  • I'm tripping balls, and I didn't even take any drugs!

  • @princebubby- I also played this while studying for my maths final and aced it. It's amazing =D

  • Maths*

Boards of Canada is Scottish. Get it right.

  • I'm listening to this brilliant music while working on a math paper ... glorious.

  • =THIS IS NOT MUSIC... THIS IS ART=

  • Theres music, and then there's Boards of Canada. Feeling.

  • This is pure cosmic and trippy beauty

  • Therefore, there are patterns, everywhere, in Nature....

  • @lebocharp When I was a little kid, my mother told me not to stare into the sun. So once, when i was six i did.

  • @Mitsoyba666 phyics is nature. It's how things work. Physics exsist whether we understand the rules or not. How many un-explainable things happen? It's not magic, it's just nature we don't yet understand.

  • Life (including music) is math! ;)

  • BOC is the best music for travelling in the city, outside the city and especially outer rim of galaxy...

  • makes sense that i'm listening to this while studying for my math eqao? hell yes

  • its weird that i can revise maths whilst listening to music but when i revise any other subject then the music distracts me

  • We'll all fall, we'll all fall down...

  • There should be a theory that the universe won't end with an empty "nothings", but a large energy mass, and from there, the universe should be "reborn", like Big bang. It is with other words an endless cycle, and everything you experience in this universe have happened infinite times, and will happen again infinite more times. We are of course talking about so many years, that there wouldn't be enough atoms in the universe to count as one year. But it is worth it by these 5:22 minutes.

  • I love this song. Its like being at the beach at night, laying on the sand with tranquil waves washing over you, while the eerie sky echoes above in cosmic agreement.

    Its just such good dubstep.

  • @carlomartu speaking from experience or just a guess?

  • @carlomartu it's not dubstep, but i agee with you.

  • I like these moments when you stumble upon a piece of music like this and it just leaves you speechless

  • hooters at 1:32

  • mathematics is the language of nature...

  • @mitsoyba666 i thought maths was the language of physics, and physics was the understanding of nature

  • @RelativelyHostile1 but physics is nature.... its the same :)

  • @mitsoyba666 physics isn't nature, its the understanding and trying to explain nature

  • @RelativelyHostile1 i think we say the same thing

  • Holy shito! I'm soo ripped and this music is just a water flow in my head!

  • man, i am going insane,

  • this is a lot like l'existence by vetrix

  • @AlexRider001 You mean L'existence by Vetrix sounds a lot like this, lol. This song predates any of Vetrix's work by like a decade. XD

  • @IDFPleonexia do you really think i don't know that oO

how dense do you think i am?

  • @AlexRider001 I'm just saying, I never implied you were dense.

  • Does anyone else think that the thumbnail picture for this video look's like a joint?...no, just me then...

  • @kontroledkos

Yeah, looks like it's blasting off from the wrong end though!

  • @logybear86 ...you could light that joint from both ends and I'd figure out a way to smoke it!

  • @kontroledkos

Haha... roll up another and make it a T joint!!

  • That end was fucking scary

  • I don't see this mentioned on this video, but play this song and "In A Beautiful Place Out In The Country" at the same time, with this song about 3 seconds behind (start the other song and flip to this one; listen for the start of the second tone in the other song and start playing this one). See my comments on the other video for a few more tips on how to synch them up. The point is very precise, though, so the mix won't sound right most times (but it will when you get it right).

  • I think the problem with today's kids is that we grown with media that goes by so fast, and is so straight-to-the-point, that we can't appreciate to wait or enjoy something that isn't straightly upbeat riffs. I hate my generation. Boards of Canada is awesome.

  • soon 1939 will be 100 years ago!! WOW! and what a tune!!

  • @TheBigrodger not that soon. That's like saying "soon 2007 will be 1000 years from now!"

  • this literally sounds like a slowed down Xanopticon. cool stuff

  • 240p: -.-

  • @CROMASMOL

To be fair this was uploaded in 2007.

  • @DarkenIsGod

Is it in a lower music quality (the video is ok in 240p.)?

  • @CROMASMOL

The sound and video are compressed, so yes.

  • Reminds me of a more ambient Black Moth Super Rainbow.

  • GREAT dubstep!

  • @carlomartu this is not dubsteb.

