Went to see this with my GCSE class in newcastle 2011. It was brilliant! i cried as soon as mickey got out of prison, i knew the ending as i studied it and ARGH! i loved it so muchh :'))
i love blood brothers it is the best musical ever <3 i love it and go to ee it at the liverpool empire every year because its so great <3 plus im a liverpoodlian so i really like the way it reminds me of where i live with the vandalism and the idiots and druggys etc etc x
At 1:00 and 1:57, the sections between the verses, this is the way that those two measures are supposed to sound...but that's my opinion...which doesn't count for a lot...
yes thats whats in the piano conductor score its ok to improv around the structure but obvs its what ever the MD and his band feel better, personally i'd improvise...
Yeah, I can understand that. I'm not anti-improv by any means. I've seen the score as well and I agree that there's plenty of room for improvisation. I just thought it was sort of a novelty to find a recording with the original sequence of notes in tact. It seems (based on my findings on youtube) that very few conductors choose to have those transition measures played (more or less) as written. Like I said, my opinion...it doesn't count for much.
i cried so much as soon as mickey got out of prison and was addicted i started crying there then the shots fired, i jumped out my seat and burst in to tears as soon as the first line of this song came in :( I LOVE BLOOD BROTHERS :D i watched it with my drama class last thursday and want to see it again :D
I think it's probably something like "Madman on the Run", because I watched the play. The only song that sounded vaguely like the tatil you gave was during a scene in which Micky runs off with a gun to go and try and shoot Eddie. (You'd have to watch the play if you want to know what I'm rambling about, but I assume you have).
I'm PISSED because EVERY karaoke version I've found of this song forgoes background vocals from The Narrator and Chorus... this adds SO much power to an already beautiful, tragic song. Same goes for "Nobody's Side" from CHESS. AAARRRGGG!!!
LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT. Thank you soooooo much for posting this. I love this song, I love singing it <333 I'm going to see it with school I think sometime I can't waiiiitttttt =D
No, actually I think this is faithful to the original song. However, in alot of professional productions, they repeat the last chorus for dramatic effect.
"And do we blame superstition for what came to pass, or what we, the English, have come to know as class?
So did y'hear the story of the Johnstone twins, as like as each other as two new pins? How one was kept, one given away, and were born and died on the self same day?"
:O only just realised after months of having in my faviorates, is that it's you who owns thing video (i subscribed under the acount 'theguythatsings') woot! thanks for putting this up!! :)
there is a way to correct the instrumental so it ends in the right place to match the lyrics take when it gets to 2:54 edit in the part at starting at 1:57 and you'll have the whole song
according to what i remember from the two recordings i have of the show, the lyrics are correct as written it's the music that fiishes on verse too early
Heya, when do you come in with this song? I may be being stupid but the song finishes when i still have a whole little section left ( according to the lyrics at the side...) obviously my timing....can anyone help?
I saw this last night. It was AMAZING!!! Maureen Nolan sung this so beautifully. Me and all my friends were crying our eyes out. this song is now 1 of my favourites. x
fantastic! thanks a lot x can you put the instrumental to kids game on please because im doing it for my GCSE exam on the 27th of november and need to teach it to the rest of my cast x THANKYOU x x x x im subscribing :D x
And we did the version where Mrs Lyons kills the twins .... I hated doing that part :(

the west end cast of the musical came over to visit me and some other members of my theatre group the otherday and they taught us this song
i think that there is a section of the last section which repeats again.

i saw Blood Brothers on Wednesday and it was amazing i was sobbing, i fell in love with the story and i absolutely love this song.
When i saw it Maureen Nolan played the part of Mrs Johnstone and i have to say she was brilliant she was both witty, serious and a great singer.
I've heard Barbara Dickson sing this on a video and she's has probably been one of the best, but still Maureen Nolan pulled this off.
