  • These are great cars, I have an ls with the 2.2 ecotec just as you do but to be honest, something is wrong with yours. I can do 0-60 a lot faster than this, have you been keeping up with maintenance?

  • I have the same car my first gear shits on that!

  • There is also a 3.5L V6... It's pretty fast.

  • These are great cars I maxed the 3.5l at 115

  • Can these go over 100 MPH?

  • @wokeupthismorning100 Yeah, I topped mine out at 108.

  • I have the 3.5 V6 version of this car, I love it, yes, it's not the fastest, or best looking car in the world, but it gets great mileage

  • @nemoviesnews is your malibu an ls with a V6 or a lt with a V6?

  • @jamesk142 LS I believe

  • Haha I had to drive one of these for a week and it was PAINFULLY slow! However I found it to be one of the best cars to drive for comfort and drivabillity. If you are to buy one I would suggest sacrificing the fuel economy for a bigger engine. Also for those who own one with a 2.2L watch your timing chains. When GM built these they didn't allow for enough space at the bottom of the engine for the chain to fall into if it should break. Thus causing much damage to the engine and transmission.

  • How bad is it on the auto tranny to put it in low and go through gears?? cause when i really need to take off while i'm already going, I put it in low and drop a gear to jump the rpms

  • @dimitri19191 It shouldn't be too bad just watch the speed and the engine rpm that is doesnt rev too high also if it does a hard shift as it gears down dont do it at that spped anymore. Also depends on the manufacturer some may take it some may not.

  • Cant wait to see what the new 2.5 ecotec (2013 modle) can do!

  • I drove a 2005 LT V6. I didn't know if I would like it. But compared to the 2008 Equinox I drove it was a dream...the handling wasn't clumsy like the equinox and you could feel that it had more power. The roads were wet and I wasn't used to driving something with that much power (I have an accord)...The TC light came on several times because I got a little gas pedal happy at the stop signs haah. Very nice car. Period.

  • Something is definitely wrong with your car, are you keeping up with maintenance??

  • Dude get your car looked at! I have the exact same one and the pick up is great! I do 0-60 in about 7-8 seconds (which is amazing for the little 4 cyl).

  • I have the exact same car and i am surprised it took this one 11 seconds for 0-60... Mine does it in 7-8 seconds easy...

  • My v6 doesnt suck

  • Slow!

  • I just bought one an its crazy slow, but changing plugs to delco iridiums, synthetic oil (mobil 1) and cleaning the TB with the MAF sensor really helped with the fuel economy and pick up.

  • we just got a malibu and the v6 is way better but the radio in this car be hittin (cool car)

  • love the redline scream

  • omg no joke?? wow that is so dam slow!!!! thats like 11 seconds 0 to 60??? wow!!! im o dam uprised even for a 4 cylinder that is so slow its almost unreal and now i know i can outrun the undercover 4 cylinder malibou in my town =)

  • I own this exact car. Yes, the acceleration is pretty lame and it sucks on hills, but it's reliable, comfy, and gets great gas mileage. 117,000 miles so far, and still going strong.

Seriously, if you're going to say this car sucks because it's acceleration is bad, then that's like saying an Enzo Ferrari sucks because it can't tow a boat. You buy a car for what you need it for, and I certainly didn't buy this because I wanted to go street racing.

  • It is a very good car, very roomy, reliable, comfortable and great gas mileage. For a car this size, its hard to beat the gas mileage.

  • @wearetheos1 wanna talk about gas mileage? i got 35mpg out of my mom's 2002 malibu. 3.3v6 i believe. it's the 6cyl. forgot the volume of it because i'm more focused on my Dodge. 35mpg. isnt that what car companies are advertising now with 4cyl crap engines and all around junkier cars that fold up like cheap cameras? older is better in a lot of cases.

  • @howlincoyote2k1 i had no choice i had to buy my 04 malibu classic. and i didnt want it ;because it wasn't tuneable

  • @howlincoyote2k1 my mom has a 2002 malibu ls. it too is a nice car and suffers from the chevy city driving geared transmission syndrome. good engines, bad transmission gearing in my opinion. all in all it's a great car though. i think i'll stick with my Dodge Intrepid Police Package. Very happy with it. 0-60 in 4 seconds is my experience. 60-120 in another 7ish.

  • @howlincoyote2k1 ummmm Yes the acceleration from 0 sucks but if the car is rolling well I would say anything over than 25mph and you floor it this car will move. I haven't had any problems with mine on hills if anything when I go to San franny sometimes on the week ends I have no problem flying up Donner pass at 80mph or faster. I think you just need to give it some more gas lol

  • @howlincoyote2k1 You might want to drop and fuel injector cleaner in it Like "shafer oil" my fav. because yours is really slow usually from the light at the on ramp to the freeway i'm already pushing 80. Might wanna get it checked out.

but great gas mileage if you know how to keep the pedal off the floor.

  • I love my 2002 Malibu. The V6 is sick! But my GOD does it suck up gas when you hit the pedle. I'm not into street racing, just when the light turns green, I go and the 'rice rocket' next to me thinks I'm racing and tries to keep up... and can't. Funny thing is, I'm not trying to race, just go and the acceleration kills them. Once I hit the speed limit I level off and they keep going up. I guess small penises need to prove something. I'm just driving.

  • this cars is wayyyyyyyyyyy to big for this engine. LOOK at 0:38sec you can see the ground.

  • Oh.. And I thought those have a 2.4l ...well this girl I know has one and that's what hers is, ima rrace her ass now...and BET I win!!!!

