Baptism is a symbol ??? I don't think so. Why did Jesus do this thing for Himself if this is a symbol ? Baptism is not a symbol, but it is a model that Jesus showed to us (as His follower) in order we could be a member of His Kingdom and get a salvation. How did we know how to do a baptism? (Follow what He had done).
Other ways, it is because of human power that change the practice of water baptism. Splash, in the pool, with flag, etc. JBU
In the Bible, I can find many stated purposes for baptism such as: Mark 16:16 command, Acts 2:38 forgiveness, Rom 6:3-8 into Christ, 1 Cor 12:13 into the body, Gal 3:17 clothed with Christ, Col 2:11-12 spirit circumcised by God, 1 Pet 3:21 saves you. I, don't see the biblical example of baptism being a second confession or a symbol. Show me the scripture that states symbol/confession.

Let’s look at the terms connected with a water baptism:
saved Mark 16:16
remission of sins Acts 2:38
wash away your sins Acts 22:16
newness of life Rom. 6:4
buried with him Col. 2:12
raised with Him through faith (water baptism = faith) “ "
