ummm one like quick comment he is a child why you be putting him some contacts glasses peaple that can hurt him lets say one day you forget to take them of for some reason and then he goes to bed what you think is going to happen think parents think and i thaght i was stupid
Hi there, this brings back alot of memories for me, I was Jamie back in '77. 6 months old I was wearing soft contacts. I was born with cataracts & had my lenses removed too. I have never been fond of implants, just thankful for the sight I have today. School may be a little tricky, I went to a regular school, needed to sit at the front & even had to ask the teacher to write a little bigger on the blackboard. With Jamie at school ask for SOME special needs help like bigger print. He'll be alright
Yea. I was gonna say, must be a medical thing, for this to be allowed. He understands what they are for, rather than what they are. No harm being done, that I can see. Happy, healthy baby. Healthier with these lenses, looks like.
Wtf your have to be at least 12 to wear contacts with your parents permission you cant just give your baby contacts, man he can get a eye infection, and make his vision worse!!!!!! whats wrong with you people get him some damn glasses!!!1 trying to make you baby blind.
(this is the third of three parts of my reaction, which was a bit too long to fit in one comment, sorry). Our son is one year old now and still getting rid of the lag he got from being blind for some time, but we hope that he and your Jamie will both grow up happy, healthy, and unencumbered by their medical condition! Thanks once again!
and proposed to try and see if we could remove the contacts ourselves each night. The specialist was surprised but luckily supported us fully. Within two weeks we got them in and out without any crying. We're so happy that we can make this into a routine before he starts to have negative associations and that we can spare him years and years of antibiotics. And we're so much more relaxed when going on outings because we know that if he happens to lose a lens we can put it right back in.
Thank you so much for sharing this! Our son had the same operations at the same age. Where we live it is customary to let kids wear their contacts 24/7 until they are about 5. To prevent infections they get antibiotic eye drops. This means we had no experience the first time a lens fell out. Watching your and another video gave us the courage to try and replace the lens ourselves. Then when we saw how quickly he got used to the eye drops we thought back at the video... (continued in next post)
Rather amazed at what contacts can do nowadays. I can only imagine the "fun" that might've occurred learning to put in such small contacts in an infant. I had months of frustration with my own RGPs when I got them around 10 or 11 YO. How long did it take you to get the process down?
Ignore aylin410 because she clearly cannot read...or type..or really do anything intelligent :P God bless you and the baby <3 I can't imagine putting contacts on an infant! Does he not fuss? :) He is so cute! Adorable!! I love how he doesn't mind that you are putting it in his eye- it's like you don't even touch him! He doesn't care. He must be used to it Hehe <3 God bless you all, i think that the fact that you would do this for your child is amazing. Good luck for in the future <333
i read the description, but it still makes no sense to me, touches his eyes, or dozes off with them in it can cause permanent damage to the eyes, exspecially if he is still an infant. I find this very disturbing...
@TheMopardude Well don't because it's safe and effective and it's worth it for the little guy to be able to see. There are contacts that can be slept in, the mother probably took it out to clean them.
@Minndeeh Hi Minndeeh, I remember you - hope your daughter is doing well. Jamie is coping well with contacts so we are waiting until his eye is fully grown (at 8 yrs old?) before considering implants. As I understand it, once the implant is in place the focal distance and power of the lens is fixed permanently - so using contacts offers the most flexibility as we can alter the prescription of these to suit his needs as his eye grows.

@aushza Hi - how old is your daughter? I will try and post a video of taking Jamie's lenses out if you would find it useful. Our lenses are made by Cantor & Nissel in the UK, they are hydrophilic 33% polymer, 67% water. I don't know what RGP's are, sorry! 8 wks old must have been tough to start putting lenses in, so tiny!

I don't suppose you read up about Jamie's operation before you decided to post such a comment? I'll spell it out for you... BILATERAL CATARACTS means that without these lenses he would not be able to see at all. Jamie had the lenses of both eyes removed during his operation. Glasses are not an option due to the power and thickness of the lens needed. If your baby was in the same situation, how would you weigh up the choice between learning to insert lenses and your baby being blind?!

@nateandsuzi you arent bad parents at all. I have seen your videos and I think your great parents! Don't listen to other people who are being nasty because they are just mad because they never had as great parents as you ! Just a guess

@cindyz - I don't suppose you read up about Jamie's operation before you decided to post such a comment? I'll spell it out for you... BILATERAL CATARACTS means that without these lenses he would not be able to see at all. Jamie had the lenses of both eyes removed during his operation. Glasses are not an option due to the power and thickness of the lens needed. If your baby was in the same situation, how would you weigh up the choice between learning to insert lenses and your baby being blind?!