  • i feel bad for people who can't enjoy this

  • Although I'm only 21, this music and video always make me feel like I'm reminiscing back to a life I had in the 60's...so cool!

  • fuckin nice mejnn! like we say in holland : kippenvel.

  • you got to love this type of rock and roll sound :D

  • The music is enough for a belter & a for better a whatever a saying - but whoever sampled this music, to these tunes, is not only a fucking legend, but someone I shall probably remember in ernest when I die... :-)

  • I'm reading Brave new world, to the sountrack of BOC....

might be the greatest experience earth can offer.

  • SO HOW DO YOU EXPLAIN THAT I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A LOSER IN MATHS, AND THAT I HAVE TALENT IN MUSIC ? hehe anyway B.O.C. are awesome !

  • realy modern art

  • Stunning piece. Reminds me of Klaus Schulze´s haunting composition, Freeze.

  • This song, strike that, this group makes me in such a weird state. Almost tranquil, verging on creative... Kinda like when I'm drunk, but my mouth doesn't say stupid things.

  • Everything is math. It's ones and zeroes all the way down, baby!

  • I love to listen to dubstep and jump around to it thinking its the best music ever.

...but then I listen to BoC all other music seems to become obsolete...

  • @KroweOfficial I can so relate to that, I love dubstep too, but this is amazing

  • @KroweOfficial

    stop listening to dubstep

  • @KroweOfficial Same feeling I got the first time I heard Aphex Twin, except for the fact that, that was like 8 years ago.

  • @KroweOfficial Not hard when you enjoy dubstep, the most shit filled genre in Electronic music.

  • @thomo1888 Even though it's full of shit, there're some real diamonds in that genre. Burial, Digital Mystikz, Zomby... Whole future garage, post-dubstep scene (even though those genre names suck, we need to separate them from dubstep scene).

  • @BeMuLT he talks about wobble brostep...youd check out hessle audio stuff if you dont know it yet. and the absolutely best stuff imo (although its not really dubstep but techno but you might like it) is by Shed. his albums on Ostgut and his EQD stuff are just insane

  • this. is. fucking. amazing.

  • Hey guys, there are boobs in this video.

  • Math-rock.

  • I don't know about you but Boards of Canada music usually boosts me when I'm doing maths/physics (at undergraduate++ level)

  • @KanzakiGNT So much so! I didn't realize it until it came onto my iPod and it was like [zooom] whoa, I just solved like 5 questions in a row no problem! New song comes on, I'm all slow and dumb again. :P I'm glad to know I am not the only one!

  • @KanzakiGNT

I do different stuff, Philosophy, ect. I have written graduate level papers while listening to nothing but BoC. I think I get a boost, too.

  • @KanzakiGNT I don't know ^^ You might feel more intelligent because of all the science in the video :)

  • @KanzakiGNT Full of the golden ratio

  • @KanzakiGNT That is so damn ironic, I am doing a college math exam right now as I am listening to this! XD XD XD

  • @KanzakiGNT Yep, with you. Boards of Canada is my philosophy essay's best friend.

  • PI BEST MOVIE AND MUSIC SOUNTRACKS EVER

  • this is the best

  • (if i didnt already post)

this vid makes me want to have a huge sattelite dish, a house full of these spinning thigs (0:42) and those boxes with alot of switches (2:56)

  • Pretty Chill

  • Amazing.

  • Is that Terence McKenna I hear? I could go to Wikipedia and look it up but i prefer human contact, even if it is over the internet.

  • For some reason I love the parts with the girl underwater, not ( only ) for the boobs but I find the footage really beautiful and dream-like. I must say that's a really amazing work for an amateur music video ; totally fits the mood of the song. That's one of my favourite BoC tunes as well, the first BoC track I've heard, too - I listened to it once but didn't really like it ; a week later I felt the urge to listen to it again, and I fell in love with this track ( and w/ BoC at the same time ).

  • ahhh welcome to the mind of the troll a place of intelligence, and culture but also a place arrogance, depression and self pity

  • one of the most important songs of my adolescence

  • Also, I fucking LOVE the "The past inside the present" line he keeps saying... Just try to wrap your mind around the PAST being INSIDE the PRESENT.....

  • @Gdunn585 I achieve that every day with breakfast.Sometimes even the future intervenes unexpectedly, like when I hadn't got used to the toaster yet.

