Poor mans dead and people stir shit,I just remember this guys as excellent actors and actresses who made me laugh as a kid and those memories are invaluable to me.
I think this is lovely - I love Sid. Thank you very much for the song - it reminds me of the time my grandparents were alive and things just seemed simpler. Am I getting older? Yes. Do I care? No f**cking way - not with lovely songs like this.
@SilverWitness so true, lovely song, just right with sid singing, nice guy and sadly missed by people like me who at 40 was growing up watching him in the carry on films, precious memories.
@DSilius Sid was due to be in Sceaming but had a heart attack so the part was given to Harry H Corbett, In Doctor ,the next film , Sid was still recovering thats why he spends most of the film in bed.
Sid James did NOT beat his wife... why do people drag up this utter crap after these people have died? Sid was a wonderfully funny character... he made us all laugh when he was alive; we still laugh at his films... he was a funny man...he deserves respect..... now leave him alone and stop trying to blacken his name.
Well, he did have his faults. He was certainly unfaithful, (he pursued Barbara Windsor for years) and he definitely had a horse racing betting problem, but I don't think he was ever a wife beater.
I always felt it wasn't a proper 'Carry On ' when Sid played the villain. I remember a disappointing later 'Doctor' one where he was the criminal doing the scheming (although the seventies ones were almost all poor, really), but most of all, it was the 60's 'Carry on Cowboy' which never ever appealed to me because it just seemed wrong that he played the baddie. I simply never saw Sid that way or believed in him as that sort of character, however much he later said he enjoyed playing the part.
Peter Rogers said that the Carry On name was the star but I always thought that if a Carry On Film didn't have Sid or Kenny then it didn't feel like a proper Carry On.
I still love watching carry on films, even though ive seen them hundreds of times they still make me laugh (i love silly, slapstick humour), and Sid James voice LOL just a gem LOL
form a bleeding great queue on the landing, you can imagine sid shouting hurry up i need a pee.........! lovely guy and sadly missed.
