  • I wish I could "like" this again at every key change. :)

  • WHAT AMAZING VOICES!!

  • I'm not relgious, but this is such an amazing song! XD

  • chills at 1:00

  • I love that everyone is this interested in Disney's VOL. To answer someone's question. Mr. Johnson originally arranged "Battle Hymn of the Republic" to end in the key of D-flat. (It changes key with each verse.) However, the VOL commonly sing certain songs a half step higher than written. In this recording, they end in the key of D-major. The first soprano (the lovely Jackie) ends on a high D. If you like this recording - SEE THEM LIVE!!!

  • Those last notes are AWESOME together!!!!

  • Can anyone with perfect pitch or who is nearby a piano check to see what the ending note is for the soprano 1? No matter how many times I listen to this I still get chills because of that ending.

  • The original accapella was written by Derric Johnson for Disney. A friend of mine was friends with him and got the leasing rights to the music and I actually had copies of the sheet music written by hand by Mr. Johnson himself at one time. If I remember correctly the end of this was G or G# with the corresponding E or E# at 1/3 below. But I think the music was changed from the original.I studied most of Johnson's music;this is different than I remember. They may change keys for is now singing it.

  • @malty16 It's a high D.

  • @malty16 D above high C! Freakin amazing how they can hit those notes PERFECTLY!!!

  • I don't really think it much matters what part they sing, but I think we can all just simply agree that, whoever sings whatever part they sing, they have been blessed with amazing voices and talents and are just awesome singers, and very cohesive as a group! :-) I love to hear them and to sing with them for Candlelight!

  • I absolutely LOVE it when she directs!!

  • stupendous.

  • bimmerboy87 has his facts straight. They are both incredible singers and do flip flop.

  • I did not question his facts. The argument was that it was tiffany singing the final note on this video which she doesn't. My post does not say anything about jackie and tiffany flip flopping, i know this, i was merely stating that Jackies final note has much more precision than Tif's does. That ok!

  • My high school chorus and band go to disney every 4 years to perform and take a singing clinic and they were the one's that ran our clinic...they were amazing and unbelievable teachers and people

  • This is a pretty solid VoL group! YEAH Kevin!!!

  • The South will rise again !! I love this song !

  • Bibimmer is right...the girl in blue is the first soprano.

  • His truth is marching on. Glory, glory!!

  • My Great aunt (somewhere along that line) wrote the lyrics to the song.

  • Doubtful

  • not quite as good as the Mormon Tabernacle Choir's Battle Hymn of the Republic, but it is ok... but the Mo Tabs are also 50 times more than you guys ;)

  • well....the mormon tabernacle's choir has a much different style and sound than the voices of liberty. u really cant compare. if ur gonna compare, lets compare apples to apples. the tabernacle choir has a more mature sound than the voices of liberty, which has a more poppy sound.

  • as I mentioned: the Tabernacle Choir is also much bigger.

But it's true. They really are much more mature and the VoL are more poppy. But I still like the other version ;)

  • well, to each his own, but i personally prefer the way this version was written, which is in 8 part harmony and the chords are amazing. and i idk if the mormon tabernacle has a soprano like the one in blue who has such a pure voice that can hit a high D at the end of the song!

  • Its actually the girl in the tan/gold dress, not the blue...

  • what do u mean its actually the girl in the tan/gold dress and not the blue? the woman in the tan/gold dress sings second soprano, and the second soprano in the song doesn't hit a high D (i have the sheet music). the girl in the blue dress is a 1st soprano and she hits the high D becuz the 1st soprano is supposed to hit that note

  • You can't really tell who has first soprano because of the video's distortion and relay in time. If I had to venture a guess, I would guess it be the lady in Gold because I have seen her previous videos and her soprano abilities are completely outstanding.

  • actually yes you can. I have seen this people perform live and i've met them before. The woman's name in blue is jackie and she is STRICTLY a first soprano. The woman in gold, tiffany, is a second soprano. The way this group stands is in the order of parts: 1st soprano, 2nd sop., 1st alto, 2nd alto etc. Trust me, the woman in blue hits that note.

  • thats weird. You have to have seen the other videos, right? Try looking at: Star Spangled Banner. Why would she sing 2 Soprano when clearly she is above that range?

  • well tiffany is a "flip-flopper" as i like to call her. She sings 1st AND second soprano. Because the voices of liberty sing many times throughout the day, they need to rest their voices so they rotate between people every so often. Because jackie, the woman in blue, is strictly a first soprano, whenever she is singing she sings first. When she isnt singing, the woman in gold sings first so that is why you hear her as first in videos like the star spangled banner.

  • that makes since. i wish tiffany would sing first all the time though! she is awsome.lol

    thanks

  • actually in my opinion i think the woman in blue is much better than tiffany. tiffany isnt a true first soprano so she tends to be flat on a lot of her high notes. check out the video called "skip to my lou (ending)" and you will hear an AMAZING high note sung by the woman in the blue dress (a high E flat to be exact)

  • the note is higher, slightly prob. by a whole step at the most, but i enjoy tiffany's vibrato moreso than I do of jackie's....prob. because she has not one.

  • well jackie actually does use vibrato in some of her songs, u should probably watch more videos with her in it. and as far as vibrato goes, in these types of songs you really arent supposed to use vibrato, becuz the chords are so tight it would mess up the pitch.

  • Im gonna dissagree with you...I have met them and sung with them before for a week and the lady in the gold...i can't remember her name tho...is definately the 1st soprano...jackie is also a 1st soprano but not the one who hits the note...listen to some other songs with the lady in gold and you will see

  • im sorry but you're wrong. the lady in the gold's name is tiffany and she is what i call a flip flopper. she sings both 2nd and 1st sop (i would know considering she personally told our choir this information when we went to disneyworld). becuz the VoL sing throughout the day, they need to switch out people so their voices dont get tired. when the sop. in blue isnt singing 1st, tiffany does.

  • Also, the reason y i know that the lady in gold doesnt hit the high note at the end is becuz the VoL stand in their order of their parts from right to left e.g. 1st sop, 2nd sop, 1st alto, 2nd alto etc. (the only exception is the conductor in which case they go to either side) Since this is the case, and since the 1st sop. hits the high note at the end, would it make much sense if the 1st soprano stands out of order and sings the high note?

  • Changed it! :-)

  • The song is actually Battle Hymn of the Republic...but whatever. ;-)

  • "Battle Hymn of the Republic"

    Great song!

  • i love kevin

  • Amazing
