  • Tried to play Quake III Arena on dial-up. Almost always ended in ragequit.

  • Nigger

  • i have DSL =_= getting fiber optics in a few months though :D

  • i hated dial up it took 30 minutes to fully watch the goo bwah video

  • I hate that dial up connecting sound ! OMG ! THE HORROR !

  • Dial-Up internet was possibly the most frustrating things that I had ever gone through.

It was my first time using the net and I'd go on Cartoonnetwork(Sucks now) to play the

adventure games. It took 7 minutes to freaking load the game and half way through the

damn thing, some body would call and knock the internet off. That made me furious lol.

You can't do ANYTHING about it.You just watched as all the f'king windows began closing

and then "Goodbye - Goodbye Ding Ding" Sound.Omg!Traumatizing!

  • I remember dialing u0p on my new 14.4 kpbs modem saying to myself...someday everyone will have a pocket phone with internet so fast you will be able to do video calling and surf the net with it. Everyone thought I was nuts. My 'mobile' phone at the time was the size of a briefcase. You charged it overnight to get 15 minutes of talk time at $1 a minute.

  • I remember when I got my 14.4 kbps modem. I thought it was the shit. SCREAMIN 14.4 baby.

  • dial up is so slow a snail is faster than it good thing i don't have it anymore

  • I have 6000/756 dsl and it acts like dial up all the time.

  • aol was awesome at that time but then I tried to load a flash movie forget about it left it on over night nothing! Now my andriod can easily do that in less than 1 min.

  • it was bad. AOL ran my bill up to $1000.00

  • ANNNNNNNNNNNNNNANANANANANANANAA SCREEEECHHHHHH ANANANANANANANANAN

  • Holy shit its that nigga from Lock Up!!!!!!!!!!!

  • idk what the video is about, i clicked the video last week and its still loading (i have dial up)

  • In australia a few years ago a 500kbps connection (considered broadband) cost $100 a month... I pay that for a connection over 100X faster now.

  • Hated every moment of using it. Everything took like 10 minutes to load.

  • The last time I looked in about 2004, one reason that people still used it, is because they made it almost impossible to cancel. They'll upsell you aggressively, and say anything to snow you over. There were guides on how to cancel, often involving sending a legal form via certified mail. Also, people didn't want to change their email address and didn't know how to reconfigure anything. They thought it would be hard.

Search google for "how to unsubscribe from aol".

  • 11 people have dialup.

  • There was something warm about dial up with AOL UK at the time, that noise was a confidence booster that told you it was working. I remember moving to ADSL with 1Mb for the first time, my god the difference.

  • Oh yeah ... dialup was painful. And it was even worse when you had that friend who had high-speed but you didn't, and they would email you a two meg attachment and it would get you all pissed because it would take FOREVER to download your emails when they had attachments.

    Ahhh the memories.

  • im in Australia an the internet is slow it might as well as be dial up BRING IT FIBER

  • Oh shit, I remember when I used to have to GTFO the Internet so people could reach my house number.

  • good old times i used to start downloading 2 minute porn clips in the night and then jackoff in the morning lol

  • i remember trying to download blender (3d software program) was 42MB it would get to 20MB and give me a message saying the download timed out and I couldn't resume it from where it left off.... FUCK DIAL UP!

  • Dial-Up was honestly a great service back in 2000 to 2004, but with the rise of High-Speed sites became optimized for High-Speed. I was on Dial-Up until 2008, but I was still fine with it. I'm one to say I'd rather take the stability of Dial-Up over Comcast.

  • i remember going to the library to play runescape cause my dialup was too slow....

  • @finaldestinyx I used to play Runescape on Dial up. Back in like 2006 it wasn't half bad.

  • omg as soon as you said "can you imagine watching a youtube video on dial up" the video paused for half a sec to buffer! lol

  • Even those farmers in the middle of nowhere here in Australia have Satellite! Gah, dialup was - IS - just bad.

