I believe this is a youth orchestra - not a professional one, so I think they did pretty good on this piece considering that they are young musicians.
@BabylonLynx their not professionals, their a YOUTH orchestra so stop being so negative and give them some credit because this is actually a really good piece of the song so enjoy it or move to another video :)
writerification, youre right, this peice was played for the dressing ceremony for Sofia Coppolas Marie Antoinette! couldnt place it, almost thought it was from Casanova with Heath Ledger...good ears.
im 14, our 8th Grade school orchestra could probably sight read the first movement with about a mounth of work on it. Im 2nd chair cello, and there are 2 cellos in the 8th grade orchestra, we play this at about 92 to 100 tempo i think
Oh for crying out loud, I left out one "p". It's easier to pick out negatives than see positives. But like I said, it's human nature. That's all I'm trying to say.
By the way, if you want to get technical, you might want to start capitalizing words!
You Americans are such perfectionists! I thought there was plenty to admire in this performance - plenty of pluck and energy even without the daft speed you all seem to be recalling from the Marie Antoinette film. There is a collective emotion, which a great many performers don't seem to place any importance on in baroque music. Precision is not the most important feature!
@StrewthMcGinty1 the only "collective emotion" this group of musical misfits was able to "emote" was an agonizing 5+ minutes of ear bleeding noise. under achievers is the antonym of perfectionists. and that, as they say, is that.
We played it with our orchestra and we weren't false at all...we are from 12 to 20 years old. And the next time I would hear more interaction between each other. The tempi are Good =)
this is so beautiful, i cant tell you how much i love this song

This is YOUTH orchestra - NOT a professional orchestra. I thought they did pretty good on this piece seeing that they are young musicians.

I liekd this music better in Marie Antionette. It was more lively and didn't sound so depressing.

this is by far the worst professional orchestra, if they are so, i have ever heard!!!
the maestro is not holding them together at all... no synergy, everyone is playing on his own!!!!
1:42 is a disaster, a crime against fine music...

oh dear. this group needs LOTS of work. i actually grimaced when i saw/heard this. isn't it a shame ??
DaperDan8 3 years ago 5
Actually, it's a shame that YOU can only see the negatives about this orchestra.
Human nature, I supose? So sad.
TennisChamp59 2 years ago
i "supose" (sic) you need to see the negatives of misspelling words and the negatives of orchestras that play things very poorly. so sad, indeed.

if you want to get educated in the arts and capitalization, etc., study e.e. cummings. about this music he may have composed this:
never so poor has a piece been played-
to enjoy such noise one must be depraved-
it smells and stinks like a rotten rose-
i supose (sic)

I'm sorry that you're a jerk. Good thing stupidity isn't contagious!

I like it at all, but why are the kids playing for the salvation of an army worhsip center?
Music should be played at peaceful places.
And I have to agree there some instruments are not tuned very well. This might be a critic to the choirmaster. The youngstars do a great job.
Porterchrille 3 years ago
"Music should be played at peaceful times"?!
Try telling that to the ensemble that performed while the Titanic was sinking!
Music is played at all sorts of times and sometimes, at unpeaceful times to calm the atmosphere.
TennisChamp59 2 years ago
to TennisChamp 59,
please read correct, I have talked about "places" not about "times".
You cannot campare the Titanic with an Army worship center, where youngstars are playing.
Yes, music played all the times, but not at every places.
