  • great video. really nice. :D

  • At 1:59 you should pour an allocated amount into a separate beaker to avoid contaminating your whole stock.

  • May I please use this video for a project if I source it?

  • @Glayedyre I'm sorry if my reply is too late to be helpful, but yes, you can use the video.

  • Very good video, Interesting method to deliver a lot of information.

  • Excellent and concise video from begining to end but poor audio rendition by the lady. Could be said she was talking to herself and not an international audience

  • At 1:49 what is the device called that is being used to "suck up" the liquid to be put into the tube?

  • @dakoata121212

    A transfer pipette (or pipet)

  • question... how do you know wich primers to use? you use the 13 CODIS markers?

I need to know wich dna codes are the ones where you can see if someone is a male or female, what her hair/eye color is and the bloodgroup.

Where do you think I can find that stuf?/what do i have to search for?

this vid was btw pretty good xD 5 stars ^^

  • @lilgogeta Primers are specific to the PCR kit you are using. The locus which codes for sex is called the amelogenin gene. I'm not sure if this is the case in the US, but amelogenin is usually the only gene on DNA profiles which expresses a genotype (sex). All other areas targeted by the PCR primers are non-coding regions of DNA. This means that they do not code for any identifiable genotype such as hair colour or eye colour. This is advantageous because it keeps the analysis objective.

  • We use a standard kit (profiler plus) from ABI, so yes, the 13 CODIS markers. Male or female is determined through the 'Amel' primers. (X for female, X and Y for male). The biometrics you mention are not related to the STR primers that are analyzed through the profiler plus primers. There are some good review articles by John Butler, one of the co-inventors of the technique (try googling DNA profiling and John Butler and review).
