i dont know what u guys think, but i find this pretty boring and feelingless, i dunno i think music its getting too worrry about technique and speed or what ever, and its forgetting about what is the feeling on the music, look at this guy looks like hes a robot, plus it all sounds the same buduududduuduuuuubuuuuudududududbuduruuuduu hahaha xD
@MetalyourMom this is a techniques DVD, not a performance DVD. Guitar techniques are often 'unmusical' but good practice to enable you to broaden your musical abilities.
@matteuklol Best explanation I've heard in a long time. So many people get so caught up in it... I mean.. you don't have to do it all the time in every song! but if the piece you you're writing needs a little bit of shred and "oh fuck, I just came on her face" then you need to be able to physically play what the song requires.
U know whats gay? labeling every single metal band out there today with some sort of stupid subgenre label "Oh those guys are metalcore, these other bands are deathcore" Like who cares???? Its all metal in the end.
i know what u mean, and i hate labeling but in the end its not all metal, maybe its all metal for those who call deicide&death rocknroll bands
but we the real fans are aware that there are some subgenres that we can't ignore.
now it has become hard to make a difference between a numetal band& hardcore or deathcore band but in the end if you are a real fan u can make a difference and at teh same time its annoying as hell to say: oh look this is a post prog deathcore! u see!
it's all metal in the end, but i would rather listen to metallica or pantera than say cannibal corpse. and there are definitely noticeable differences between the different styles of metal. don't blame it on the people for making sub-genres, blame it on artists who think its hardcore to do the same thing over and over, like growl all the time or always play in odd time signatures, or whatever.
but in this case it sounds awesome, just give it time, or you're just close minded
also even jazz players sometimes plays with a 7-string guitar
I got one and with appropriate settings it can play something else than metal
but i'd still say that you should take the time to listen to the melodies closely, even if they are fast they are there and not meaningless, you'll probably appreciate one day
well if you exclude all of the "core" genres then i like all types of metal. but i guess you cant exactly exlude those. but i like basically everything besides black metal, deathcore and metalcore. and nu-metal.
every good guitarist does, it's all about selecting one of the many scales and one of the modes at the right time
but something can change ; playing those in different beats and patterns
someone that plays without knowing their scales will sound really bad at one point or another, for him it'll just be a question of (a lot of) luck if it sounds good.
i mean, there are still some outstanding guitarists who mainly play fast but maintain a little of themselves, a little soul. that's why i like michael amott so much: he is no doubt a great metal guitarists with a very good tone, plus he doesn't overdo the shredding.
funny how the younger generation is hung up on speed and doesn't seem concerned with phrasing. With this form of music, timing and phrasing don't seem important. What a shame.
"funny how the younger generation is hung up on speed and doesn't seem concerned with phrasing. With this form of music, timing and phrasing don't seem important. What a shame."
And who told you that this guy represents the entire new generation?
See it positive! The guitar found the way back to the young people and when you can play fast, why should you limit yourself to play at 100 bpm ^^ (sry for my bad english!). BTW: its not so easy to make some "emotional" expressions while contentrating on play clean! greetz ^^
wowoweee.......great job..hey can you ask me a favor to have some concerts here in the Philippines bec.we need you as our inspiration....thank you and keep it up..ehehehe
lol it's all good. what I'm trying to say isn't off of insult or anything like that. But i'm saying that after all that shredding... you'll know the strength of someone's playing by the vibrato (many of the times. in this case, it was not a very strong vibrato display. No offense or anything like that to anyone or any guitarist I hope.
amp sounds horrible ^^

we need subgenres to seperate the shitty music from the metal.

im really confused here. whats the point of playing fast and having 7 strings if it sounds terrible. SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME

not everyone wants to "brood" over long drawn-out solos, some like to learn and "progress" hence the subject matter of the video.
it takes a lot of "heart" to stick to playing the guitar and get to a level that Zack Uidl is at.
modevotion1 2 years ago 2
yea man it makes me loose faith in music, especially metal. i love metal, but its definitely going in the wrong direction.
Tb0neZ5 2 years ago
music has always progressed, and it always will.
who is anyone to say what direction any genre of music is supposed to go?
modevotion1 2 years ago
well i guess i have no say in that, but i think its getting really gay, and so do allot of the old "true" metal fans.
Tb0neZ5 2 years ago
well no doubt the trends are stupid, but i do like a lot of the music.
and a true metal fan likes all types of metal, not just the older founding bands.
modevotion1 2 years ago

that's because most players of this nature play mostly scales and modes.
so of course it's going to sound similar.

I'd like to hear those things with less gain. Many people are using too much gain to "hide" the missed notes.