  • @Velvetspoonful odd as far as the toaster goes. Its always "Now"

  • @Gdunn585 I thought you were making metaphysical jokes. I love the music as well, but I found that,well...As the past is untouchable,it is present flowing by, yet I also thought, well...The present actions can tend to a better future,as in planning ahead. As for future intervening with the toaster...That's because when you're waking up,it sometimes seems more like your present isn't already past.Lke you still have to fucking deal with it, and right now you have no experience of how to handle now

  • @Velvetspoonful I got ya man! I think of it as more of a time travel basis, you take something from the past (or future - which when your in the past or future its the "present") then come back to the "present" (Your timeline) then the past is inside the present. Its so nuts, I do like the way you said that tho, it was just hard me thinking the toaster thing hahahaha.

  • @Gdunn585 Like " Now " is out of hand - brain's best answer is to zone out... But wth...Hey,if You like this music, check out my channel, there's a playlist of ambient-post-rock-indie-nineties stuff you should find quite earfriendly.I've been composing it to record the stuff I liked while trawling the tube, and, well it's at your service for some discoveries ^^

  • OMG this amazing!

  • what will they think of next

  • After my cat knocked over my external HDD over 6 years ago, I had lost memory of A LOT of music I used to listen to while working on projects... Fortunately, a buddy of mine posted something on FB and I was reminded of this legendary act. How they slipped my mind for so many years is beyond me. But coming back and hearing these tunes reminds me of how I felt when I was working on whatever projects I was doing. B.o.C is simply the greatest downtempo group ever. I mean that with all my heart.

  • Obviously 77 Justin Beiber fans stumbled on this page in error!

  • @corryaiden NO!

    ....NO!

  • @corryaiden

    NO. [2]

  • awesome, pure fucking awesome, going to bed with this song was better then the last time i slept wuth someone :P

  • As a mathematician, I can appreciate this :-)

  • I like how it's not particularly great soundquality, it works :)

  • He didn't ask how to describe it... he said "how do you call this type of music" meaning what is it called. Meaning a genre.

  • only the beginning haha before the beat

  • I feel like i was sent back to the 40's in a peaceful little house with a beautiful lawn and little butterflys outside.

  • Me encanta BOARDS OF CANADA!!

  • Fucking mashed potatoes

  • how do you call this type of music? is it even discribeable?

  • @stomkieken it's usually called downtempo or chillout

  • @Theblob516 Actually it's called ambience/electronic. There is no such genre as downtempo or chillout, dumb cunt.

  • @Travijb Lol. The man didn't ask for the fucking genre-police, he asked how you would describe the music. And downtempo/chillout are definitely used by people to describe BoC. So get off your high horse you prick.

  • @Travijb Downtempo is an established IDM genre. Ambient has less of a beat than this, while electronic(a) is a broad term that is sometimes used to describe what's hard to pin down. This track could even be described as minimal. Reality isn't iTunes were everything is jammed into one of half a dozen categories, often incorrectly; the beauty of music is that there is always some genre or style to describe it with. Arguably in the end, does it really matter? Music is for enjoyment, not nit-picking

  • @Psychonaut1992 You are contradicting yourself majorly.

  • @Travijb Sorry, I meant "where", not "were", up there. It is kinda contradictory, yeah. I'm interested in electronic music history but at the end of the day I can't stand heated debates over it while a good track is playing.

  • @Psychonaut1992 Then ignore them. derrr.

  • This song is so chill its one of his best tracks by them (:

I am inspired by BoC to make music

Would you mind checking out my channel?

    Thanks<3

  • one of the best electronics duo ever for sure

  • This music is like detergent for my emotions... ahh, and now everything feels wiped clean...

  • AHHH SOOOOO GOOOOD

  • Brilliant.. really gets you thinking as you listen to it.

  • why so many people associate this tune with fear, funerals, feeling of cold and shit like that? wtf? for me this is a beautiful, sentimental and warm melody. makes me wanna think of summer afternoon, laying alone in a middle of meadow and looking at the clouds.

  • @michal23pl THANK YOU! you understand this music

  • @michal23pl just like Leo Dicaprio in Telecom Italia commercial.

  • @michal23pl Whatever you associate it with is subjective.

To me, it feels nostalgiac and melancholy. Why the fuck does it matter?