  • I remember when I was 8 in 98' it took like an hour to download and use msn messenger,

  • I rember dial up, only could get on the internet at late when around the time noone would call, sucked like google+

  • There was a simpsons flash game, it was only 13MB big, I was on dialup for a whole day and it wouldn't even be half way done.... I never got to play it

  • Whats Dial up ?

  • Dude , some dial-up services are 1p /1 cent per min , that means that if you where on it for an hour it would only be 60 cents

  • I had a second phone like just for the internet so people could call at the same time.

  • I was 17 when I had dial up.......I was also very social hahah how times have changed

  • You're complaining about $17 for dial up? we get slow broadband limited to 60 gb for $100 a month.

  • @andyosully my broadband is getting slower and slower by the day, and it is limited to only 40gb per month. HEEEEEEEEEELP!

  • @andyosully lol..get a new ISP? or your out of luck.

  • Dude. I can't stand the jump cuts. There's way too many of them in this one. Just thought I'd point that out.

  • I remember when my parents told me to go on the internet because they didn't want any calls that night. :-)

  • i always loved the dial up noise

  • Well, I have only good memories about dial-up because it was my first! So even it was...horrible yeah=))) but other ways of communication were or to expensive or not qualified enough. So I miss these days sometimes =) have fun everyone!

  • at work we have dial up as a back to broadband incase it goes down or something. that's the main use for it i think. for the debit machines and such

  • thats sound is so cool

  • I remember dial up pre-internet days ... let me hang up to visit this other site really quick.

  • i was like 7 when i had dial up lol

  • fucking sucked

  • Ah yes back in the days of AOL and NetZero, Browsing the internet took forever over dialup, thank god for high speed cable internet and fiber optics

  • what are you saying at 0:40? :D

  • Parents are still on aol dial-up. Don't have dsl in their area and they are not keen on going through the cable company since they have satellite and really only use the internet sparingly anyways. In the past I was trying to get them to switch to some of the other cheaper dial up services and they tried it but for them Aol is simpler to use. You just open it and your email, instant messaging, and web browser is there ready to use and it came with spyware and antivirus tools bundled with it

  • ive got a shitty ass connection... I pay £30 a month and its dial up...so damn shit.... im only getting 200kb speeds....im from scotland by the way

  • i dont think i ever had dialup, but my grandpa did for around 2 years now he has dsl faster but still not fast enough for me glad i dont have that! Watching a 15 min youtube video on my ipad takes atleast 30-45 minutes!

  • We had AOL dialup before we got Comcast, and it was HORRIBLE! We had to pick up the phone during the dialup process or it wouldn't connect, and you could go take a shower or fix yourself food while waiting for youtube videos... definitely DON'T miss those days!

  • oh how i miss dialup

  • My family had two landlines. It never came up, but if we needed to, we could look up stuff on the Internet while still talking on the phone.

I got nostalgic last year and DLed AOLs "bring your own service" software, which you can use for free. It no longer says "You've got mail." Maybe it's an option. Anyway, what made AOL was the chat rooms, only those are a virtual ghost town now. It's a shame AOL took that long with allowing free access for "bring your own." Early last decade, it was still

  • I had dial up but I miss it! I miss that sound.

  • When we got our first computer we used AOL dial-up. I was seven or eight and was terrified of the noise.

  • Believe it or not, I first got DSL in August 2007. Before then I only had dial up. I survived. :3

  • METCONNECT

  • Your ending tune is AWESOME

  • i have a 16gb imac , is that mutter

  • Oohh the days of dial up, 3 and a half hours for a 14 meg file.. ha ha. And the best bit was that you had to use a download manager cause it would kick you off every 30mins.. good times ;)

  • Answers the phone, "dammit quit calling, you're knocking me offline!"

  • cos there are dinasaurs out there with their 28.8 baud modem still saying they just need email

  • My In-Laws live in a rural area and they just got broadband internet last year so trust me I remember very well what it like. The worst part is them trying to use youtube, it would load, then because took so long would load again.

  • I remember waiting 15 minutes just to watch 1 minute on youtube.

  • I used to have dial-up, but it was 10+ years ago, so I don't really remember much other than the sound.

