  • I went there last week, check out my video

  • sad sad place now, check out my video I shot last week.....

  • I went there last week. It was wonderful to behold the rock as seen in the film and the suspicion of caves......obviously interior was a studio set - I looked up at the skyline for the Billabeck Hall but found that miles away in Tintagel.

  • i loved it when they had the outdoor swimming pool and the outdoor changeing huts those were the days

  • Oooh, I loved that pool when I was a kid. I still remember the first time I plucked up the courage to jump off the high diving board (That actually was not that high lol)

And the mini train ride. As a young teen not knowing where to put my face when riding in a carriage with my Grandmother it stopped right next to the naturist beach and a middle aged man wearing a hat, a smile, and nothing else wished us a good afternoon.

  • The Ship wasn't lost in a storm in the 80s I grew up in St Austell. I remember playing on it. It had to be removed because the wood was rotting and it became too dangerous for kids to play on. It was removed in the early 90s

  • WOW! IT'S CHEZ! I knew it was you, from your voice! It's a-me! Dave! RANDOM!

  • Hellooo

  • How about popping along to Camelot Castle Hotel in Tintagel, which was used as the location for the asylum, the cemetery... and provided accommodation for the cast and crew?

  • That is the next location on the list for me to visit :-)

  • I grew up in St Austell and my brother and I used to play on that shipwreck. Awesome stuff. I loved Carlyon Bay in the 80s it was fantastic.

  • Cool. I spent most of my summers as a kid in the 80's on that beach. It makes me a little sad to see the state of it now.

  • I can tell u something about the shipwreck, she was a trawler called TAWE. I helped strip & prepare her in Charlestown b4 we towed her round to Carlyon Bay & run her onto the rocks. I was on board at the time she hit the rocks. We then winched her up the beach & blew holes in her side using explosives.

  • Wow, great stuff! It is fascinating to find out what went on behind the scenes with the making of this film.

  • No probs. I was lucky enough to work there for 3 seasons in the mid 80's as a lifeguard and I have to say that it was a great experience. I remember the A-Ha gig well as I helped unload the lorries with all their equiptment (It paid well), got to see the sound check and watched the actual gig from the side of the stage! Take care.

  • look for 'is this love' by Alison Moyet' on youtube and you'll see the wreck

  • wow thats carlyon bay, i live like 5 minutes up the road from there

  • Thank you for posting this!!! I'm a huge fan of Dracula '79! Keep the videos coming! :)

  • its good it see how locations look now...

  • The ship was burnt about 5 years ago due to hazzard to children

  • It was much longer than 5 years ago as I took a camping holiday down at St Austel in about '95 and it was gone then.

  • It was removed in the early 90s

  • my father was in the coast guard and watched the wreck distroyed in a storm after a large spring tide. It was ripped in half and half ended up down the other side of the car park. I reckon it was more like twelve yer ago.

  • Looks peaceful...would you consider putting up videos of the other locations you visit? I don't travel much, but I appreciate good scenery, and almost anything to do with Dracula 1979.

  • Sure. I plan to visit all the locations in the next few months or so, and will post videos of them here.
