I've got one of these. You do not require the PLA-400 (or two of them as mentioned here) to use it. These are just for if you want to stream data over the mains system in the building. If you don't want to use HomePlug stuff, you can simply use the external PSU that comes in the box with the DMA-1000 and connect the media streamer directly to your router/other network device with a regular RJ45 patch cable. The review makes it sound like the PLA-400 is required to stream data to the DMA-1000.
firstly, for a "video review" there was no review to it. please change the title to "set-up and overview" as this is completely misleading. secondly, for a review about the DMA-1000 at least a third is dedicated to a separate product. muddled and confused this has given me no clearer understanding of whether i want to buy this product or not. what WOULD have been nice, was a view of the product, an explanation of the portsinput/outputs on its back, strengths, limitations and impressions.
Going to complain.SORRY! As much as its nice bit of tech. Its rubbish. I find all MENU driven software boring and difficult to use.far better is a network computer and mouse.lets,Say I watching the blue planet I have google earth running next wikipedia all from a wireless mouse is brill. this menu driven stuff is not the way
slow and dull. why can,t they build what people what. a wireless media remote with optical mouse and a view of a computer desk top instead of menu's
cracking video but it looked like the film clip's laged a bit and all so some sound lag How bad was this as im looking to maybe buy this if not im going apple tv
nice i have subbed, i love hard line and using the technology to send signals across the powerlines is great as it saves me using an ethernet cable across the house. Just one question what is the website tried searching thanks very much anyways
For surround sound yes the device supports it but the sounds is outputted through your tv.
For best results and playback its vital you understand the concept and features. Many users from basic users to technie love the idea and it works great if you know what your doing. So understand what your using and how it works as then its a great tool and beats going to teh cinema to watch movies. ;-)
hello Andy. Points to consider. The PLA homeplug will connect together if using latest firmware. The DMA 1000 series need latest firmware for usb playback. To ugrade check support as its unstable. Video playback does not support divx 5 and above. Alot of videos dont work so you need to change the avi header or the 4cc header. You can not add user files to display on the video, music, photo folder. The device does not support 1080p. To connect to NSA DLNA supportive you need a switch or a hub.
I got mine in PCWorld a few years ago for a whopping £30.00.