  • i used to have dial-up that noise from it is stuck in my brain for the rest of my life

  • Oh god, i remember the nightmares of Dialup.. try networking 3 computers to use it D: lot of yelling going on. Then dad went back and got us back on Bellsouth DSL which was a load of poo when we had it, and we got comcast and been with them since, and it's been at least 8 or 9 years since we got that

  • dear goodness im 16 and dial up was such a horrible time.

  • @LiteCastStudios you would have been like 8...

  • @LiteCastStudios I know, I bet porn was slow as hell. -_-

  • @LiteCastStudios I'm 14, dial-up was pretty cool. Had a £1200 computer with dial-up, and I remember being on Runescape many-a-time when my brother would phone up his girlfriend, disconnect me and then I'd rage like a buttfrustrated faggot.

  • @Ominorvas dude that sucked the most.

  • Wow, I remember when I had to deal with my 56k Modem ... comparing that to my 150Mbps ...

  • @OnTheTuub where the hell are you, bloody japan?

  • @Mathewmartialart No, I'm in Massachusetts, USA.

  • my internet is 72 mbps baby

  • broadband bitch

  • i had dial up until 2008, then I got 0.3 mpbs and then I got 4 mbps and in 2011 i got 6 mbps

  • I remeber downloading 3 songs on napster in 1999 took all night.

  • i remember, i've spend 1.5 hour to download ICQ....only 6MB

  • Found you annoying when you hosted tehkseven, and still find you annoying. Can't believe people don't see that he doesn't care what you think. Seriously are you like the tech version of sxephil because jumpcuts are fucking annoying. Your videos remind me of youtube poops. Oh well this comment won't change you but it's sure to piss off your idiot fanboys;

  • DSL! Fiber optics are not avalible in to everyone in Queens, NYC. There is not enough bandwith in the area. One would think this would not be true for one of the most populalated cities in the country, but nope.

  • Why get that over HughesNET?

    I have AT&T U-VERSE 18mbps down/1.5mbps up.

Get NETZERO for $10. Get hughesnet for a little bit more, but a lot more than 52kbps.

  • I didn't know dial up still existed.

  • My family members would get upset that we had dial up because no one could ever call us.

  • I remember dial up, I was so confused, I didn't have speaker but it still made that annoying dial up noise.

  • dial up stinks bad

  • i'm thinking of making my ringtone into the dial up orchestrated music. (just plain old dial up noise)

  • God AOL sucked

  • Dial-up??? Who uses that we get 4megs down where I live!

  • I remember

  • I used to make breakfast while waiting for dial up to download an animated e-card. Sometimes, I'd be able to eat it, too, before it downloaded!

  • YOU GOT MAIL!!!!

  • AOL sucked and still sucks!

  • Oh man the dail up log in tone was terrible. Shit is terrible.

  • hahaah LMAO that most have to been a very slow today i have 54.0 Mbps

  • Oh my God, I remember dial-up! I used to get excited and jump up and down just for a picture! It'd take like five minutes and come in line by line. And I was extatic! Ahhh the 90's... My needs were so simple then.

  • we had dial-up until 2008 because we where paying by the min my parents only let me use the internet for 30 min a day, but that is not a lot when it takes a youtube video 5 hours to load now we pay $12.50 a month for 1.5 mb/s which is SUPER fast compared to dial-up

  • I WAS BORNN AND RAISED WITH HIGH SPEED INTERNET!!!!!!!

  • I'm only at 1.5 Mbps :/

  • LOL 0:52

  • I just couldn't put up with the lovely sound it made whenever you connected to it...ERRRRRARRERRRRWAHHHWAHHHERRRARRRRRHEREREREREEEEEEEEEHHHHHHH

  • I'm still on 2 mb/s DSL...

    for 17 a month

  • road runner

  • To watch a full youtube video in 2007 with dial up (10 minutes), it took between 12 and 24 hours. I know from experience. I've had broadband for a while now. It's amazing.

  • I love dial up sound!

  • I love how it took hours to watch a few minutes of a YouTube video and I can watch them now fine wirelessly lolz

  • My mom still has dialup. I'll call her and she'll yell at me for cutting off her Internet...

