Unfortunately that's exactly the America quite a few of its citizens wish to live in. And it isn't only right wing fundamentalists either. The Republicans and quite a few Democrats, not to mention the Tea Party, would all like to live in a Disney version of reality with no Blacks, Hispanics, Jews, etc, where everything is sanitised and the actions of the US government are never brought into question.
I can't understand why the police would want to break up a public disturbance in a busy transportation hub. What could possibly be wrong with that? I like yelling "GUN!" at public events, and the pigs prevent me from expressing my first amendment right. Fucking fascist cops.
@Hereticbooks Canada probably wouldn't be to shabby ,I don't know that I would like all the cold weather, when you get my age the cold just makes those age related aches & pains that much worse..
Why are they just standing there and watching and yelling? Do something. They police want to attack, attack them right back. There is a time for diplomacy and a time for action, diplomacy is dead.
@sobored671 Sad part they already won, you chose peace, you get crush, chose tougher means' you are labeled a enemy of the state and everyone you ever meet are accomplice .The Koch bothers the profits' of the free market, I tip my hat you did what other religion was trying to do for the last odd number of centuries, you did your life time !!!
@sobored671 The pages of history is written blood. This is being of the fallout of these United State of America . Each state would call to be they own country. America will become the new Africa !!!
@parsonman05 Yeah, it's like 40 years too late. Missed the boat on that. People think this country is all of the sudden going down the toliet or something like that, like it's worse than it's ever been. Was it better during the Vietnam war or when we put Japanese people in jail for no reason during WW2? I'm just sayin.. We've been like this for a long time, if people look to this country as some guiding light or shining city on the hill or some bullshit, that's really dumb.
The "America I want to live in" doesn't exist. Maybe it never did, but it was a LOT closer to being a reality 30 years ago and has rapidly gone downhill in the past 10 years.
OK, there's my political statement for the New Year. Now I have to get back to being mesmerized by television commercials.
@AncientAtheist It is sad days all over the world actualy.. Hungary has a new constitution that has censorship buolt into it.. cooporate fascism is on the rise everywhere.. and it is getting worse.
@Vogter616 So do you think this is something new? This is the same old shit That's been happening for a long time. It sucks, freedom is an illusion, we were never free in the first place. Was this different in the 1960's? I don't think so.. I don't like this, but when was it ever better? Why is this suprising? That's what baffles me.
@DarkFantasyvids well it doesnt surprise me at all.. Ive seen it all through the last 4 decades and Ive written blogs, debated this for the last almost 20 years on the net and people say Im nuts for saying we dont have real freedom.
Grand Central & Port Authority are heavily watch & patrolled. I'm not sure about GC but PA has an area across the street on 9th avenue where homeless are allowed to congregate.
A while back they started what is effectively a "no loitering, no homeless policy". You have to be able to prove you have business related to being in the PA to be allowed to be in the PA.
Considering the state of the PA, Penn Station, Grand Central this seemed like a good plan (cont)
@TheTruePooka cont -We had homeless sleeping in rows in corridors a block long (in part because the shelter system had been downsized).
The PA officers were pretty decent about it. On really bad weather days they'd look the other way and let them take shelter.
But since 9/11 the PA - let's just say I've gotten used to seeing armed soldiers with machine guns, something that was very frightening to see at first.
It isn't hard to get used to fascism when it becomes part of your daily routine.
@TheTruePooka In Hungary they now fine homeless people for loitering on the streets. If they cant pay they are arrested and out into jail! And their new constitution has censorship biult in. It is no longer allowed to critisize government by the press.
You have to admit, that little lady they arrested looks really intimidating! I'm sure she's a threat to society. THANK YOU VERY MUCH OCCUPY PROTESTORS FOR YOUR BRAVERY IN THE FACE OF THE GOON SQUAD.
USA and North Korea. Its getting hard to tell the difference these days. Both nations lack good education, employment opportunities, they both shut people up who speak against the government, and they both have masses of brainwashed sheep. Anyone who is not brainwashed, is dealt with accordingly.
@Vogter616 Was it better during the Vietnam war or when we put Japanese people in jail for no reason during WW2? I'm just sayin.. @DarkFantasyvids unfortunately a lot of right wing politcians (even some not so rigth wing ones) in EU look to USA for inspiration and they love it all.

I thought the NDAA only gives the military powers to detain US citizen? Not cops.......
MrSoprano0125 1 month ago
I suggest people actually find out more about what the NDAA is and isn't before reaching the most overly dramatic conclusion possible.
