They just knocked down a historical building in Greenwich Village built in 1862 to make way for a condo for out of state yuppies, all so they can say stuff like "Ohmigawd! A lot of people in America talk about Liberty. Sadly, a lot of those same people who talk about Liberty want to ban all sorts of things and make laws.

When I was a little kid, given my experience, I was afraid of the word Liberty. I had no way of properly understanding it's meaning given it's usage and the hypocrites who constantly used it. I thought Liberty, from the context it was presented to me in school, meant "tradition".

Now that I'm an adult, I know. And I appreciate it's sentiment.

The statue was made by Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi(french sculptor),the metallic skeleton by Gustave Eiffel.The Statue was offered by France.There are 5 smaller replicas in France,2 in Paris,1 in Colmar,1 in Roybon,and 1 in Saint-Cyr sur mer(french riviera).
