  • I got one word to describe this. AWESOME! :D

  • I really liked The Shadow. I had a comic book that Batman ends up meets with The shadow Batman telling him you need to get out of retirement. I just hope The Shadow reboot movie hopefully hollywood do The Shadow Justice. They also should do The Shadow The animated series as well do it like TV- MA and get That guy who was voiced Batman in The animated series him self Kevin Conroy he has a great voice for it.

  • Awesome! It's great to see someone that really gets what the character is about. I wish they would make a really dark and atmospheric Shadow movie, but I'm not holding my breath. I think Alex Proyas (The Crow, Dark City) would make a good director, but the script would make or break it.

  • Sam Rami has the rights. Well all see how it goes

  • Fan of the Shadow. That was pretty darn cool. You actually made the laugh sound menacing and evil and creepy, not cheesy and lame like some people might do. Very nice effort.

  • First time I have ever posted on any video site!!! This was GREAT!!! The true essence of The Shadow. Hopefully the new movie will do The Shadow's legacy right.

  • @oasisraider thank you, but im doubtful hollywood will get it right.

  • wow that was pretty damn good I liked it and yea Hollywood better not fuck this up

  • "where are you?!" "everywhere" sounds pretty close to a line from Batman Begins...

  • @TYROSGEN that was intentional.

  • @blinky500 kinda lame lol not going to lie

  • @TYROSGEN meh. i dont care.

  • @blinky500 good stuff man, ppl who do what you do shouldn't i like your videos just voicing my opinion. Keep it up

  • @TYROSGEN thanks.

  • @TYROSGEN Something like that was in 1994 Shadow movie (to which Batman Begins is pretty similar).

  • @TYROSGEN Yeah, in the driving Farley Claymore mad scene was it "Where are you?!" "I'm right here! All around you! Everywhere around you!"

  • Excellent job, fellas. An amazing tribute film to literature's greatest crimefighter.

  • Nicely done! I'd love to see more of these.

  • i Got goose bumps when he laughed... so good.

  • loved it! whats the song titles throughout the film? they fit perfectly

  • @thegodofsex the first song is music from training day. the song for the shadow is from the omen remake.

  • have you thought about doing something with vampires, not that twilight gay shit, somewthing like the vampire chronicles

  • @RAVEN742241 no i havent.

  • Hahahahaha~! This is awesome.

  • very well done. You protrayed the Pulp Shadow rather than the radio shadow. No clouding of men minds. Instead we have the Shadow hidden in the darkness and coming out to grap the crooks unseen. The Actor playing the Shadow got the Voice and the laugh correct. Great work.

  • Good work with this fan film. I have only one complain. the Shadow was shown a little to early he should have first shown up when he grabs the thiefs. Besides that its a great film. Thx for making it and continue your great work. I apologize if my english wasn't so good. The Shadow knows.

  • Awesome!

  • Lol, The Shadow pulled a Batman. xD

  • this is fantastic.!

  • @Cobracatcommander thank you.

  • Amateurs? Really? You all have some real talent! Five stars!

  • i LOVE this. my dad has copies of the original comic in mint condition

i hope something with the shadow or other pulp characters is made

  • Have you done anything for the Phantom yet?? ahh! I've love to see Shadow/Phantom x-over

  • not yet. but i might somewhere down the line. we shall see.

  • Sam Raimi has a Shadow movie in development. I can't wait to see a movie doing this character justice finally. That aside, this was a very well done homage to this classic character. It saddens me that so many people don't know who The Shadow is. This video should be a reminder as to why he deserves our respect.

  • Statement: Very good, though unfortunately I haven't seen the movie yet.

    Mockery: "Where are you!?"

    Mockery: "Everywhere."

    Statement: So cool.

  • thank you i wanted to know hey would you do a hulk movie given the chance

  • if someone gave me the money, i would.

  • amazing i have never heard of the shadow but if you make more shadow films you'll read my comments.

p.s. that where are you and then everywhere, so awesome did batman begins rip that off the shadow or did you rip that off batman begins

  • i took it from batman.

  • Actually The Shadow was originally a comic book made in 1938 (his first appearance in a comic anyway) then turned in to a radio show in the late 40's. Then much like The Phantom picked up popularity again with release of the movie in 1994. In fact the symbol you see at the end of this fan movie is the same picture that was on the original VHS boxes. Anyway I just wanted to say awesome video keep up the good work man.

  • *totally fan girls out* that, was beutiful. You are gods amoung men. The Shadow! Oh my god!

  • who knows what evil lurks in the heart's of men the SHADOW knows! i seed of crime bear's bitter fruit Crime does not pay!