  • FUCKin piece of shit slow chevy malibu , my 95 escort will smoke you!!!!! *an its only got 88hp. B hahahahah that's sad!!!

  • 5 sec slower than the SS

  • LOL a 1.5L Tercel is faster than this

  • 0-60 in 11.8 secs is very bad. Why the fuck is this car so slow?

  • buick? those are shit, my chevy malibu prob beats ur old grandpa lookin buick and mines all stock

  • You apparently know nothing about Buicks. Kid, shouldn't you be studying for the big test on Monday?

  • i know that my grandpa has a buick and theyre a piece of shit, fuck you, i bet u im much smarter than u, i may no nothing bout cars but i do know my studies. bitch

  • I own 3 buicks and they are all very nice cars. I have an 85 regal t-type, 95 lesabre and an 05 lacrosse. Why don't you like Buicks?

  • @buickman85 im not sure why he is that slow i own one almost the exact same its black and i do 8seconds pretty easily..

  • drop it in L it will red line

  • i got an 05 malibu same engine same model 2.2 ecotec....my car on a 1/4 tank of gas does a 0-60 in 8.6...how the fuck is your 07 with less miles than mine slower lolol?

  • Yea except it was the car of the year, faster, more reliable and cheaper than others

  • Haha civic si??!! Lol if u spend your money on any of those cars your judgement is laughable

  • Spending your money on a chevy is laughable.

  • i got 28 mpg with my 04 grand prix(3.8l v6)

  • All u riceboxes stfu I had an 07 ecotec and everytime another fourbanger pulled up i would show it the ass end of my chevy... The only problem is that if you hit a corner hard it kills the engine because damn kids think they can drift with fwd... That engines been called bulletproof by many magazines

  • Then you've obviously never come across an s2000, a civic si, or an sti. Or actually, you've just never come across any performance 4 cylinder car. Cause most of them would smoke it.

  • ummm no shit. put a civic up to a cobalt SS. lol

  • ehh. thats one thing i dont like from ANY automaker....an automatic tranny matched with a 4 banger.

  • its worse when it only has four gears

  • yea. i have seen pretty decent 4 banger auto accleration from a 5 or 6 speed auto.

  • lol idk if i could afford a Dodge Avenger lol

  • that was clearly 12 seconds. the video starts at 0 and ends at 12. im guessing u had the AC on adn maybe a slight incline?

  • heyy i am goin to get this for my first car soon is it a good car? my mom uste to have the same one but i didnt drive it

  • Yes it's a very good car. You will be happy with it. I used to own one. Now I have a 2009 Dodge Avenger (it's awesome). If you can afford it, i'd get the Avenger.

  • my friend had a 2005 malibu 3500 v6. absolute nightmare from the transmission, torque converter, electric power steering, not wanting to start especially when its cold, just countless problems and chevy could never "reproduce the problems" until the warranty was out then suddenly "oooh we see the problem"

  • I'll post a video of my 06 LS Malibu with no mods except for me changing the internal profile of the stock airbox.

  • slow and bad milage, so whats the point of this car

  • i counted to the 7's. its fast enogh

  • i timed it, 11 seconds lol

  • I think it's a flat 10, around 9.8 at the fastest, 10 the slowest. 11's simply unacceptable for any car nowadays lol.

  • i bet merging into traffics a bitch

  • my 96 accord ex does it in 9.2 seconds and also gets about 20 mpg...with 150,000 miles too, and far greater build quality :)

  • edit: 28mpg

  • the 08 malibu does 0-60 in 6.5 seconds and gets 30+ miles/gllin and has far greater build quality than accord

  • The 3.6L engine can get 0-60 in 6.5sec? I doubt it if the car is stock. I would guess it'll be closer to 8 seconds (seen on some other vids on youtube).

Also, the 3.6L engine is rated at 17/26 MPG. One can assume the driver will typically get approx 20MPG.

It's cool to support the US auto industry... but lying just sounds weak. Sorry bud.

  • accually your wrong

the 4cyl gets 30+ but doesnt go 0-60 in 6.5 seconds

    the v6 i wouldnt doubt

and accually the malibu v6 gets 17/26 mpg

and the accord v6 gets 19/29

and any ways the mpg has nothing to do with the build quality

  • didnt i correct my self a few months ago? i read somethig wrong and ya...you are right.

  • yeah right after i posted it i read it and i was like

    oh crap lol

  • lol

  • PickThisCar hello!! my malibu 98 ls v6 3.1 does it in 9.2 seconds, you can see her, in my video

  • wow thats slow as balls

  • those cars are pretty damn nice, but the 4cyl's are slow becasue the way they're setup for maxinum fuel economy and the way the tranny is setup.

problem is, they kind of stop you from going that fast to maintain maximum fuel economy. I'm sure they'll be improved later on.

  • Very impressed with gas mileage. I was driving it hard, quick pullouts, not much highway driving, lots of red lights to red lights and still 28 mpg for a midsized car. Good fit&finish, no rattles, & a fairly quiet engine. Very easy to program the auto door locks, auto lights & alarm right on the stereo. Minor things like, its very hard to see the readout on the stereo with sunglasses on even at full brightness, sunvisors aren't positioned well, the MPG symbol on the speedo is lit with a bulb.

  • 11 seconds..

my moms 4 cyl. Camry does 0-60 in 9 seconds and averages like 28 mpg.

  • my moms camry does dat too haha and its a 94 with 150 k miles on it
