@TheHortond I go to Costco and I pay about $50-$80 for a PISMO, and it looks just like what he showed it to be when he went to the megamart. Just one lasts me two weeks or so.
Just got 2 kg of tender loin for 1.299/kg HAHAHA I think they messed up the decimal place when calculating and didn't even notice. Now to cook em good and proper.
Thank you for having this video on line! I watched it when it was originally on and never got around to buying a whole tenderloin until today and Food Network doesn't have the episode online anymore. Alton's instructions on trimming make it look SO easy!
damn. AB is really the man, i use his recipes all the time. very pleased everytime. perfect filet recipes in here, he really inspires me to get off the computer and into the kitchen!
I made this steak for a co-worker at a summer camp, who had eaten almost nothing but pasta and processed food all summer. I had no cognac, so I substituded whiskey. He cried when he ate it. Said it was the best food he'd ever eaten.
Yeah, I made it for my Parents and They loved it, so I'm going to make it again for a father's Day party. I'm gonna buy a whole Tenderloin from Costco like Alton did and Cut it myself, which I didn't do the first time I made it.
I like the model cow with the meat you can take apart. I saw how they made it when I watched the "Behind the Eats" episode. That episode also showed how they filmed the airplane bit at the start of the show. LikeTheHat has the episode on his channel, if anyone wants to watch it.
This is actually Season 9 episode 18, just FYI.

Ummm...Alton...you MIGHT want to use BEEF CATTLE to show where the BEEF comes from instead of a phreakin' DAIRY COW!

Does he ever do an episode for the first little scrap he took off? The one that is a chef's treat and a scooby Snack?

There must have been something wrong at the sams club I went to the beef tenderloin was a $100. I grabbed pork instead for $21.

@TheHortond Are you sure you grabbed a PISMO, and not a butchered piece? The price difference is GINORMOUS!
playful1510 1 year ago
@playful1510 It looked like a whole PISMO but next time I'm in there I will ask for a PISMO by name.

You know, I almost like brasher stronger substances for dishes like this, they have more... flavor. More strength to them.