  • Also, it's even acknowledge in I believe some of the 70's Batman comics where he teams up with The Shadow, telling him how awesome he is. Basically the writers giving the Shadow his due.

  • The Shadow is not a 'ghost thing" he is a man who is Lamont Cranston, who in turn is Kent Allard and portrayed as a ghost-like figure when he is The Shadow. And yes, Bats is a rip-off of the Shadow. And yes, The CREATORS of batman openly admitted to copying The Shadow after Walter Gibson called them out on it. Batman's first comic is practically a plagarized version of the Shadow's Partners of Peril. Read That Sadow pulp then Bat's first issue. Even some dialogue is the same.

  • Legit scary. loved it.

  • this was hysterical, "the shadow ALWAYS knows".....that just had me rolling.

  • this was funny....

  • I love how the voice of The Shadows sounds just like Baldwin's voice from the film. Great work.

  • The Shadow and countless other superhero videos you put together to even make them look real. Any other superhero videos you have in mind. Who knows. You might influence this You Tube viewer who wants to put together a comic book theme for an independent short film himself.

  • i love those blue and green lights in that room

  • where are you??!

    everywhere

    cool line

    reminds me of batman begins

    where are you!?!?

    here

  • very cool

  • Awesome. I love The Shadow. I wish they would make another movie.

  • Awesome video man. The only thing I didn't care for too much was the lighting. It reminded me too much of those god awful Schumacher Batman films. Still love the video though!

  • The Shadow.

Perhaps the earliest "anti-hero" Good Guy.

    Supernatural? Evil? Insane?

He lurks in the darkness yet he serves the Light.

  • @tomken8dy It was because of The Shadow that guys like BatMan were made. He inspired those heroes or anti-hero.

  • @NightBeast12

They tap into the collective unconscious and have meanings

    we only know instinctively.

They're not human, they're forces of nature.

They're our deepest fears, they're our nightmares.

  • @tomken8dy Your very right by that. You're also right about the fears and nightmares.

  • Very Nice! kudos! hey, are you anywhere in the entertainment industry? i wanna see if it's possible to talk about a collabrative effort in a new comic or something.

  • awesome man

i listen to the shadow all the time

i love those old radio programs. im actually going to be making one based off an old radio broadcast shortly. check it out sometime.

  • you what else is cool? that I play the shadow who is a vampire.

  • you mean in a seperate film?

  • No I roleplayed in a vampire larp game once and I hope to do it again, but I haven't found a god roleplaying group to do so. Its funny

  • I wouldn't mind doing a flim on the shadow.

  • I remember seeing a comment a while back

on your Joker video about making your own

Scarecrow. Though I don't really see what point there would be in doing it, but if you did make your own Scarecrow I would definitely have Brandon Slagle play as him

Theres just something about his performance in this video that looks like the Scarecrows/Dr. Crane's performance in Batman Begins.

  • Wow - thank you very much :)

  • I don't like the idea of the Shadow in a modern day setting, without any powers. He's basically just Batman, then.

  • he has the power to cloud men's mind. did you see all that fog?

  • In the original pulps by Walter Gibson, the man who made the Shadow as we know him, he had no powers. He was just a man not unlike the punisher. He used deception, stealth, and solid detective work to defeat his enemies. And his Colt .45's! Wasn't till the 2nd radio show till he got his "power". Which cheapened him as a character. And you're right, he is basically batman, seeing as how batman is just a rip off of the Shadow!

  • Bob Kane even admitted to patterning Batman after the Shadow in the pulps. Everyone who knows Batman knows that the 1st issue of Batman was taken from the Shadow's "Partners of Peril". Would you be more affraid of a guy in a bat costume with a grappling hook, or a slouch-hat-wearing masked man with an itchy trigger fingers gripping .45 automatics? Batman has nothing on the Shadow. Never diss the Shadow! lol

    BTW. awesome flick

  • oh yeah, my comments were toward Nuclearman2.

I really enjoyed the movie though, blinky. Love to see more of these Shadow shorts. You should develop them like old episodic serials of the 30's and 40's. It would be awesome. Get him his hawk nose and some guns, though! good stuff.

  • I think you really captured the radio show, but not the pulps, which were way better.

I really liked it. The shot where the Shadow leaps out & swings @ the guy is classic - Love it.

The Shadow's my all time favorite hero, pulp or otherwise, and this is nitpicking, but I just have to say it: You didn't give him his big hawk nose! Shameful! Is that why you didn't show his face too much?

And to deny him the use of his Colt .45's is blasphemy! lol. But seriously it was great great.

