Thanks - an interesting movie. Not so pathetic. It shows - I think correct - the soviet society with there problems in the era of Stalin. Collaboration and all these things.

That was as bleak a movie as I have ever seen, but a very true depiction of Soviet village life, I would say, although I am unsure where it took place...certainly not the Steppe... Thank you for posting this wonderful film

@Dullborn This is Eastern Belorussia or nearby regions of Russia - Smolensk or Pskov. Time is likely July 1941. Central and northern regions of European Russia - it's forests. Steppes - in the south.
