The light was the portal taking them home and the fading bit was for dramatic effect. Its one of my favourite episodes I recommend you watch it and well done on this clip :D

This scene honestly makes me cry every time I watch it. There's just this beautiful feeling conveyed by Jack (the other jack, not John Barrowman) of discovering something totally *right*, of just falling into a place he's always wanted to be. It's truly beautiful, that's the only word for it.

@cincotti well everyone else ended up just staring at them, so I got an awkward vibe out of it. it's like the other folks kinda moved away from them like "ok..." and just watched. real life doesn't work like that, they may be all romantic and stuff but other people wouldn't just clear the space just for that. If this were a club full of rowdy enlisted men, and the two Jacks were privates, it might have been diferent. Officers get away with stuff. Anyway...because so many men had lost brothers and fathers in the military, affection between men was often accepted. (I have to continue seperately)

@starlight104 - Watch the entire episode. When they're first sent back in time, Tosh worries about internment etc., and she gets flack from several people until Jack Harkness (the original) and our Jack vouch for her.
I actually do think the people saw something. Definitely the dancing. Which always makes me wonder if Capt. Harkness (original) was really attacked by Germans the next day, or whether he was fragged. *sigh*
In a show filled with many over the top and artificial (and yes, highly entertaining) moments, the scenes between Jack and Jack are probably the most genuine moments I have ever seen on Torchwood. The actor Matt Rippy played his part so beautifully, free of melodrama and self-pity, but full of deep longing. His 10 second scene of unglueing himself from the wall and walking over to Jack's table to take his hand speaks volumes of unrealized chances we all let slip through our fingers.

This scene honestly makes me cry every time I watch it. There's just this beautiful feeling conveyed by Jack (the other jack, not John Barrowman) of discovering something totally *right*, of just falling into a place he's always wanted to be. It's truly beautiful, that's the only word for it.

@cincotti well everyone else ended up just staring at them, so I got an awkward vibe out of it. it's like the other folks kinda moved away from them like "ok..." and just watched. real life doesn't work like that, they may be all romantic and stuff but other people wouldn't just clear the space just for that. But I'm willing to suspend my disbelief because it's tv (or something); i know it's supposed to be a romantic scene, so they play it up.

Nothing better than horrible acting. And the guy in the uniform looks like he's a horrible kisser. He wasn't even kissing...just opening his mouth while the other guy kissed it. @UNIONJAXX123: Not necessarily. This was an officers club, and more than likely people would have stopped and watched like they did in this scene, and maybe teased the guys a bit afterwards. If this were a club full of rowdy enlisted men, and the two Jacks were privates, it might have been diferent. Officers get away with stuff. Anyway...because so many men had lost brothers and fathers in the military, affection between men was often accepted. (I have to continue seperately)

However, the romantic kiss in this scene, if you notice, is not really being seen by the other guests. They don't see the wormhole explode open, nor react to it. I believe they don't see the two Jack's kissing either. I believe the guests saw them dance. Anyway, we will never know, and it's just a tv show. But well done I might add.

@starlight104 - Watch the entire episode. When they're first sent back in time, Tosh worries about internment etc., and she gets flack from several people until Jack Harkness (the original) and our Jack vouch for her.
I actually do think the people saw something. Definitely the dancing. Which always makes me wonder if Capt. Harkness (original) was really attacked by Germans the next day, or whether he was fragged. *sigh*

In a show filled with many over the top and artificial (and yes, highly entertaining) moments, the scenes between Jack and Jack are probably the most genuine moments I have ever seen on Torchwood. The actor Matt Rippy played his part so beautifully, free of melodrama and self-pity, but full of deep longing. His 10 second scene of unglueing himself from the wall and walking over to Jack's table to take his hand speaks volumes of unrealized chances we all let slip through our fingers.
