It's funny how music tastes changes. I've had this song in my music library for like 5 years and never really got through listening to it all the way, and now I love this song. Very simple, but very good.
Watashi wa broke up in July 2004, but in a deal with Tooth & Nail, singer/guitarist Seth Roberts' new band Eager Seas, who were signed to the same label, released their first album under the name Watashi Wa before leaving the label. The band made it clear that they were parting ways with the label peacefully, but also that the band would be changing their name after the release in order to separate themselves from the fiasco attached to the names of both Watashi Wa and Eager Seas.
Watashi Wa is Japanese and roughly translated means, depending on the context, "I", "myself", or, "As for me". Fans have speculated that this is a reference to the Biblical "I am", a phrase used throughout the Old and New Testament of the Bible by God and Jesus. It may also be a reference to Joshua 24:15 "As for me and my household, we will serve the LORD".
So why did they name themselves "I" in Japanese? Like why not some other language? Do they have some link Japan somehow? I've been trying to find this out with no luck....help?
i'm pretty sure the guy playing guitar in this video was never even in the band.. Lane (drummer) Roger (bass) also played in a band called Briertone (still active band but Lane and Rog are no longer with them) and Seth's current project is called Lakes and they are with the Militia Group.
Probably has some sort of religious theme to it. The band is very Christian, especially both Seth and Luke(the guitarists). I think it also fits in with the whole "Love of Life" theme they had with the CD.
The video is also on the Watashi Wa "Eager Seas" disc! I tried to put it up here, but it was too big, and I didn't have anything to shrink the size of the video.
hm...pretty catchy :D

Watashi Wa means...
Well, for example, if I were to say Watashi Wa Zerojett desu, I am zerojett. So, it is like saying I am.