  • we didnt have the makeup for a prop nose, so i had to hide it as best as possible. and we didnt have the guns either. so rather than do a crappy job, we just had him lay a smack down.

  • we didnt have the makeup for a prop nose, so i had to hide it as best as possible. and we didnt have the guns either. so rather than do a crappy job, we just had him lay a smack down.

  • i like what you did i think the shadow would be more intresting in a modern day era, but where did you find your actors? they're pretty good so it makes me wonder were they friends of yours or what?

  • i make friends with actors. so its a bit of both.

  • lol kool, i should make friends with artists then

  • i do.

  • any of em wanna draw very well written comic books? lol

  • if youre a comic artist, email me your stuff. love to see it.

  • lol im not the artist im the writer but if you still wanna see it i'll send u one of my many many stories i've written lol

  • Not bad I liked the story and the shadows voice was pretty cool. The biggest thing though to many shots of the actual character and it needs to be more in the actual time period of the shadow no cell phones. The rest was good.

  • well my goal was to set the film in a modern day world to possibly match the upcoming sam raimi shadow film. i dont know what his plans are, but i thought he might do the film in the now, rather than in the 1920's. plus when you dont have any era accurate props, you're forced to improvise.

  • I see you point and I do think you did captured the attitude of the old radio shows.

  • thanks.

  • Surely you mean 30's and 40's! Any Shadow fan would know that! lol.

  • yeah, my bad. it was a late night when i replied.

  • You need a boom. In the stairway, I could barely understand what the actors were saying because the echoes of their feet were so strong. Get a boom, and bam, you got it. Despite the fact, I loved it.

  • its hard to boom when you're the only crew member rounding a stairwell trying not to trip and fall, but fear not, i have a boom now.

  • Ah, well I'm sure you'll be able to find willing people to become part of your crew. I've watched a lot of your stuff and it's all very good. =]

  • thanks.

  • Hmmm....well, I have some minor problems with it. Obviously showing him in various parts throughout didn't help with suspense. And his voice was too....cartoony. And another problem is that, and yeah it's another Baldwin comparison, his laugh just wasn't sinister enough. This guy's laugh has to scare both the audience and the bad guy. But other than that, good solid effort. I just hope I didn't sound like a pompous jerk when I typed this, lol.

  • i didnt really mean to scare the audience with this. this was more action than suspense thriller. as for the voice, believe it or not, baldwin did a pretty good job. and if you heard a voice like that in your head you'd freak out too, cartoony or not. and you only got one real establishing shot of the shadow, the rest were quick clips.

  • Yeah. I wasn't meaning to sound like I didn't like Baldwin's interpretation. In fact, I loved it. But, I still enjoyed this one. It's good to see someone do a good version of the Shadow. In fact, I like a lot of the films you do.

  • thank you.

  • Yes perfect

  • Excellent!

I wish you could get funding and make this into a theatrical film, because I would go out and see it in a heartbeat as I am a big fan of The Shadow and read a lot of the books by "Maxwell Grant" when I was a teenager!

  • The Shadow is my favorite super hearo. I've always liked him. A friend of mine got me a casset tape of some of the old radio shows. They are awsome!

  • The seed of crime bears bitter fruit!

  • Very nice. The acting wasn't insanely fake like most of the fan-films on YouTube. I think it might have been even better if we only saw the Shadow's, well, shadow until he attacks them, though. Still great anyway!

  • Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men? The Shadow knows! HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA!

  • He's trying too hard to sound like Alec Baldwin.

  • pretty good. I like the shadow character. Alec Baldwin played him in the motion picture movie I think.

  • Best. Shadow. EVAR. :D :D :D

  • Baldwin sucke you rules

  • Awesome Shadow Fan Film! Awesome!

  • wow lol your kidding right lol the hollywood movie was the best alec baldwin was an excellent shadow

  • Quite awesome, better than the Hollywood version

  • Not bad. A little confusing near the end, but that's kind of the point, right?

  • yeah.

  • one thing I forget to ask... why didn't you upload the Advil Max on Youtube..? It's a really funny sketch video..!

  • i did upload it. check my home page, its there.

  • Yeah.. It's really there.. =S

I think I miss it on youtube subscribe but I could watch it on your myspace page early..

  • Hi Chris, I've to say that you getting better and better each movie you made, you have a impressive sense of rhythm and care about all details. Great work..!

And don't stop with the fanfilms..!

  • Never seen the original The Shadow thingy or whatever, but this was awesome! Nice and creepy.

BTW, is the scene where he's hanging upside down a reference to Batman Begins?

  • yeah. its my homage.

  • Better than the Alec Baldwin one.
