In fact, we didn't give a flying fuck about the South East Asians since of the times they were colonized. My grandpa served in the Imperial Japanese Army 7th division in Asahikawa Base in Hokkaido (the northernest main island of Japan) so I know the almost whole of the mission and so on.

The British Submarine "Tradewind" torpedo'd the ship because the stubborn Japs did not obey the Geneva convention and place a medical flag on top of the ship - in order to show enemy that their own was aboard as a POW. Thus, 5,600 Dutch ,American,British, Australian parished in the Ocean. This is the worst maritime disaster and another trie story !

I know one survivor of this incident, but he and others were saved after 8 days out in the Indian Ocean. Anyway: British war crimes are also well-documented. please note, that in 1944, the Red Cross ship Tübingen was sunk by the British RAF, and Soviet submarines torpedoed the Wilhelm Gustloff in March 1945. Numerous war crimes against enemy and even neutral ships by the Allies are documented too. Although I agree, that the Japanese might not have mourned about the dead POWs....

The IJM provided free education and encouraged the natives to take parts of the domestic industries such as agriculture, health-care, fishery, shipbuilding, etc. This resulted the increase of the number of the intellectuals. In addition, the IJM provided the opportunity for the unification of the Indonesians; providing military training, and the unified language.

About Dutch, I think if your government is doing right now the right thing with their colonies, for me it is wonderful.