  • I hated that dial up noise.

  • 0:51 :D :D hahahahhahah oh man

  • 0:52 :D :D hahahahhahah oh man

  • in Briton , some lan speeds are so bad that they are only a faction faster than dialup, but thats for certain providers only, obsly, however i think the thing with america is how in some areas , there is only one or two providers.

  • Aol dial up is the best llmar I dont know what your talking about

  • LOL i miss that dial up sound !!!!

  • 9 people were using dial-up to watch this video

  • i have broadband at my apartment (20mb) but when i go at my parents house i have to stick with 3g connection, which is as bad as dial up fyi... lol ... so when i have to rely on 3g only all i do is use twitter some previously downloaded games and read my fav blog. with some patience i can check memebase, also

  • Dialup should just be free

  • @xSoothSayer11 Some places you can get it for free.

  • @xSoothSayer11 It is. Netzero, Juno. I've actually used the freedialup(DOT)org with google voice so that I could dial long distance for free.

  • @xSoothSayer11 xD yeah

  • 0:52

  • Dial up was the dark era of the internet. I remember when me and my brother were growing up and playing starcraft on bnet back in 1998... we would seriously jack all the phones on our house just so no one would disconnect us. I had earth link (does anyone even remember this company? lol) and I would write down my favorite numbers that I knew had a great connection (yes numbers) to dial up and connect too.

  • NEVER AGAIN!!!!

    DSL NEITHER!!!!

  • I remember my friends would call me and kick me off >:(

  • FYI, there are vast areas of rural Michigan where they have NO choice! Too much acerage, not enough people, greedy cable companies won't lay lines to provide service. So, it's dial up or NO up. TV is through satellite which is always blown down by storms; they can only check emails with no downloads. Man, that sucks!

  • i remember wasting 30-40 minutes to connect then have someone need the phone -____- Yeah good times....

  • dial up? I remember BBS 's and 2400 baud modems, hell I still have a tandy 100 with a built in 300 Baud and acoustic coupler. So what does 300 baud mean? more or less 300 characters a second (actually with overhead and error checking more like 200) Back then it would take literally hours to download a program that was less then a meg.... yup, I said meg! Video? Forget about it!

  • That sound makes me cringe.

  • I remember playing Everquest on dialup and when someone would use AOL instant messenger my gameplay would lag!!!!! OMG

  • Dialup.....WHY WON'T YOU DIE?

  • I remember I still had dial-up until sometime in 2002-2003. Then a nice local ISP brought out a 600kbps cable package. Oh, sweet mother sensual Internet delights, 600kbps was GOEGEOUS then. Now? That crap's lower than the 3G speed I would get on my phone!

  • man did it suck so bad!!

  • play 0:52 over and over HAHA

  • what tha hell is a dialup?

  • Ahh that sound at end , :D

  • I had dial up until 2004. Dial up was very slowwwww as heck... lol :P

  • Yeah at my dads he JUST got dial up in over 6 hours less then 2 minuets of a youtube video was loaded!... it sucks so bad!..

  • I grandmother just upgrade form dial up, like a year ago.

  • i had dialuup and a hour loaded 5 seconds of the video

  • i use to work at AOL...i will say they really took care of their people

  • It was terrible and noisy now we have wifi

  • You can get FREE dial-up internet in the UK.

  • I had dial-up until 2008......horrible, horrible....

  • Comment removed

  • My parents tell me stories of what they used to do while waiting for the connection to load. :D

  • i upgraded from AOL dialup to charter cable internet earlier this year, i cannot believe i put myself through that much HELL for so long!! it used to take 30 minutes to watch ONE youtube video!!

  • Oh gosh, I remember. It took a couple mins to load FB. I don't know if it was just us, but we could pick up the phone and talk on it and it would play on the computers speakers while on internet.

  • YOU GOT MAIL 0:50

  • lol my parents still have AOL dial-up because they can't get anything better where they live. I'll hate the day they get a faster service because they already send me too much junk mail.

  • why can't i call and do internet at the SAME TIME??!! LMAO
