The setting & costumes in this movie are outstanding however, the consciousness of this movies is highly disturbing in modern upbringing perceptive. I find Victorian or similar epoke horrible. The tight Christian moral rectitude - this is a time where men were untouchable slave masters, children were beaten, schools were prisons, women had no voice & did as they're told. I hated watching poor little David being beaten by his demonic stepfather yet his stupid mother had no voice. Immoral.
@WildwoodClaire1 Although this is a Hallmark production it is only available in PAL for some reason. Filmed in Ireland it showed on TV here in the US in 2000 or 2001.
Gran novela, GRAN ESCRITOR, Gran Película, Música Preciosa, y... ¿Qué se puede decir del paisaje que la acompaña?... NATURALEZA PURA Y EXQUISITA. Erik.
I doubt if Charles Dickens ever visited Powerscourt but even if he did, it has no place in Copperfield. The authentic settings are the environs of Great Yarmouth, Canterbury & Dover. Read the book!
SHIT, i read the book when i was about 9 and fuck it made me cry more than anything else. i've always wondered if there was a movie based on the book and today i found it! thanks a bunch for uploading it mate
@quelzinhapqna Hi yes! and of course she was MISS Haversham. The series maybe something like from The Singing Ringing Tree set of European short series of imaginative folk/fairy tales. As was suggested by someone. It maybe now a long lost episode. Another suggestion was the Hitchcock TV series from the 60s...however I cannot find anything via Youtube that fits the storyline. Thanks any suggestions very welcome!
I think that the book of 'David Copperfield' is one of the best classics to be written. However, it's quite a bit hard to filmize such a story to reflect scenerios good enough as they are in the book, itself. Even though it would be very different fun to watch the film of if, yet i prefer to read.

I'm 16 years old and today I just finished David Copperfield, it took me around two months to complete, and it's the most breath-taking and inspirational page-turner I've ever read.
@HeartComedyDoll Hey man I just started reading it yesterday, did you find it a bit hard to read at all? Beacause so far I have had a little trouble but I plan to crack on amyway.
Yes I did of course! It requires so much patience, and importantly perserverance! You really have to engross yourself at the beginning, its a challenge but it's totally rewarding. I'm not at all super intelligent, so if I could do it anyone can!
@HeartComedyDoll Hi there. Its been a month of patient reading and by tomorrow I will have finished reading it. It was a good book although ti be honest I preferred great expectations. However I found it so moving when Dora and Jip died, I really found it so moving, thanks for your earlier comment too!
Thats great! It's so satisfying finishing it, yeah I loved Great Expectations too though I found it almost unbearably tragic. I read the two of them within quick succession of one another and their similarities means I have their storylines blurred together in my memory. One of my favorite perceptions I gained from the novel was the naivety of youth, at times I found it frustrating especially the episodes with Dora where their incompatibility became most prevelant.
I've just started the book, It's interesting how this was Dicken's most personal work since it had so many autobiographical elements of his own life.
"Of all my books, I like this one the best. It will be easily believed that I am a fond parent to every child of my fancy, and that no one can ever love that family as dearly as I love them. But, like many fond parents, I have in my heart of hearts a favorite child. And his name is DAVID COPPERFIELD"
OMG! seriously? I can't belive how people became so ignorant of the wonderful period drama Classics, this is David Copperfield, the most famous story written by Charles Dickens in the 19th century :P
I love the story of David Copperfield, This an incredible production. For me, though I prefer the David Lean version. I feel that these more modern dramitisations are too clinically clean. The atmosphere of dirt , decay and poverty can only be brought about by the old black and white versions of decades before. It is the same with all new drama's portraying the early Victorian era. It is just too 'Clean and Tidy'. I had not seen this before so thanks.
I love this Novel, even more than Oliver Twist....we take it at school so I'm excited to watch this wonderful story of this poor boy, I like the way Charles Dickens write his novels in, he captured the life of most of the People in England at that time.

Looking for the name of a TV programme or possibly a film where a wedding dress features.
I have tried to find out what this scene was for over 30 years. A wedding dress in a tall glass case in a corner of a Victorian
old ladies room, she is sitting on a sofa and warns a young girl who is admiring the wedding dress, not to open the case .
But the girl does behind the old lady, and when the air gets inside the dress falls to pieces..
It is NOT Mrs Haversham in David Copperfied