  • @michal23pl honestly, i dont know what i feel when i listen to this. i think the best way to describe it would be that feeling of stress just engulfing your body and squeezing down on it. but, like, you dont know why youre stressed. you just sort of are, so you really arent worried... just stressed.

    you know? haha

  • @ramafia09 yeah I know what you mean. sometimes that's how I feel when I'm too stoned lol

  • @michal23pl Something to do with the sound of a vast amount of space, and the pure abstract value of the sounds. Makes me feel lonely when I hear this.

  • @michal23pl: It’s the grinding vibrato together with the calming slow athmospheric pad. It’s used for traumatic sequences in almost every movie/series. And what is traumatic to most peope? You guessed it.

  • @Evi1M4chine from what I know they detuned sounds to give you the sonical impression of old audio/video recordings with sound affected by so called "wow and flutter". I guess probably the old documentaries from National Film Board of Canada. however I'm not arguing or sth. because It doesn't matter. we are all free to develop our vision. I just can't imagine how someone can think negatively when listening to this ;P

  • @michal23pl dude you put it absolutely fucking perfect...

  • @michal23pl @ the "Why so many ppl associate this tune with fear" sentence.

  • @michal23pl

Me more like travinling into outer space, seeing new wounderfull stars, planets and etc

  • @michal23pl This is one of their only songs that sounds completely innocent to me.

  • @michal23pl Bo muzyka BoC ma w sobie coś niepokojącego...

BTW kapitalne rzeczy masz na kanale :)

  • @Foodfast123 dzięki. pozdrawiam :)

  • Comment removed

  • @michal23pl I agree, you have to admit though the first layer of sound from beginning untill it kind of dissapears at 3:30 makes this song sound pretty ominous

  • Check out my new single "Life is Unfair" on my channel, its a really chilled out ambient boards of canada style of track with a deep message. All it takes is a listen, and who knows you just might like it, while I could hopefully get some exposure up in Canada.

  • On my funeral all i ask is that they loop this song...

  • If you like BoC, check out Little People.

  • @untoxic2 This. Also, AIR and Emancipator for some more awesome chill-out music.

  • @SC2V Hell yeah man, AIR are one of my favs maybe throw in some Moderat :D

  • walrus

  • this music is so wintery to me. every time the weather gets colder, i start to listen to this. it makes me feel like i'm enveloped in a blanket of sound that will keep me warm no matter what.

  • @elgoodo5 wow thats a great way to describe their music man! couldnt have put in better words

  • It seems BoC having given up on making music. How about we throw around a few suggestions of other artists worth checking out to fill the void? I'll start by recommending 'Ochre' and 'Casino Versus Japan'.

  • u dont have to be high to enjoy this!......... fuck it, im so fucking stoned haha

  • Music changes the way you see life, you can walk from your house to the park without music and you will just see it as an ordinary thing, if you walk from your house to the park with this song, your mind can't help but look at things completely different, you trip.

  • if you like this you might like coma by pendulum not the drum n bass band but i think they are older

  • You just know that Boards of Canada are our Pink Floyd. My future kids will be asking me about this band, just like I asked my Dad about past greats like the above mentioned. We may all get old BUT REAL MUSIC ALWAYS STAYS YOUNG!.

  • @redcommando1 Yeah, My Dad introduced me to BoC.

  • @redcommando1 Great analogy I agree 100% very well put.

  • ..... no comment

  • BoC..Brain of Control..

  • this music is addictive

  • AMAZING pairing of video with the music. Absolutely WONDERFUL.

  • Golliwogg APPROVES of this song.

  • Just beautiful in every way!!

  • my 8 year old nice could have composed this garbage on her little casio keyboard.

  • @2srvMan Then your 8 year old niece is a musical genius!!

  • @2srvMan Yeah!!!

If she had made something like this, you would have called it garbage!!... And she would cry..... And would never play on her keyboard again. But dont fear.... You can capitolise on her talents. Could you please send me some of her stuff, i am dying to hear it, She sound as if she is a bit of a musical prodigy, with an extreme understanding of complex musical production!

Ask her if she wants to be in my band. Ta

  • i've heard about 6 tracks from this band cause someone posted a comment that they are as good as radiohead, and...

    please, this band blows.

  • @2srvMan yeah that's why radiohead loves them. nobody get's it on the first listen. keep trying.
