Top tune...work all week as a teen, spend wages on clothes, 12" singles. Clubbing in London, Purple pussy cat, Les Elites, late night buses and donor kebabs. Girls in Lycra and asking the boss for a sub on the Monday morning :) Still have this 12" in pink. Respect to all you OLD Discoheads :)
I still have the 12" single of this one - used to play it quite a bit at all kinds of events when doing a Mobile DJ gig back in the day. The back side of the single, as I recall has the song Happy Radio on it - another good one. Starr also did a 60's Motown era classic "Agent OO Soul".
The dude rocked! RIP Mr. Starr and thanks for leaving the great tunes behind for all to enjoy.
well i tell ya those were the days a friend and i had a dance sequence to this which we did regularly at the SUNDOWN club charing cross rd london that was the club with the redhead go go girl anybody remember her...i do our dancing used to cause a stir or two. still move whe i hear it though greatest disco record EVER made.
Contact! I was lookin' at you! You were looking at me!! CONTACT ! This was Jack Tatum's Theme song back in the day..... Yep, if you could see Tatum's eyes, you were gonna get smoked, CONTACT... he's hit you and go through you muttering "CONTACT" you and me... CONTACT...I sure did not wanna see those eyes...
oh my this song is timeless ..now im only 39 and i heard this in clubs and retro night but it dont matter when it came out cause this make you sweat it on the dance floor if you know how to work it like that ..this ,mix with Shame and GETT OFF by foxxy ..oh i make a dance floor burn baby
I remember the Golden days when this music was the shit! We moved from disco to disco, form party to party out in a Stockholm in summer decoration; at BZ they rolled off the roof and we danced under the stars… at Chic there was only BB@Q Band and tremendous ”On the Beat”. And i Ella Gård, on the boom box, nothing less than ”we made eye to eye - CONTACT"...
i'm a 57 year old marine 3 star general and i can't lie i loved disco, this , the tramps, sylvester, and all i read his hater homophobe coments . please girls it's 2011 lets give up the hater stuff ok fucking morons
My mate and I were Northern Soul freaks back in the day and when this came on at our local (Rochdale) night clubs we could literally clear a dance floor... and man was it good for the ladies... LOL...
Brian Brainstorm where are you now buddy... Craig.. remember bustin a gut to this mate???
I was 19 handsom straight off the 747 that brought me here from UK and the girls used hang around me like flys to shit and I would dance my ass off at the jocky club.
Ohh all his music my granddies and I have disco nights and we dance together to it! They wear their silky scarves and we dance! the youngest is 2 and a half, and she always says"Pway PPY and eye to Eye Nannie!" His music passes from generation to generation! Edwin Starr is uplifting and his music is joy! No one has a voice like his! so, let's dance!
Believe or not this was one of my earliest memories of music at the nursery school. In 1979 one of the nursery nurses, the youngest one there I think she was in her early 20's, brought her tape recorder placed her cassette inside then pressed play and this was the first song. I was including some people was dancing, it was during break time. How far I can remember I was only 4 years old!.
@TheStefanie1988 Just wanted to say "Hi" !! I hung out at Arabian Nights too !! Plus, Roller Skated next door ;o) Those were the good 'ol Days !! The reason I found you here was 'cause I was trying to see / searching to see if there was a Group on Facebook for people that hung out at Arabian Nights !!?? lol Take Care, Maureen
i like that sound at 1:09, its like an organ or synth and at 1:24 the timbales are hot, back then most of all dance music had to have that timbales(drums) playing...

I've got this one on 12" vinyl in my collection - I was a DJ from 1978-1989 and fortunately kept my vinyl. It rocks!
Graduated from HS in 1972, so I was in the prime of the Disco era.
For those that missed it, about all I can compare it to was the roaring 20's.
It was awesome! I hit a lot of clubs in California - Marine Del Rey, Palm Springs, all over LA, Sacramento, Stockton, Monterey and the central valley.
A unique blend of soul, funk and disco - it stands times test to this day
