazinger is how the story of Mazinger Z SHOULD be had Nagai have his way without the censorships and all. The action in Shin Mazinger was indeed compromised to give a more precise, detailed story of the Mazinger story.
@ryoga316 like i said he adapted 3 mazinger mangas for the most part with some violence jack chars. z mazinger (zeus) , mazinger z: relic of terror by ken ishikawa (kedora, the new mazinger design also comes from that one shot )and the original mazinger z manga by go nagai (lorelei arc). he also took scenes from the mazinger z manga by gosaku ota (when ashura was about to kill himself and couldn't in episode 22). so that kinda makes it 4.
@CheeseGundam I know perfectly what it means. "An outstanding work of art or craft." What Imagawa did with Mazinger, by successfully mixing 3 unrelated Mazinger mangas into one single cohesive story with the right amount of plot twists is simply just a masterpiece to me. Let's leave it at that. There's a reason why Nagai prefers Devilman over Mazinger. Shin Mazinger had that Devilman level of writing that the original Mazinger manga didn't.

Freaking awesome, The character are already totally bad ass. And nice phrases "We are dead untill they come back" or like they put there foot on the man. I loled.
After this trailer i believe it will be better than Shin mazinger but it may have a change if they finally announce Shin Mazinkaiser.^^

It's interesting. The piloted robots give it a sort of "real robot" series feel only it's a "What happens when you let a Go Nagai mecha loose in a real robot series?"

I don't really mind the modern re-imagining since they just gave us Shin Mazinger which was good enough for my retro fix..

@WingZero1223 SKL takes place in an alternate universe where much of the world is in ruins. The staff of the series made it clear that Koji and the other casts of the original Mazinger series will not appear in SKL because their characters doesn't suit the grim world of SKL. Ken and Ryo are the spiritual successors of Koji and Tetsuya.

@Getterzinger What I meant is that the original characters from Mazinger Z (Koji, Sayaka, Dr. Hell, etc) will not appear at all. Instead, references to other Go Nagai works will be used (Tezuka Star System). Ken and Ryo are designed to look like Koji and Tetsuya. Devilman's face appears on the Breast Triggers when fused to SKL's chest. The Psycho Gears (female mecha) and pilots are all based on Cutey Honey, etc.

I've seen plenty of classic HK shooter flicks. I'm saying that the scenes of the Mazinger shooting up the other mechs in the last third of this clip were lifted directly from a 2002 American film called Equilibrium. Check it out some time, then you'll know what you're talking about. ; )

@amuro0093 The DVD is for those who buy the Chogokin Starter Pack, which is in very limited quantity. The general release of the OVA for both DVD and Blu-Ray is Jan 28 2011, while the theatrical release version comes Nov 25th 2010.

@Getterzinger Eh, it depends on what he means by entertaining. Some people find action more entertaining, others find a good story more entertaining, while still others might prefer something else.
To be fair, Shin Mazinger WAS a little light on the action at times.

@BrentDubroc What Imagawa tries to do is to make Shin Mazinger a more modern, clearer version of the Mazinger Z story. In a nutshell, Shin Mazinger is how the story of Mazinger Z SHOULD be had Nagai have his way without the censorships and all. The action in Shin Mazinger was indeed compromised to give a more precise, detailed story of the Mazinger story.

@ryoga316 like i said he adapted 3 mazinger mangas for the most part with some violence jack chars. z mazinger (zeus) , mazinger z: relic of terror by ken ishikawa (kedora, the new mazinger design also comes from that one shot )and the original mazinger z manga by go nagai (lorelei arc). he also took scenes from the mazinger z manga by gosaku ota (when ashura was about to kill himself and couldn't in episode 22). so that kinda makes it 4.

@CheeseGundam I know perfectly what it means. "An outstanding work of art or craft." What Imagawa did with Mazinger, by successfully mixing 3 unrelated Mazinger mangas into one single cohesive story with the right amount of plot twists is simply just a masterpiece to me. Let's leave it at that. There's a reason why Nagai prefers Devilman over Mazinger. Shin Mazinger had that Devilman level of writing that the original Mazinger manga didn't.
